Actually while I am at it - please stop posting every Austin Aries/Val Venis shit tweet too They really don't need to be amplified and we really don't have the energy to have to moderate the fallout13 points

So one potential positive in this is if this scandal is henceforth referred to as “PizzaGate”… fewer Googling morons will be fed bizarre conspiracy theories.12 points

Glad to know this is the quality of posting I can expect over the next few months. Are people getting upset at their own fantasy booking? You don't need Punk or Danielson challenging for any belts for awhile. They are going to draw just by virtue of being there. They can wait until the first night of honeymoon being over before mixing it up with the title scenes and the long-term storylines around them.7 points

While the end of the elimination tag was where the show peaked in ratings, the main event saw a big increase. People certainly weren't tuning out. Fuck Domino's.7 points

This looks to have backfired on Dominos as they are getting destroyed all over social media. Trolling Culture > Outrage Culture.7 points

He's a former Drug Addict and a one time Bank Robber, who served more than his full sentence, got clean, and stayed out of trouble. He goes to Church and doesn't like to admit it (it's a personal thing to him; He's not an evangelical or anything. It's just going through addiction and getting out of it, a lot of people find religious belief helps with handling life after. Plus he's still grieving his brother).6 points

This company has earned enough goodwill with me that I’m willing to play the “Let’s See How It Plays Out” card, but this immediately strikes me as a bad decision. At least in terms of their plans of making Hangman a top guy. Like, you can always come back to him later, but I don’t know if the timing/situation is ever going to be as perfectly set up as this. Everything was peaking for him at just the right time.6 points

We closed on our house yesterday! Already got 99% of the vinyl moved (I have one box I might want to split up and the three boxes of 45s) plus glass, china, framed stuff, and some garage. Of course someone didn't fill out paperwork right and got chewed out, and literally at the last minute someone fouled up again and wouldn't let us fill out a check, instead insisting on wired money though Illinois law was changed a couple years ago -- and by last minute I mean our lawyer sent it at something like 2:15 PM with a deadline of 2:30. Really nice house too, a ranch style with big open kitchen + great room, exotic plants all over (the owner was a landscape constructor that worked on Michael Jordan's house), and a back walkway that leads straight to a business complex with restaurants. Maybe now I can just work on picking up the pieces.5 points

Like, what do star ratings mean if they’re not even representing your opinion anymore?5 points

All I know is that I loved that match this past Wednesday. Technically I’m considering this a bounty hunter story, so I feel like this might be the best one in quite some time, at least since the 90’s.5 points

Pleasantly surprise and happy to be wrong here. I underestimated AEW's demand. Doing 50k tickets over two weeks for 4 events in the same market is bonkers. Like that's some peak attitude era demand. Very happy for everyone involved. I think this coupled with the trending up ratings is a perfect storm for them. They are within shouting distance of at least equaling the competition. I'm very much enjoying what AEW is ding, and hopeful WWE will quit dicking around and start putting on better shows to compete. As for Hangman not getting the All Out match... it's a disappointment. But AEW has earned enough good will for me to trust them to do the right thing, even if it takes a detour. I mean if we were all analyzing WCW during the nWo like we do now... how many times would we have been pissed at the story twists and turns for Sting? They held that off for so long. They even threw in a Lex Luger title run. But in the long run Sting vs Hogan drew the highest buy rate in company history. I trust AEW to change the story and still make it cohesive. So I will again say I think Punk is Omega's opponent at All Out. And Punk wins. But I still fully expect them to get the belt back to Omega in time to crown Hangman at Revolution. Some nice symmetry to that being him & Kenny vs The Bucks where they started teasing the turn.5 points

If nothing else, this is the most fun I've had following a promotion since WCW with Sting vs. the nWo. Absolutely wild stuff.5 points

I do what I should so much it's not even funny! But yeah, I've learned to live with it! It's cool. Remember that Chris Rock skit about people who want credit for shit you're supposed to do? "I take care of my kids!" You're supposed to, you dumb motherfucker!5 points

This. Once talent is signed to AEW, they are AEW. NOT ex-WWE talent in AEW. Fuck that noise...leave that way of thinking to Vince & co. Plus, Punk left in 2014.4 points

I have been a Bulls and Hawks fan my whole life, but I've always loved wrestling more than them so it's amusing that my first time in the United Center will be to see AEW. Now watch this baby come early or on that day.4 points

And I didn't think I would get tickets. Everything I clicked on that was supposedly available would come up showing that those tickets were gone. So then I'd try again and the same thing. I think I eventually just lucked out.4 points

United Center show is moving tickets like hotcakes. We love to see that. Looks like it will sell out today tbh4 points

I mean, the Page story still makes perfect sense to me. Dark Order told him not to be afraid of failure and that they'd stick with him even if he failed. With hindsight, for that moment to actually mean something, Page should probably fail at some point. Then he lost the 5-on-5 match, so he lost his title shot at All Out. "As soon as Page believed in himself and tried, he won the title" is imo not of good a story as "Kenny was also actually a really good wrestler and it took Page more than one try to beat him". Bonus points if there's some story element that shows us another change Page has to make in order to get the win. If Dark Order turns on Page, that's bad. If Kenny drops the title to anyone other than Page, that's bad. I don't think either of those things will happen. Whoever Kenny defends the title against at All Out, I see that as kind of a placeholder title defense. It might not even main event the show. If we go into another COVID lockdown and they put the story on ice again like they did last time, that's bad. That one is a real danger.4 points

I have a friend who's not only a Russo fan, but has worked with him on some stuff in the past. My friend has also been friends with guys like Will Ospreay and Mark Andrews since they were all on the UK Backyard scene together. He is also a Scientologist. So I make friends quite indiscriminately, is what I'm saying.4 points

I bet they started with Spears to get people thinking it would be Jericho having to go through all the Pinnacle members only to throw the surprise of Nick Gage out there4 points

Count the number of people Nick Gage has actually killed. Estimate the number that Domino's has. They aren't particualrly close. I might have to drive 30 minutes to the nearest Cluck U (RIP Cluck U Towson, definitely not insurance fraud arson), but fuck it I could go for some. Let no man say Nick Gage lacks taste, I'll forgive the Natty Ice preference.4 points

I just came up with a match that could sell out a stadium (The Linc in Philly): MJF/Wardlow vs Nick Gage and Gritty. Book it Tony!4 points

I've figured out why the AEW ring looks different. The actual mat surface is 20x 20 like WWE's rings, but the turnbuckles are longer and the ropes are shorter. So the inside of the ropes bit of the ring is smaller, and the aprons are bigger. So they can do moves onto the apron better, and that Blade to OC top turnbuckle powerbomb was safe.3 points

You shut your goddamned mouth before we get a masked wrestler called "The Quencher" who beats his opponents with the Gatorade Driver while a commercial loops on the entryway screens.3 points

Here’s how I feel about concerns regarding Hangman’s title win being overshadowed by Punk/Bryan: If he’s really what AEW thinks he is, if he’s really The Guy, if he’s got the stuff to be a top star on the level with those type of guys...then he’s NOT going to get overshadowed. If anything, you’re helping him cement his status as The Guy by putting him over in a big way right when there are (potentially) a lot of new eyeballs on your show. Not trying to make a perfect 1-to-1 comparison here, but this feels like if WWE decided to kick the can down the road on Austin in the run-up to WM14. Again, not saying he’s Austin 97 or anything, but these crowd responses are fucking HOT, man. Timing is everything with paying off a push, and you can’t squander it. Tough to recapture the magic of thousands upon thousands of people collectively willing something to happen.3 points
