  1. Right. She's a comedy character and it lessens the people she's with. Fans didn't pay attention to the initial Andrade reveal because Vickie was the one doing it. She should be with the Wingmen. Four dudes and one cougar hanging out, being sleazy? Yes.

  2. The Dark Order just being the most realistic, wholesome and supportive group of friends to Hangman was my favourite minute of the show. They’re honestly the ultimate good guys in wrestling right now.

  3. According to Reed's family he called Hobbs "The new Hacksaw" so I don't think you can put this one on JR at least.

  4. Can't quote from a dead thread, but Curt McGirt recently said that New Look Otis needs to shave his head as well. True, I say, but take it all the way, Otis, and shave your head, put on thee black butcher singlet and start demanding a 5 count for your pinfalls. What this country needs now is a new King Kong Bundy. - RAF

  5. According to Tony Khan, at least Butch Reed knew who Hobbs was (and really liked him).

  6. Main Event was awesome until they kicked out of a fucking toprope tombstone. They set it up where MJF could have sold the knee instead of going straight for the pin. Sammy Guevara needs to be on my TV more.

  7. Not saying JR is racist, and the Hobbs/Butch Reed comparison is fine and valid; but JR referred to Hobbs on a Dynamite past as "quite articulate". As someone who has lived in the South my entire life, I recognize that as a low key racist comment predicated on the fallacious notion that blacks are generally inferior to whites, and it is surprising when a black person is capable of speaking adroitly. So, JR is either low key racist or a product of his times. The Guevara/Hernandez comparison is a head scratcher, certainly. Either way, to me, renewing his contract is not good business; however, Tony Khan is a freaking saint and an old school fan, so he will keep JR around until the wheels come completely off.

  8. Vickie : "I get older, but Nemeth boys seem to stay the same age!" You're very welcome for that image.

  9. JR yelling in Excalibur's ear to tell him to be sure to mention a) Preston Vance could definitely add 30 more pounds of upper body mass, b) Abadon's 3rd cousin played nose tackle for the Pawtucket Fightin' Beagles, or c) Darrius Martin reminds him a lot of JYD, would all be tremendous.

  11. Whole heartedly agree. I love The Dark Order. I think Evil Uno needs a new mask now! With his most impressive weight loss it's looking a little loose on him. Way to go, big man!

  12. Yeah, the Hobbs/Butch thing isn't a big deal at all and Excalibur even mentioned on commentary at least once but I think twice that Reed put him over as the new Hacksaw. But it's just his general aura and disinterest that takes away from matches way more than any WWE flub or dumbassery. The entire job of a commentator is to put over the wrestlers and build excitement. With few exceptions, Ross does not seem interested in doing any of that or when he tries it comes off as forced. You know he has his favourites, and there's nothing wrong with that, he always did, but unless you're on his shortlist you're fucked.

