  1. So I watched this movie called "Another Happy Day" last night. I've had the DVD for a while since I found it in the dvd bin at this discount store. Finally put it on and wow what a dark dark DARK movie. Ellen Barkin stars as a woman driving with her two sons to her oldest's son's wedding at her parent's home. One's a 17 yr old drug addict the other is a 12 year old with Asbergers. Her mother is played by Ellen Burstyn and the woman is one of those mother's who despite how fucked up her family is around her...nothing is wrong at all. There's one scene that had me laughing for all the wrong reasons. Barkin's character is asking her mom if there's a history of depression and suicide in the family. Burstyn denies it but then says "Well Dad's Dad shot himself". Barkin is stunned and thinks this is maybe something she should have known about and Burstyn deadpans "It was the depression...alot of people shot themselves". The film was written and directed by Sam Levinson (Barry Levinson's son) and it won an award for Best Screenwriting at Sundance in 2010. It reminded me a lot of Festen (The Celebration). Granted it didn't have the big shocker that film does about a deep dark family secret, but still. I don't think the reviews for this film really do it justice. It's just such a dark depressing film that it probably put a lot of people off.
  2. Team Extreme takes over the Assylum and mach cruicify Jarrett in barbwire to close one of the Wednesday PPV. Rhino winning the NWA World Title after winning a guantlet match battle royal because the original main event had to be pulled when Kevin Nash had "heart problems". Christian vs. Abyss in a Barbwire Cage Match for the NWA World Title. Sting beats Jarrett for the NWA World Title with Angle as the outside enforcer. Mick Foley and Jeremy Borash: Tweet & Tweak Connection
  3. Jarrett has a company now. Why waste Sudd Stable Reborn on TNA if there's a chance people can actually see it.
  4. I had no idea they were making a Jersey Boys film with Walken and Clint directing. Why put it out in the summer? Sounds like it should be out in the late fall for awards season.
  5. I liked Mongo as a Horesemen. He was perfectly fine in the Lex Luger spot of the group.
  6. I have this on dvr so I'll have to watch it tomorrow or something. God I love TNA. Lets take something in theory that could get people to buy a PPV and maybe build up a match. I love EY. I'm sure he can be a great world champion. But this is just TNA's inferiority complex to the WWE. Hey a guy with a beard is their champion...shit who do we have that has a beard.
  7. Nah, Vince's style is to wait for them to tape all their shows and then offer all the guys he wants deals. He did that to Hogan and the XWF that he and Jimmy Hart put together. Hogan, Curt Hennig, Jerry Lawler, and others were snatched back up because they only signed on for the tapings. If Jarrett's smart (I know, I know) who ever they get, they sign them to at least a long term deal so they can't get poached.
  8. In the words of Tommy Lee Jones from the movie Cobb... He ran well for a fat man.
  9. After reading the TMZ article on the police report and the stuff about him looking off all weekend, odds are he was probably having the start of a heart attack during the HOF ceremony. On Monday Night it was way worse when he looked like he was going to kill over doing the rope shake. Who knows. Maybe if he thought better of it he could have went to the hospital. Better to be safe rather than sorry. Warrior was a once in a life time character. No one else could have ever pulled it off better than Warrior did himself. I just really feel sorrow for his wife and children.
  10. Damn, I can honestly say I am in shock. I know when he did that 2K14 commercial last year he was limping badly so I assumed he had a really bad hip or something. Warrior seemed unusually subdued at the HOF and that promo on Monday Night. Man, what a way to go.
  11. Goes back to the WWE is the Indies joke from above. These guys wrestle the "I need to make my youtube clips look cool" style. It's awesome that Harper can bust out a Hurricanranna...but he's made it. He doesn't need that crap anymore. He just needs to be doing big running boots and lariating guys heads off.
  12. There was something from one of the news sites that this new fed would be debuting on CMT in January 2015. The name is a bit hokey, but I'll give it a shot if it ever makes it to tv. We need 1980's Memphis wrestling more than ever on television. I want to see piledrivers on studio floors and Tommy Rich being beaten up in front of his mother.
