Ohno cuts a promo around then when he taunts Ricky Sr. with "What are you going to do, armdrag me?" So great.

Trash denotes more than just whore. It means a person of lesser character/status. Calling a spoiled billionaire corporate executive trash is the ultimate insult you can give to someone who thinks they've earned authority. Bryan's looking down on someone who looks down on others.

EPISODE REVIEW!I really hate Corey Graves and The Ascension. But I liked how this got set up. Corey was kicking game to Renee/waiting to do an interview when he got assaulted in a cheap shot. The Ascension did some great "bad guy from MST3K film in the Mike era" taunting laughs.Tyler Breeze's gimmick is great. I loved how he cowardly fled anytime CJ Parker indicated he was going after his face. He's still got a lot to go before he's ready for primetime but he'll be on the main roster at some point. This match, though, had a great terrible ending. Tyler knocked CJ out with his iPhone. What, a model who spends all day taking selfies wouldn't have a $2,000 protective case on that thing?Emma/Renee Young was pretty funny. Renee does exasperated really well. Emma's goofy charm knows no pounds. Summer Rae swatting away Emma's leftover bubbles was a great little bit if prissy heeling.Emma/Summer Rae was pretty solid. Emma tried to go for her submission early and then got into a nasty little catfight with Summer. Summer used her horribleness as a person to gain advantage and then worked on Emma's left shoulder. She did a fairly decent impression of ADR in terms of finding a weak body part and going for it. Summer also did some great taunts mocking Emma's dance moves. Emma ended up back in control, hit her version of the tarantula that she teased earlier in the match (I hear you, dolt in the crowd, chanting ECW) and ended it with the Emma Lock that made Summer Rae tap immediately. After the match, Summer poured Emma's bubble solution in her face. Emma sold it like it was some sort of toxic agent. Regal also put it over, too. Summer stood over her making fun of her dance while pretending she was blind. This wasn't epic or groundbreaking. But this was good professional wrestling -- a decent match that saw moves executed pretty well and ended in ridiculous fashion. This makes the whole Total Divas thing that much more depressing. Sara Del Rey and everyone in NXT is training these girls really well. At the very least, they know how to tell a competent in-ring story in their allotted time. (Paige and Emma, in fact, had a really good match to decide the first champion.) They execute their moves decently well, for the most part. They have good characters besides "bimbo." I know the Total Divas crew have a huge E! rating but all of the current group of NXT girls are way more entertaining than the Bellas/Funkadactyls/Rookies. Sigh.A French guy who is mostly shirtless and wears a giant gaudy cross manages some redneck goof and is obsessed with making money. He's trying to broker a deal with some Test looking goof and his manager who looks like he's in some weird Color Me Badd rip-off band that you'd see in like Season 3 of the original 90210. This is why I love NXT -- parts of it are actually really good and parts of it are great indie weird mismatches. The Test dude/Enzo Amore combo also is a great look at the subtle differences of Jersey culture. The redneck goof called them Jersey Shore wannabe's. They got upset at that. They are Jersey Shore wannabes but aren't Seaside guido trash. They're more Wildwood human garbage. Summer is in the back and is confronted by Sasha. This had a great Degrassi: Next Generation vibe. Summer explained why she's "up there" and Sasha and the rest aren't. She's willing to do whatever it takes, even if it's not popular. Also, SummerSlam was named after her. Sasha has a match in two weeks against Paige. Summer told her that she needs to get a mean streak or she's going to lose. I like this -- Summer justifies her awfulness and is not trying to corrupt someone into following her. And we see the payoff in two weeks. Dawson/Enzo was sorta there. It ended with that Bulgarian dude in the toga ran down and attacked Enzo's boy Cass. The French dude raised the Bulgarian dude's hand in triumph -- I guess paid him off. So great that a French slimebag has arranged to have a stable of some redneck mesh hat guy and a Bulgarian muy-Thai expert who wrestles barefoot and dresses like he's in some Gladiator LARP deal. They (rightly) hype up the Cesaro/Zain classic. Sami comes out wearing a jeffcap and Against Me shirt underneath a blazer -- if you substitute Against Me with Less Than Jake, you have the same exact wardrobe I wore in 1996 or so. I approve of this message. Sami's character of being a nice guy is so great. It sounds so genuine. Bo Dallas is an amazing tool. Zeb comes out and calls Bo a "hardworking American" before taunting Sami some more before Swagger attacks him from behind. Sets up a future Bo/Sami match but with Cesaro's running buddy looking to get his licks in first. Nevile/O'Brian had a match. This was also just sorta there. Nevile's got great spots but Conor's a total load. Rik VIctor (we don't make fun of his hairline enough) lays Neville out after the victory. Graves comes out with his ribs taped up to help his brother but he goes down, too. Whatever. Thank you, NXT, for being you. As always.