  13. Jungle Boy got a match and win noteworthy win. Nice! I wrote just a few days ago that they need to capitalize on him and it'll be a missed opportunity if he gets a backstage segment here or there and we don't see him in-ring until a tag match with Luchasarus a month from now. And they didn't do that! He got a backstage segment talking up his performance vs. Omega and his important match last night, then he got an actual match and won. Excellent. Oh hey let's have another Jericho/MJF promo segment and dress it up as something special again. Noooooo That opener was great. I don't like non-title matches for title shots. If you can beat the champion, you should be the champion. That being said, if you insist on booking that, at least make it a great match. Now I can't watch a Bucks match without @just drewin my head as I look at their physiques and wonder if they're as bad as he says ? THEY LOOK LIKE PORN STARS! And then Kenny completes the sight gag by coming out later with his own ridiculous facial hair. I believe Omega as Modern Flair much more than I believe MJF as Modern Flair. I wrote that before I read @Craig H's post on the matter. Also, MJF's neckbeard is a real WTF deal for me. Also, he says "BUD" to punctuate sentences a lot and I hate that. I went to catholic school with actual nuns for kindergarten through 8th grade and we had one awful old lady nun who'd call us BUD when she got mad, so it strikes a nerve, I guess. FRIENDSHIP all over the show. Christian is Jungle Boy's friend! The Dark Order is Hangman's friend and they believe in him even if he doesn't. More wholesome than a truckload of Wonder Bread. I love Darby's Hot Topic Lee Press-On Nails Ethan Page does nothing for me. What's his deal? Who is his character? He's more generic than Player 1 on Mat Mania. His goal is to destroy Darby's confidence? Maybe just tell Darby nobody believes he'd win in a real fight or something. Honestly you could replace Ross with a soundboard at this rate. (YOUNG MINORITY RASSLER) reminds me so much of (OLD RASSLER OF SAME MINORITY)! I can't wait until he fucks up and says a really tan white dude reminds him of Porkchop Cash. What I'm saying is his comparisons of wrestlers based solely on race is really gross and racist. Anyway, a soundboard would work fine and you wouldn't get slipups like saying the wrong company's name after a great video package. We're going to look back on AEW in five years and be like, "remember when Jim Ross did commentary for them? What was that about?" I can't say enough about how awesome Miro has become. Good for him. And he got some great new music and shed the "Best Man" nickname. The 'tron said "THE REDEEMER." I don't understand people not getting Hangman's arc. He was the friendly, drunk cowboy out to do cowboy shit and win title matches. Then all his friends left him, so he's not that anymore. He's still great in the ring but he's not sure about anything else and probably isn't too keen on wrestling his former friend for the belt. ANDRADE EL IDOLO vs matt something. LOOOOL I ffwd'd the main because I was tired and didn't care too much about it, which is wild because they've built both guys up well. But when I looked at the clock and saw we had 30 mintues still left when the main was starting? Nah, I'm good. What I saw was okay -- I'm still not sold on MJF as being anything special but he's fooled people into thinking he's the modern Piper, so what do I know -- but just too much. I couldn't tell how Reba hurt herself but the aftermath was rough to watch. Kudos to Nyla for the heads-up move of getting her to the ropes. Did Britt shoot kick Vickie for no-selling the finish? Anyway, another great show overall and now they're back on the road. Hopefully this Delta Variant shit isn't bad and we're getting past COVID. Fingers crossed for everybody.

  14. Can't lie, JR took all of the wind out of the sails for this pretty good Dynamite and at the worst possible time. It was the last thing said after a music video highlighting the time spent at Daily's Place and you call your company WWE. Like, you have one fucking job. Come on man. I defended JR on here more than most and think the attacks on him could get a little ghoulish, but this was really fucking bad. There's no defending this. I probably have more thoughts about the show, but that is stupidly the thing I'm thinking about.

  15. Just saw the perfect quote about the JR mishap - "it's like calling your current gf by your ex-gf's name after great sex" ?

  16. Pretty awesome show. The Elite all randomly getting wacky facial hair, Miro's epic new music and praising God (and his flexible, hot wife presumably) after every win, and the main were all highlights. - To get it out of the way, Jim Ross has been a bad commentator for years and at this point I just assume the reason he has a job is more out of pity/respect. He lost his wife, WWE signed him just to ice him and treat him like shit, and he's battled addiction issues. I'm all for cutting him loose but Tony Khan seems to be like he's gonna let JR write his own ending. Ya now - this stuff isn't unprecedented because other sports frequently deal with legendary announcers hanging on far past their ability to do a competent job. Pat Summerall in football, Marv Albert right now calling his last playoffs in the NBA, dozens and dozens of old ass drunk baseball announcers. It is what it is. I think he takes away from the show but this may be something everyone has to live with until his contract expires (maybe in October of this year or next year?) - I loved the main event. Total PWG-style match and a showcase match for both guys. I think it's good for MJF to show that he can actually wrestle because this is a promotion with high main event worker standards. Didn't care for the finish though. Awful. - Pillman Jr looked really good and has improved leaps and bounds the last few months. That's a solid act. - Nice tease of the Hangman stuff and hopefully they drag it out until fans are begging for Page to have the confidence to confront Kenny. Great little tribute at the end to what, in an odd way, is going to end up as an important venue historically. Hopefully next week starts the road back to a better wrestling world for not only AEW but everywhere as we get the indies going and fans back and start building to the big shows in the fall and next spring.