  13. I don't mind that Taker finally lost. Sure I was stunned that it actually happened, but I'm not too upset about it. The match itself was just so bleh. They barely did a month's build up on a match that should have been hyped up way better. Listening to the reactions of the crowd, they just didn't care. It didn't help that the end of the match was anti-climatic. Usually in these Taker matches we get some cool series of moves. Undertaker was a sad old broken man tonight. The streak is dead. Now we don't have to ever hear about it again. As for the rest of the show... Triple H vs. Daniel Bryan was such an awesome match. Someone must have given Triple H some Japan tapes cause he busted out some fun moves in that match (back suplex on the apron and the tiger suplex). I personally marked out for the crossface chickenwing. They need to keep this feud going. Triple H pulls rank and tells Orton he's gotta wait for his rematch. The Sheild had quite the mauling of The Outlaws. Cesaro winning the Andre battle royal was awesome. I marked once again when he scooped up Big Show and slammed him over the top rope. Cena vs. Bray was a meh match. Bray had the most awesome of entrances, but these two just did not mesh in the ring. And of course Cena overcame the odds as he always does. The Divas match wasn't the complete clusterfuck I thought it would be. So great that AJ retained. Great visual to see Bryan winning at the end. According to Brie on twitter, the company wouldn't allow her to go out and celebrate with Bryan in the ring. Made it all the more amusing with the woman who got in the ring to celebrate with him (I'm guessing a family member of some sort). Overall a fun show and the Network held up.
  14. T's speech was worth every penny of the network's price per month. Wrestlemania is a bonus at this point.
  15. Just by watching this you can see how much of pre-cult leader Bray Wyatt was inspired by Robert Mitchum's Max Cady from the original Cape Fear. A little of DeNiro from the remake as well.
  16. No promises, but I may have access. My uncle used to run some of those quarter vending machine thingamgics in Brooklyn. He had cases of these stickers. He passed away, but he hoarded a lot of this old stuff, and they may still be in his basement. Next time I go there I will look. I have a binder covered with those things...they were from my pre-wrestling days. He also had tons od DC and Marvel stickers. Wow...that just brought back some memories. I really want one of those Jimmy Garvin stickers. Snitsky is his bastard love child.
  17. There was an incredible Kay Lee Ray man vs. Woman match in the 2013 internet matches of the year thread. I mean, it was really damn good. There were points where I legitimately thought she died. And the jumping point of the feud was her getting powerbombed out of the ring. Find that match! This is the one, fantastic. From what I've seen, she's alright in the ring, solid babyface who bumps like a freak, though usually not as much as in that match. Edit: Looking at results, it looks like she's touring with Nikki Storm, who is ridiculously entertaining. If she's on the show too, maybe check it out. Had to look for the powerbomb. Holy Shit that was insane.
  18. Maybe they're counting Tamina as two diva's. This match is confusing. So is it going to be AJ in one corner and everyone else in the other and they all can tag in and out? I can't imagine they would dedicate the time needed to run a guantlet match...for the diva's anyway.
  19. I loved Roddy getting more pissed with each person that came out. REALLY? REAAALLLLLY??? I like how Daniel Bryan apparently snuck into the building in all his gear. That aside, man that beat down was glorious. It's a shame Triple H didn't do a tribute to Ric Flair and let Bryan rip his suit to pieces like Magnum and Steamboat did.
  20. I'm not sure what it says about me, but...I laughed my ass off at that. I laughed and cried.
  21. Isn't MVP muslim? What's with the beer? Like any religion there are a variety of sects following different rules that all fall under the Muslim heading. Also like any group of religious people some are more stringent than others when it comes to following those rules. I have muslim friends who wont even hang out in a place where alcohol is served and others who will knock back beers like nobodies business. MVP did some interview where he said he pretty much became an agnostic and gave up following Islam.
  22. Well, if Bret's standard for a diva match is getting "a boner", then the Melina comment makes sense, especially based off her entrance. To be fair, Melina was pretty good at least by Diva's standards. She played a pretty good face in peril especially when Beth Phoenix was bending her in ungodly ways.
  23. Storm vs. Gunner was a fun match. I hope the feud just keeps going. But man that match was so Indyriffic. Hit a finisher...kickout at 2. Another finisher...kickout at 2. Superplex through chairs...kickout at 2. Two Superkicks...kickout at 2. I'm all for FIGHTING SPIRIT!!!, but man it just seemed like overkill. Poor James Storm. He could have been so huge for TNA and he is just going through the motions. I hope his contract is up soon and Jarrett and Toby Keith sign him for their new company. The Cowboy on CMT Rasslin would be a good fit. Though it would be sad to see him change his current unintentional James LaBrie of Dream Theater look.
  24. In an alternate universe, Jackie was the Bobby Heenan of Florida wrestling when he moved his show to Miami. Also I don't know what's more awesome. That jacket or that it appears he was smoking both a cigar and ciggarette at the same time.
