FTR vs. Priest and Billington 2 was great, and so was Paragon/Death Riders. They kind of had the same kind of structure -- faces who were ROH-type workrate, and heels that were shitheads. FTR should have The main had a lot of the same stuff, but abbreviated, and with even more personality. They did the "everyone lies on the mat" spot but I can forgive it. Real good finish, KOR's selling was fantastic, and there might be an angle they're working where Garcia eventually turns on Moxley (who gets isolated from the Riders except for Marina) and they have a stunner of a match. It'll be down the road, but the plans are laid. Except for Eddie showing up. That throws a wrench into everything.2 points

I've read other places that Andrade refused to work AAA shows bc it would ruin his standing with CMLL. I have no idea if that's true or not, but if it is, I'd love to see Andrade work some CMLL shows with AEW talent. If he can play ball, he'd be a great challenger for Adam Page at a PPV. Also, I read Dragon Lee's contract is up in like 3 months. He should leave New York on the first thing steaming.2 points

I give Andrade some grace for how his AEW run ended as with the benefit of hindsight and knowing the divorce with Charlotte was coming their marriage was probably not in great shape and the desire to get back to WWE ASAP could be seen as a desperate last ditch effort to try and salvage things. ...It's all the other times he's done stuff like that I can't really handwave away.2 points

I’d love a short, gold watch tag title run for Butcher and Blade with the Bunny in their corner.2 points

TK specifically said that Andrade would be welcomed back, I believe. Quote me if I’m wrong but I think it was at the World’s End scrum the year he left (2023? I can’t remember honestly). Miro and others didn’t get that same treatment, from what I remember. If it’s true he went back to WWE to be on the road with Charlotte and try to repair their marriage, then fair play to him. I can’t blame him for that honestly. But he does carry himself like someone who believes they’re a bigger deal than they actually are, and wants to be treated as such. I’d be lying if I said Rush & Andrade in the tag division wouldn’t interest me, though.2 points

I feel like CMLL is the best promotion on planet earth. I just recently got a solid connect for next day CMLL stuff anytime they run and I really have a hard time thinking of another company that's this consistently good. I will admit I don't watch Joshi enough so maybe Sendai or someone is on that level but man, they always kill it whether it's a bizarre multi-man tag with like every top star they have, even a guy like Yutani feels special there and I'd never even heard of him. Looking to get into IWRG as well, AAA gives me the WWE stink right now but I love El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr so I'm torn.2 points

I was curious how the Vegas crowd was going react to Vikingo. Mexican crowds have been boo'ing Vikingo but I wasn't sure if he'd get the same reaction outside of Mexico. It still has me wondering whether the reaction was a carryover from Mexico or just crowds naturally getting behind Dom. The LWO is like 75% merchandising and 25% booking/character crutch. Like Cruz and Wilde are going get more of a crowd reaction getting them to chant "L-W-O" than they'll get unbranded and they can always be brought into whatever feud Lee and Rey are having. Now if they were going be moved permanently to AAA then I think they should drop the branding and let them actually develop their own characters.1 point

Battlezone Championship Wrestling presents Rage in the Cage 2 Sept 13th 2025 Mendenhal Mississippi Opening match Nightmare Jeremiah vs the Judge RJW in a cage. So the backstory behind this match. 2 years ago in May they faced each other in Battlezone,Nightmare won. And they realized they had had close to 40 matches and Nightmare always won. That BZ match in May 2023 was both them's final Battlezone match. Well with a major fed on the coast not having a show siince May that means Nightmare had some free weekends. BZ contacted him and RJW and set up this match. I also got this match from my stationary cam. But so little of that is in the frame. EDIT This version is using footage from both cameras. When they outside the cage it is the footage I already posted. Once they enter the cage and the bell rings it goes to my stationary cam.1 point