  17. The Dark Order using the power of friendship as the catalyst for Hangman’s ascent to believing in himself is note perfect. AEW is real good at booking wholesome feel good shit sometimes.

  19. That’s not a very good take. Excalibur said it as part of a stupid promo 15+ years ago in front of 50 people, was encouraged to say it by the black wrestler he was in a program with, and immediately regretted it. JR just last night compared two very different wrestlers whose only common trait is their Hispanic descent and, as mentioned, put over Hobbs with a “he speaks so well!” 20+ years after Chris Rock called attention to that shit in his act. I’m not saying the dude wears hoods on weekends like his old pal Dick Murdoch, but I am saying he’s got that low key racism of so many guys of his age and geographic demo.

  21. He also, on commentary on a live mic, rooted for a wardrobe malfunction during a women's match and drooled over what a "lucky man" Kip Sabian is while Penelope Ford was on camera. But we're the assholes for calling him out for his retrograde antics. As mentioned, he's just of a different time. Also, he's completely unmotivated to put forth more than the bare minimum. And he actively dislikes 90% of what he's commentating on. All these things add up.

  22. I forgot to mention I really appreciate Matt Hardy's commitment to the gimmick, with his dyed, desert-dry, frizzy jet black hair. If you're going to work a gimmick as a rich, greedy has-been, then you might as well rock the Gene Simmons hair :D

  23. I don't know what kind of ads you're getting on TNT but on TSN we're seeing a shit load of infomercials. I do not think that a cantankerous third wheel commentator is going to influence their financials. Once he's gone, he will throw Excalibur under the bus, say the AEW style is dogshit (it is not without its flaws of course), and then go back to being lewd on social media. AEW has a year and a half of TV ratings and PPV numbers to demonstrate their viability to people. They do not need JR. Let his deal expire and wish him the best moving forward. Edit: While I know two man booths are generally stronger than three, I really do enjoy Callis alongside Excalibur and Schiavone. Don can pick his spots to go over the top with the heel commentator routine, but otherwise put over both faces and heels. I've really enjoyed his time on commentary in AEW and thought he did well in TNA too. EDIT EDIT: And hell yeah to Vickie with the Wingmen. Perfect spot for her. Get her the fuck away from anybody you want to make money with. I didn't even bother watching the tag last night. They have so much talent relegated to Dark and Elevation, keep managers out the ring. Poor Reba. ?

  24. I knowwww I said I didn't wanna shit on JR more but "(Black guy) reminds me of (completely dissimilar black guy)" is pretty awful on every single level and really has to stop. You know damn well why Will Hobbs reminds you of Butch Reed and it ain't the powerslam, Jim.

  29. So part of this is me letting @BobbyWhioux know about this but another part is me just pointing something wonderful. This week Cassie and Jessica (feels weird not saying Peyton and Billie Kay) were guests on Renee's pod on Tuesday. Then today they guest hosted and interviewed Tay Conti and Anna Jay. While I wish it went longer it was so great hearing two sets of best friends gush over each other. I didn't know I wanted them to face each other until today. But more than that I would love to see them in an 8-woman tag where they go up against a crew of villainous heels.

