  1. There's nothing wrong with someone not liking Kenny Omega, or the Bucks, or anyone else in the Elite, or even Cody. Call me crazy, but I think the difference here is that when someone comments they'd like to see the Young Bucks walk into oncoming traffic versus "I don't like their in-ring style, or characters, or..." It's kind of fucking disturbing, actually.

  2. Edit: someone posted a day ago this image of Brad with Tony Schiavone (who is cropped out here) from the 80s tbs studio with spoiler the next opening segment to dynamite

  3. The Lions were on the wrong end of Tom Dempsey's 63 yarder way back in the day too. so "New NFL Record for Longest Field Goal" isn't even a new way for the Lions to lose. [that one was 19-17 too]

  4. Slagging on Cole and the Bucks for being ‘too small to be believable’ is such a toxic take. It’s WWE-derangement thinking that has led to decades of talented people having their careers fucked with and leads to Diesel vs Mabel main events.

  5. So DEFY in Seattle was supposed to have Eddie Kingston vs Schaff tonight in the main event. It's the whole reason I bought tickets. Match time comes and Scharff comes out and cuts a promo saying how Eddie was too hurt to make it (DEFY said nothing about this on Twitter) and basically asks if there's anyone with the balls to fight him.... Cue "Wild Thing" and out comes Jon fucking Moxkey. Place erupts and he and Schaff have a wild brawl. Then afterwards, Moxley announces he's coming back in November to fight Tom Lawlor. It was a good night in Seattle.

  6. NYC was bruuuuutal to Cody. I've been there for your mixed Cena reactions and so forth, but it was so bad Wednesday, someone behind us yelled "Cody, tell us your whereabouts on January 6th!" Another small group was chanting "Fuck you, Arn!" It was really something.

  7. Superkliq with Brandon Cutler as their lackey is really just the best stuff, and I'm by no means a huge Adam Cole fan. But he's been largely inoffensive for me in AEW so far. With his position on the card here, since he's not their top guy, I don't think he's going to be having 30+ minute matches with anyone like he always did on Takeover shows (thank god). For my Adam Cole preferences, he's best in 10-15 minute TV matches. But, holy fuck, if we do happen to get Kevin Steen in AEW... I'm gonna need the Superkliq to turn on Kenny Omega and adopt Steen as their leader. There's a match I never knew I wanted, actually: Steen vs Omega. I know it happened in PWG, but that was twelve years ago. They're both very, very different now.

  8. You guys who are all "i don't like this wrestler or team so i will never give a match a chance" are odd.. i have wrestlers that i loathe that can still entertain me on occasion.

  9. Oh shit, I forgot this happened. It was sort of cool because as you all know, I'm a WCW guy, so it was great to see The Giant, Sting, Jericho, and Arn all in one night

  12. Boooooooo. You're right. And this will certainly be a factor into teams trying less ridiculous field goals due to the consequences. But I love seeing teams try crazy shit like that. So I wish he didn't run it all the way back. Hook me up with more 70 yard field goal attempts.

  13. Yeah I was bummed when it came out he wasn't gonna be there, and I'm still hoping he'll come to Seattle at some point but Mox more than made up for it. Forgot to mention Christopher Daniels was also on the card, and I wanna say it was his first match since the loss to the Bucks on Dynamite. He's definitely still got it. Had an awesome match with a guy named Titus Alexander.

  17. Apply any context you'd like, the rule some people have about how we shouldn't be too negative on wrestlers has not been applied equally. Cody will make liars of hypocrites of you all. ? I would also like to introduce you to the notion that what you erroneously perceived as "so many" other people writing off Omega and the Bucks is how other people receive your ilk's talk of Cody. I don't believe it's different at all. And I don't believe "first year" praise negates the current toxicity. Cody catches shit equal to the rest of them. Why he isn't defended the same is beyond me.

  18. It's one thing to not like certain wrestlers, but it's a totally different thing to feel the CONSTANT urge to tell everybody you don't like whichever wrestlers. I remember being like that, always shitting on what I thought sucked - I was in high school. Apparently I grew the fuck up since then.

  19. The Bucks/Cole kiss on the cheek spot was beautiful comedy. And even moreso beautiful for the way it surely enraged the humorless contingency on DVDVR that feel the need to make it known weekly that they hate said fantastic pro wrestlers Nick Jackson, Matt Jackson and Adam Cole.

  29. Like I always say, I respect everyone’s opinion but working fast and kicking people in the fucking face a lot is a pretty effective style for their size. They’re not working bear hugs like the Twin Towers so I’m not entirely clear to that point. Also, this has to be the first Adam Cole and Scott Norton comparison. I mean, Cole’s finisher is him running and kneeing someone in the back of the head. Also seems like an effective in-ring strategy.

  33. I don't really understand legitimately hating wrestlers for their in-ring work. I have a bunch of wrestlers I give no two shits about, but even then I hardly ever even skip or fast forward their matches, I just go do something else while they are on. I don't even have the time to hate wrestlers for their transgressions outside the ring but I will likely pay even less attention to their work then. There's so much good stuff out there still, that literally hating somebody's matches so much that you wish them harm, is indeed kinda backwards. You will save time for the stuff you actually like by NOT watching what you don't like. Unless you like watching stuff you hate, which is , of course also your prerogative.

  35. Well this episode of AEW has the handicap of following the show where I got everything I’ve ever wanted in a wrestling match. After a childhood full of syndicated squash show matches. Having a match on regular tv that (for me) is the apex pairing. It doesn’t get any better than that. This episode of Rampage didn’t have a chance to follow that. Yet still, it was a great episode. I’m going to shout whomever pointed out the plot hole of nobody coming out to save Jericho and Jake. Exasperated by the fact they’re all wearing support vests AND there are two segments after the beat down of other Inner Circle members coming out all happy and jovial. Like nothing even happened to their crew. Sammi and Santana and Ortiz come out later and I’m like: “Where the fuck were these dickheads?” Really? Don’t get me wrong. The Sammi segment got more focus on next weeks match. The 8 man tag quietly planted the seed for a P&P vs Lucha Bros tag title match. It got its work done. It’s just a block that doesn’t fit with the other LEGOs. Maybe re-edit the show and put the Jericho match later in the show? Had an eye opening moment seeing Hager do the job. That doesn’t happen every day. TK has a lot of credit to spend when choosing someone to lay down. Punk vs Hobbs and HOOK was all the good. The 6 Man tag revealed that maybe it’s understood. Luchasaurus isn’t going to be protected as much as your typical “big guy/giant” on a typical team or faction. Being that he does the job again here. The double goozle choke slam was fire. I like the idea of the Mark Henry pre-Main Event dual interview. But they aren’t getting any better. Maybe they’ll get it there. I love you AEW.

  37. it's probably a phantom proposal they're hoping the MLBPA is dumb enough ("we don't want all that extra travel!") to make a concession in exchange for the league taking it off the table.

  38. I’ve been thinking about this, and I’m troubled that such sentiment isn’t as loud or enthusiastically received when Cody is getting piled on. The disrespect is real. Cody Rhodes in AEW is a second class citizen.

  40. I don't like the Bucks much, but they've fallen into an area where I actually like to watch their matches and I find myself rooting for them to lose. When they were faces, I just didn't want to watch them, really. So, I guess their heel schtick works on me?