Big Dave is being really cryptic about why Andrade is gone from WWE. Says he was sent home a couple weeks ago then fired. It wasn't mutual and he didn't ask for release, but it's not drug, alcohol or marriage related..... My mind immediately goes to something untoward with a female talent.....what else would get someone sent home/fired that wasn't any of those 3 things listed? Was he such a miserable prick backstage it was affecting morale? I've always liked him as a talent. Great wrestler. I wouldn't be opposed to him being back in AEW tbh1 point

upon further review, could a 1980s animator have accurately animated Bobby Heenan taking a Ray Stevens bump because that probably determines how good animated Bobby Heenan could have been also, Charlie Adler is a voice actor legend and people weren't so discerning about little details in the 80s, but Adler's Piper voice wasn't entirely good. But they couldn't get Tom Prichard to quit wrestling so he could voice Roddy Piper on a cartoon. The rest are good enough at worst. And I'm not entirely sure that Moolah's cartoon bodysuit needed to be that tight, horny outsourced DIC animators.1 point

I thought Danielson leaving the desk at the PPV before the cage match was hinting at his eventual comeback, and he literally said he couldn't be out there with Mox/Claudio because he didn't know if he could control himself. But now he's on commentary and Death Riders are up to their usual shit and they haven't mentioned anything like that.......1 point

Here's the thing about CMLL right now - they are on a hot streak, and doing some of the best business they have ever done. Every Friday show is selling out, most of their Saturday shows are selling out, and Peubla & Gudalajara are consistently selling out too. Hell, they've even sold out this upcoming Pokemon show on a Tuesday, which is unheard of. They don't need Andrade, Dragon Lee, or anyone else. They're doing this with their own homegrowns. Now, if Andrade was already unhappy in WWE and thru back channels found out CMLL has an interest in him, as long as he didn't show up in AAA, that's a different conversation. If the first big move in the TKO-AAA vs CMLL promotional war is a top luchador leaving AAA for CMLL, that would be a big deal, especially with how hard CMLL is leaning into the "Hecho en Mexico" branding.1 point

takeaways through 8 episodes of Rock'n'Wrestling: 1) Bobby Heenan is showing up in as many live action segments as humanly possible. His stuff is quality too, Bobby Heenan probably could have carried a kids show if there was interest in wrestlers on Saturday morning cartoon shows after 1986. IMDB insisting that the same voice actor voiced Bobby Heenan and Iron Sheik in an episode where Bobby Heenan is trying to get Iron Sheik a drivers license 2) Terry Funk showing up in the live action part of an episode is actually more of a surprise than Randy Savage showing up. 3) Piper just disappearing from the show for weeks, like he would disappear in real life, only to come back to help the corrupt mayor's re-election campaign. 4) wonder if the writers had to be talked out of doing any "Nation of Carbombya" level plots for Iron Sheik (Carbombya being the Transformers episode that led Casey Kasem to quit that show because holy fuck that's a bit racist even for 1980s kids cartoons) feels like they could have swapped out Snuka for George Steele eventually since they just kept Snuka around after he left the WWF.. Miss Elizabeth wasn't technically a face until mid-87 so the WWF really didn't have a face woman for a little bit to balance out Moolah1 point

I'm sitting on my deck getting misty. I can't believe Ishinriki vs. Ueda has cagematch hype. I found that match clicking through puroarchive's archive.org account for days and days. My gimmick for that Secret Santo was using it as a reason to watch new matches and only recommending things I'd never seen before, and that match was the best thing I found. It was my platonic ideal of a DVDVR joint and I waited a good degree of weeks so I could gift it to DEAN. It reminded me so much of the matches that he and the Playaz hooked me up on when I was a kid, it was the closest I ever got to feeling like I was properly giving back. I wasn't doing great at the time and it's hard to read my old drunk + manic post about it but I remember finding and watching and sharing all those matches being a damn fine time. DEAN didn't write it up because he was in the hospital but I was stoked to see him drop a Thanks on it. It's phenomenal pro wrestling. Fan cam, deep cut, punk as hell, pure artform stuff.1 point

Well, first off I think these media mergers are really bad in general for a lot of reasons. But for AEW specifically if this happens it almost guarantees they'd be off of TNT/TBS/HBO when their contracts are up (TKO/WWE is already fucking with them and trying to put them out of business, you think they'd share a streaming platform with them?)......and with the shrinking media landscape their options are going to be limited. TV will still be limping along but they'd probably be looking at Prime as the home of their "TV" programming, and it's going to be a buyers market1 point

from Wikipedia: The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is an independent agency of the United States government whose principal mission is the enforcement of civil (non-criminal) antitrust law and the promotion of consumer protection. They are the organization that, relevant to this conversation, approves mergers between companies, supposedly to make sure that customers aren't getting the shit end of the stick.1 point