  30. I've seen people defending the JR thing or saying it's not that bad. I mean, it's pretty fucking bad. There's a solid chance that they had their highest viewership at that moment and you call the show WWE Dynamite. The best analogy I could think of would be like going out to dinner, having a really good dinner, but when you go to leave, the toilet has overflowed and you have to walk through this shitty mess when you're leaving. All you're going to think about first is that shitty mess. Anyway, moving on. I cracked up at the Bucks facial hair. Was happy they lost too, but I don't think they lose the titles to Penta and Eddie. Penta at least continues to be switched on. Maybe it's only when he's the heel that he spams taunts and is generally crappy. Eddie is legendary though. Dude is always good. Miro fucking rules and that match kicked ass. They gave Pillman a lot and Pillman did a really good job with everything he was doing. Miro's new theme music is the shit too. There is something super primal or biblical warrior sounding to the horns that sound during his music. I popped for the whole Dark Order and Kenny segment and the aftermath with Hangman. They're going with the direction that I wrote about on here about a month or so ago. Moving the Coffin Match from Miami makes sense to me given everything that continues to happen there. Good pivot and I'm glad they're not being tone deaf about the tragedy down there. Vickie sucks. Vickie has always sucked. I don't think I have ever liked her and I know you're not supposed to like heels, but she has the always had the wrong type of heel heat with me. Her role with Nyla is no exception. That leads me to Andrade. Ok, they're going with the logical direction of doing Andrade vs Sydal on the 7th. At least they had Abrahantes there with Andrade and not Vickie. Here's hoping they put Abrahantes with Andrade full time or, BEST yet, bring in Zelina Vega. Andrade and Vega together is a top of the card act.

  31. Well, shit. That must really suck sometimes. I can't imagine what that must be like but it doesn't sound like fun. I'm overly ruminative by nature (prone to navel-gazing, as it were) but I think I have control over it, like I seem to be able to turn it off when I've got something to do. Luckily it doesn't seem to keep you from enjoying things that don't set it off. Like, say, Jungle Boy, Hangman Page, and Ricky Starks. Here's to you enjoying the things that you can, to the fullest.

  32. @Technico Support, so, I was gonna take this week off. One of the symptoms of my mental illness is what my therapist would call a tendency to "ruminate and fixate." I see or experience something I don't like and I can't let it go. I'm having trouble figuring out if I actually think the Young Bucks are as awful as I've said the last couple weeks or if I just can't reset mentally and let it lie. Even on medication, there are times when I can't control it. I did watch the show last night, and I was grateful that they sent the Bucks out first, to get it over with. I did have a revelation during the Bucks match last night; the Bucks don't refuse to sell because they're bad at it. They ARE bad at it, but that's not why they don't do it. They don't sell because they have to hurry up and get in place for their next spot. If they aren't in place in time, they can't get enough flips in before their triple piledriver or whatever. I like what Kaz is doing, mostly because seeing Elite guys getting punched in the face is always fun. Pretty good show otherwise. Miro is the best thing in pro wrestling right now, including Roman Reigns. Just so, so fun and cool. Jungle Boy is gonna get massive reactions in front of crowds. Hangman Page, too. Excited for Ricky Starks to be back. Kinda ready for this Pinnacle/Inner Circle thing to be over with. Guevara is very, very good. Really gotten good in-ring. Sounds like Rebel got legit injured. HOpe she's ok, as she's become a massively underrated part of Britt's act.

  33. Seconding that. Since they’ve changed the format to a chronological walk through Arn’s career it’s been fantastic. Arn talking WWE and modern stuff did nothing for me but Arn talking about how bad the roads were between Alexandria and Lake Charles is just my game

  34. Bellator is on free TV in the UK, so I've been exposed to some more Mauro after swearing I never wanted to hear him again after his NXT run. He still does a lot of things I don't like, but he has reined in a lot of the more torturous imagery he was inflicting on us. I suppose he'd be an improvement over JR, but at this point a warm body would be an improvement over JR. The question is: would Mauro be an improvement over Tony Schiavone? I would think not. Also, Jake Hager sucks, but goddamn if they don't do a great job of hiding how much he actually sucks.