Hey everyone! I have eight (8) vacation days I have to use by the end of the year. I am planning on taking them in early December. After some debate, I have decided to go on a sports vacation. I am going to leave Dec. 1. I have to be back at work by Dec. 12 (technically speaking, since I can work remotely). I will be leaving from Philly. I already have a few things on my itinerary that I want to see. These include: UNC/Kentucky at Chapel Hill and a home basketball game at either Butler or IU. I'm also going to stop at Virginia Tech since my cousin lives there. I also think I'll be hitting up a VCU/ODU game. But I will have a LOT of friggin' time to kill. So I will literally go to anything.I am looking for any other sports oddities. I don't care what. Terrible college bowl game? Minor league arena football? Minor league hockey? Toughman contests? Like anything that sounds super boring/terrifying/strange I'm totally in for. I'm also no doubt going to hit up some indie rasslin' somewhere. The more low-rent the better.

What do you want Daniel Bryan to do in that situation? The dude just had his dream stolen from him and was being condescendingly dressed down by this princess who thinks she's a self-made woman who helped engineer his defeat and comeuppance?

Those of us who grew up in the Tri-State area will no doubt have fond memories of Action Park, the world's most insane amusement park. Deaths! Horrific injuries! The nicknames of "Traction Park" and "Class Action Park." The link above is to a really fun documentary about this place.

AUGUST WRESTLING DISCUSSION THREAD

I love that move. If you're leaning on the ropes like that, you'd never expect to get punched in the jaw by a dude who was just behind you a few seconds ago. Unless you watched Christian wrestle before hand. This actually makes a bigger case for Christian, wily grizzle vechren. Every time he does that move he's showing how little these punks on the roster study tapes of their opponents. Stop playing WWE2k13 and get your ass in the tape room, and learn some shit. Wrestling Mysterio? Watch his matches with Jericho to learn how to properly counter a 619. Wrestling the Undertaker? Watch his matches with Triple H and Mankind to learn some weaknesses. Wrestling Sin Cara? Just stand aside, he'll break something on his own. That also shows in Christian's ability to counter everything. He knows what's coming and knows how to use it against you. The only time that doesn't work out is when he's too hurt to do that. The Randy match on Raw was perfect; he got thumbed in the eye and couldn't see. There's no way to counter the RKO when you're blinded. The same thing happened in the ADR match. He saw they were at a virtual draw and went for his finisher. He would have won the match but his arm was too hurt to seal the deal and he had to tap as a result.Christian: The Ultimate Thinking Man's Wrestler. -
Zayn's had like five TV matches on NXT and three were against Cesaro. They were all really good (and the final one in the series was breathtaking). But Brock has insanely great matches on PPVs. It's a bigger stage. That matters. I also throw in mic work/character stuff on my list. That stuff matters, too. Cesaro was just SO friggin' good in his matches that his mid-card slot doesn't matter. That's also why I love Henry and Show this year -- they do what they do and do it pretty much flawlessly. It's also why I love ADR. He's such an awesome dickhead in the ring.

My rankings (taking out injured dudes, or Cena's close to the top): 1. Bryan 2. Punk 3. Cesaro 4. Rollins 5. ADR 6. Brock 7. Henry 8. Show 9. Ambrose 10. Christian 11. Reigns 12. Orton 13. Dolph 14/5. Usos That is a friggin' STACKED roster right now and that's without Cena and Sheamus. Even guys like Wade and Darren Young and Ryback are really capable. I also didn't throw in the NXT guys or else Sami Generico, Regal and NXT-era Bray would make the list. When was the last time the roster was this deep? Smackdown Six era? They've been throwing out these awesome matches for months now. When was the last time they had a week of programming that didn't have at least one ***-ish type of match? There are so many matches (Bryan/Wade) that no one even thinks about that were amazing.

Hey, is Aersostar any good or even active? I don't know much or follow lucha to much. But someone a while ago sent me some of his YouTube highlights. I'm a total mark (and always will be) for insane cruiserweight dudes who bust out crazy-ass highspots. His were so crazy.

The Wyatt's are kinda stuck right now. The Shield need the tag belts right now since it gets over the strength of The Corporate Legacy. They're also heels. And new. It would be AWESOME once they're established if The Wyatt Family came to Bryan's aid. Bray's done a lot of "Jesus liberating the oppressed" stuff in his sermonizing. That can fit into the puzzle, especially if they bring Kane back. Of course, Bryan will have to make a deal with the devil in order to defeat another devil. It's also sorta inevitable that they're going to turn face. They get really huge pops whenever they appear. A lot of that might just be Pavlovian responses to darkness. But the promo stuff is just too friggin' awesome.Let's also wait and see how they do The Big Show angle. I'd love it if he led the rally so much. Of course, it'd be even better if it was Mark Henry.