Sandman had Toni on his podcast, so that's where the tribute from her to him comes from. Also, I loved Dax getting in the face of that one fan. Apparently he's a known AEW troll on Twitter and he was screaming at Dax about being blocked. What a fuckin' tool.1 point
-
I honestly appreciate that about their Arena run. It's super tempting to get a bunch of legends and do tribute stuff but why not make your own mark instead? There were some small tributes here and there but just give good shit to watch live or on TV and that's more than enough for me. I also liked that aside from the QT/PWH match and Dax blading(?) one time there wasn't much if any blood. If it doesn't call for it then it doesn't call for it. Hell, Mad Dog Connelly/Demus didn't drop one bit of blood and they had a super brutal match that would have certainly made many an ECW fan go "Oh, shit!" Given how booking can be to some after All In with one show to go I found the Arena run a big success.1 point
-
Toni/Skye ruled. Sad we never got a Sandman appearance but at least we got a little tribute there from Toni. Surprised the only ECW aside from Taz we really got throughout the residency was a Blue Meanie cameo at ROH. Hangman/Josh was great and I really enjoyed the Hangman/Fletcher post-match promo. Pretty good matches all the way around.1 point

Couldn't disagree more. The extra cash prizes and simple branding of "ALL STAR" x-person tag give a nice little touch of logical consistency for why unrelated parties in different angles are being scheduled to team up. From a practical perspective, multi-man tags are great for weekly shows because you can get a lot of people on TV without overloading any of them, but it's nice to have a little storyline or branding reason to promote the match rather than just accepting "it's wrestling." Plus even though everyone knows TK is mega-rich, throwing out a few million in bonuses throughout the year makes the company look big time. Anyway, I thought the show was quite good even if the ending was a bit flat. Hangman/Alexander was really good, Shelton/Ricochet was fun in a bit of a different structure than a usual Dynamite match, and Toni/Skye was a blast. I thought Willow was great in her interview segment dealing with a wide variety of feelings, the Hangman/Fletcher promo was simple but it sets up those two to just absolutely cook at All Out, and MJF's promo was one of his better ones recently too. Garcia joining the DR needs to be accompanied with Wheeler getting booted and starting a redemption arc. Otherwise it's just way too many guys doing the same thing there. The problem is that I really want Stat in there and Wheeler kinda needs to be there for that to happen. Maybe Claudio can just take a break or something.1 point

These arena shows have been tremendous fun despite the ppv booking being dicey to say the least. I loved Fletcher’s homoerotic ‘man on man’ line. Philly didn’t know what to do with that. The wrestling audiences will do anything for a chant - the socks stuff was particular stupid. Topping the ridiculousness of bald chants. Ankle socks/no socks are totally appropriate for this weather. Bunch-o-Rubes! Bald chants in wrestling are a little lame, no? WOR brought up the ridiculous oversight of selling a no interference agreement in the ppv title match while doing the same with the Ric-Shelton bout and then breaking said agreement. Poor sell on the ppv main event stip. But, like, no way will the title match have interference, right? Also, why is Hanger having a gentlemanly convo with the guy who tried to end the career of his pal Kenny? Goddamn, they attacked him too! Classic nothing follow-up to a fucking injury angle - dear AeW creative, stop killing your credibility. How do you expect ppl to believe the next one? This has been a pretty consistent problem in aew that has long needed some attention. They need somebody in the creative room with an eye on the longer term vision. Somebody who can make sure they are hitting the story beats and properly following them up after. They also need somebody who can keep them from repeating the same elements for an angle multiple times in a cycle or show for that matter.1 point

I'm honestly shocked that TK hasn't run more Battlebowls for cash purses.1 point

If they want to make these tag matches for a cash prize interesting, they should throw together teams of people who aren't allies but have to work together because they want the money.1 point
