  1. I'm kinda bad at XCOM. I get through the missions, but certainly not with any grace or skill. Planet Earth is screwed with me at the helm. Fun game for sure, but it also stresses me out. I end up playing in short bursts because of it. Heh. Played a bunch more Rogue Legacy. Until SR/GTA hit, this might be my favorite game of the year so far. Really precise gameplay has me tearing my hair out at times, but it's filled with charm that keeps me coming back.
  2. I didn't drive until I was 29, though that was health related for me (the state of PA likes their drivers to not have seizures, I guess. Crazy!). I bought my first car a year ago, so I know the feeling well.
  3. My girlfriend saw that I was having a shitty day and ended up gifting me a copy of Rogue Legacy. Her Internet is ridiculously slow so I probably won't be playing tonight, but its the next game I tackle, I think. More Crysis 3 as well. It's indistinguishable from the second game. The very definition of "more of the same."
  4. On the 15th, Dead Rising 2 and DR2: Case Zero will be the freebies. How is Crackdown? A 6gb+ download has me wary. That'll take forever on my network...
  5. Just finished listening to The Sisters Brothers. I enjoyed the audio maybe even a bit more than reading it, as the narrator sells the dark comedy really well. I was also familiar with all the story beats. I'll hold off on discussing it more until the thread about it pops up for the Summer Reading shindig... Started Seagalogy, which is sort of a humorously critical look at the works of Steven Seagal. Fun read, because the subject is such a kook and that clearly bleeds into his movies
  6. I specifically chose a YA book. I think there's some preconceived notion at what "YA" is and I can assure you...it's not what it was when most of the people on this board (myself included) were teens. Some of the most compelling fiction out there right now can be found on the YA shelf. At an ALA conference earlier this year, I listened to Jonathan Maberry give a talk about how the only "rule" of YA is to be real. Teens see through bullshit fiction that doesnt relate to their worlds a mile away, and a lot of what I read reflects that to a tee...
  7. Best: Probably Bret/Bulldog from the IYH ppv. I was in the nosebleeds for that, though. Best match I saw up close was probably a Dudleys vs Balls/Masato Tanaka tag from an ECW show in Lebanon, PA. Worst: Nothing stands out, really. Maybe the first match I ever saw live, which was a Warlord squash with one of his interminable bearhug sequences. There's also a pretty bad 6-man ECW street fight with Dreamer/New Jack/Kronus vs Victory/Kodiak Bear/?.
  8. More X-Com and Bioshock Infinite. I also started Crysis 3 because, uh...it was there? It sure is more Crysis. Love the bow, though.
  9. Play a good bit of Catan and Pandemic, but right now the game of choice is Smash Up, which I bought after watching the Table Top episode. Good fun for people who play lots of games as well as those who are new to board/card games...
  10. I'll likely write my review tonight. Finished the book this past weekend. Just looking for an uninterrupted 30 minutes or so to put thoughts to text...
  11. Had my car inspected. $980 later, it passed. At least this was my pay week...
  12. I played 3, VS & SA all on PC. The only control difficulty I remember have was with the bloody flying. Still have nightmares about that.I'm sure keyboard/mouse work fine, but my laptop setup doesn't really leave me any sort of space to use a mouse. I have the same issue with all action games on PC currently.
  13. I joined a gym. For maybe the first time in my life, I'm actively going to do something to make me healthier. First thing I found...hitting a treadmill/bike is a fabulous way to blow off a shitty day. Meeting with their in house instructor next week to put some sort of routine in place.
  14. I really wish the GTA trilogy on Steam had full controller support. I want to play them all again (especially Vice), but its tough without a controller or a way to set up (in my personal case) a proper mouse/keyboard platform.
  15. Watching some 95-era Superstars. Who were the War Machines? I have no recollection of them at all.
  16. I continue to be patient, but only because its a game I'm entirely okay with paying full price for.
  17. Started XCOM today. Holy crap. This game is stressful! Only a few missions in so far, but I'm having fun. It's a game ill have to play in smaller doses, though.
  18. Literally bonkers. How's the Doug Benson movie podcast. I generally find him fairly unfunny, but he usually has some fun guests.
  19. I'll likely finish my book this weekend. Happy for the extra time to do a write up, though!
  20. Both of these for sure. HDTGM? is one I discovered maybe 2 weeks ago and I've almost gotten through the entire archive. This week's special episode featuring Sharknado was amazing. I really like "Get Up on This," hosted by Jensen Karp and Matt Robinson. The hook is that they introduce listeners to new and unknown pop culture "stuff" (music/comics/apps/whatever) before it gets huge. I also like the Sklar Brothers podcast. Basically, I think I like stuff with comedians who aren't talking about comedy...
  21. Added Fez and FTL yesterday. Can't wait to be home and at my laptop so I can start playing stuff!
  22. I bought a $20 Steam card yesterday. Sorta watching the summer sale, but I'm planning on leaving enough on there for this game. The Giant Bomb quick look sold me on it. Is there controller support? Not sure I even looked!
  23. Fez and FTL are taunting me currently. I want both, but we're still pretty early into the sale. Who know what else will pop up! This is my first Steam sale and I can see why people enjoy them. Heh.
  24. Played through Tomb Raider. This is the first game in a while that just absolutely grabbed hold of me and demanded to be played to completion. I think Bioshock Infinite is up next. That or Halo 4, which Gamefly just sent along.