Any of my Nattie compliments is solely on a Divas scale. Nattie at least watched wrestling before becoming a Diva. She understands things like "emote anger/disgust when someone says means things about you" and "don't scream and blab when someone else is talking." She's not any good in terms of knowing how to execute things. I think she understands what a good match is, at least. She can't get there without someone holding her hand through it but she does know what's good.No one else on that show does. There's no way Jojo or Eva Marie watched wrestling before they ended up signed to a reality TV show. The same thing goes for The Bellas.

AUGUST WRESTLING DISCUSSION THREAD
Greggulator replied to RIPPA's topic in The PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING
Christian just had a super hot match against ADR on a pay-per-view. And another hot match against Randy last night. I have no idea what you guys are talking about. Christian's good and has a really solid few weeks ahead of him as the upper mid-card face who will lose to guys in The Shield or whoever. This thread is weird between this and people upset about the departure of the fairly worthless Ted DiBiase Jr. It's not like Ted Jr. ever showed anything save for the pop he got that one time he contemplated hurting Orton who attacked his dad. The Legacy stuff was the worst, other than when Orton started punting the McMahon family. I remember they had Cody and Ted come out to co-announce a match once and they literally said nothing. Those guys were total stiffs.I like Cody now but he was terrible up until he had that "Dashing" promo. Ted was brutal his entire run. He legitimately had the easiest gimmick ever to get over: Spoiled, monied-class son with a freeloader, obnoxious Eurotrash girlfriend. It seriously does not get easier. But he was terrible with it. Him looking like a weenie against Randy had nothing to do with his charisma suck -
Of course we care, but we know that it will be three or four months before Bryan gets the belt. Fans will be more into the angle if Bryan chases Orton. That's classic Southern booking. There simply aren't enough upper card heels to Hogan-book Bryan, put the title on him in three weeks, and have him face off against the Special Guest Villain of the Month until Cena is healthy. Bryan won't get a title run until about two or three months before Cena returns to action. Bryan's going to win the title at some point. That makes sense for HHH to blame Orton who then can turn back. Then you need the replacement heel, which should get done via a betrayal for maximum success. The Miz, as someone pointed out, would be the best man for the job. It gives Bryan "you're only here because of the Real World" material. And even though the Miz is pretty average in the ring, Bryan could carry me to a MOTYC at this point.I also would love to see Wade Barrett worm his way up the corporate ladder somehow. There's a reason why he and Bryan have had a lot of matches with each other, including in a throwaway cage match on Smackdown. He's a perfect sniveling coward. It also mirror's HHH run -- Wade came in leading a rebellion and now completely sold out in order to get a chance at the belt. He's taken a lot of losses but he's a feud with Christian (perfectly as an upper-card face and recognizable name to get a new-ish guy over) away from being taken seriously. ADR might also work, too. He's a great face of the company and even prettier than Orton.

After watching it again, that does make sense. They obviously knew it was coming when they all froze from AJ's music. That's the camera cue right there. Their reactions were so incredibly awful that it made sense. Seriously, the Bellas and Eva's screaming and railing was super distracting. No way they wanted that from a TV production standpoint -- AJ's words are what make that and the Bellas have more than enough time to respond in later weeks. It also explains the Funkadactyls doing their response, which was essentially The Bellas but without words. Nattie was the only one who knew what the hell she was doing out there. The reactions from people not in the angle are super interesting -- Foley's, in particular. He completely stood up for the Bellas because they left over a business dispute and didn't back down. His defense had nothing to do with the quality of their work but instead how they walked out because they wanted to make more money on the side. I also love how she shills about Total Divas and how great it has been for the division. Never stop selling.

I'm watching this AJ promo again. It's so friggin' great. Her condescension right from the start is great. It's so dismissive. I think the key to the beginning of the promo was her only real burn was to Nattie with her line about her man. Nattie actually sells being pissed off and swoll. Nattie also has a disbelieving look like "Oh, don't say that about me, AJ. You know better." She also has a "famous wrestling family" line.I think this was seriously a "test the water" promo. They know they have a feud with Nattie no matter what since she can actually work. But AJ playing it sorta 50/50 in terms of being a face/heel also was a trial balloon to see if they can also go with The Bellas.I was actually starting to come around to The Bellas, who have at least been trying and doing some heeling in the ring with the "CHECK HER NOW!" stuff. But they regressed to utter worthlessness tonight with their yelling. But what was awesome is that they came off so completely pathetic during AJ's spiel. This was a professional wrestler cutting a promo that had reactions from a bunch of talentless hacks. What was even funnier is that Eva Marie girl trying to do the same but having absolutely no idea. The Funakactyls were also worthless, especially the one who yawned and tossed her pom pom. Seriously, no one went over how they should react to this? The Funkadactyls chance in this is to tell AJ, "HOW DARE YOU! WE WORK JUST AS HARD AS YOU AND JUST BECAUSE WE'RE ON A HIGH-RATED TV SHOW ETC." and not "whatever, you're lame" like the Bellas. This was great. It COULD sell pay-per-views or get attention. The only person out of this, though, with any worth is Nattie. This could be a great few months for the division but since everyone but AJ and Nattie is entirely worthless...

I've been thinking the same thing. They had a lot of money handed to them for the Summer of Punk. A corporate HHH going against the new rebel Punk (who keeps on doing ComicCon stuff), who doesn't come back until HHH does something completely awful to lure him back was the way to run. But they screwed themselves and all that heat.It actually worked out better in the long run. Bryan's way better cast in the role. Punk would have been way too much like Austin since they're cut from the same cloth. I love Punk (and come from a similar music aesthetic) but he's an abrasive jerk and is better as a heel and/or what he's doing now. Bryan's a nerd like us. The best everyman they've ever had.

That's the money match for them in the divas division. It's either people want to see Nattie take apart this cocky, smug princess who thinks she's better than reality TV or people want to see AJ take apart the Bellas because she's better than reality TV.

HHH proclaiming the belt as his personal property that Randy just holds the strap was also A+ troll work. YES! And that Randy didn't have any issue with that. Just hilarious. This week's "SHIELD GUYS," moment. Triple H could pull this Vince thing off to great effect. Fuck the Miz, Mark Henry is your man for a fucking war games match. Show, Henry, Dolph and Bryan, baby! Depending if he's game we might also add in HBK on the faces (Bryan's mentor) to counter HHH for the heels. I wish there was a way to easily transition Regal back into a WWE role so he could be Bryan's mentor type and get in on this.

That was an awesome few hours of professional wrestling. All of the Bryan stuff was great. So many awesome things have come out of this. HHH has been awesome as the evil overlord. Randy is such an amazing tool. I loved Randy being given an Escalade -- it totally felt like what some Enron trader would have done for his kid when he turned 16. The Shield are great henchmen. Brad Maddox is such a corporate weasel. And Daniel is the best everyman they've ever had. So many other awesome things. The Punk/Heyman/Axel stuff was just epic and so incredibly violent compared to everything else of the past few years. It REALLY stood out as being just a horrific beating.AJ's promo was one of the best interviews anyone -- male, female -- has ever done. It definitely had a "pipe bomb" feel to it. But she absolutely hit it out of the park. She's as talented as anyone else on the roster on the stick and is also really capable in the ring -- re: her carry job of Bailey on NXT. Did the WWE intentionally have as bad a match as possible to set that up? I actually was starting to come around to the Bella's lately (they've done a lot of good heel CHECK HER! stuff) but that match was the absolute worst. Seeing AJ come out and deliver her promo while the Bellas and whatever the other girls' name is hem and haw as she was speaking (and screwing up the audio mix) said it all right there. AJ's a professional and they're total amateurs. The Christian/Randy match was superb. I thought it was lacking a little something but two professionals told an awesome match. I hated Randy Orton just until a few months ago. It's been a REALLY long time since a heel turn or what have you woke a dude up. I loved that super dick shove off the top he did to Christian who was super willing to lose some future neck mobility.I already saw the Wyatt Family "Sister Abigail" promo and loved it since anything they do is flawless in my mind. They HAVE to do something with the announcers though in order to try and explain a little bit as to what they mean to the segment of the WWE Universe who didn't go to a Catholic liberal arts college. Bryan/Rollins was amazing. Not much else needs to be said. I liked Rollins in-ring on FCW but didn't think he'd have a shot at being anything more than Justin Gabriel's Sometimes Tag Partner on the main roster. He's a hidden super-worker of sorts right now. Nothing but high-end matches and he's such a little piece of crap. I also love Reigns warning the referee over stuff. Reigns is really good at being that too-cool-for-school lunkhead. The HHH stuff at the end was great. It's all about building tension right now. The audience is going to absolutely EXPLODE when Show/Henry/Dolph get a chance to go after The Shield and even the score. Even the more forgettable stuff -- RVD/ADR and Titus/Swagger -- had their moments. Awesome two weeks.
