I figured anyone who would buy this book wouldn't need their hand held through professional wrestling. I tried to be pretty informative and go into historical detail, but I no one needed me to tell them what a babyface and a heel was. I also tried to be mostly positive, this was a love letter to pro-wrestling, and while I occasionally took a shot or two, this was about greatness in many forms, and no one needed another book full of snark.

This is gonna sound weird and bad, but I actually have some empathy toward Swann because of what I have heard him say about his childhood in shoot interview stuff - he's a victim of the cycle of abuse himself. If he's legitimately doing the work to improve as a person, and Su's standing by him (God bless her) who am I to say 'lets throw him in the trash' just because he had the absolute worst kind of shit modeled for him as a kid and did the statistically likely thing? Now, if he KEPT doing it, that's on him 100%, and that's a different conversation entirely. Velveteen, on the other hand, instead of having any kind of remorse or doing any kind of self-reflection, seems to get worse the more we hear (grooming! Schamberger! Pee tapes??) Apples and oranges.

Kudos, I’d make a decent ‘Before’ version of you lol. You guys have inspired me to get back on the wagon with the fitness. Consistency is my issue, as I’ll be in ‘working towards something’ mode for several weeks then I’ll reach a point where an hour of doing something else is more precious than training, then fall off the wagon and repeat again when I get to the point of feeling like ‘2kg of yoghurt in a 1kg bag’. Being 5’11’’ with a slim frame and 170lb at my absolute heaviest, it’s more varying degrees of skinny-fat than obese per se but still feels like shit. I tend to do variations of the Convict Conditioning with a bit of free weights and stop soda/ chips/chocolate/cookies and that’s enough to get trim and defined but putting on muscle has always been a real chore for me so pretty much gave up in my 20s (37 now). Anyhoo, I’ll watch from the sidelines impressed by @El Gran Gordi videos and the rest.

I always thought Dream was talented too. I just figured there was no way he was ever getting called up because Vince would never get the gimmick or if he did, he would make him go off the rails with the androgyny. Allegations aside, I think at some point he really started being The Velveteen Dream. Like he was living that gimmick 24/7 and at some point it stopped being a gimmick.

IIRC AEW ran a misdirection play along these lines with Abadon's TV debut Anna Jay getting the promo package and the pre-match talking up by the broadcast team does set up the expectation that she's going to be the one to shine in this upcoming match but Abadon ends up squashing her (though admittedly that initial expectation does start getting turned on its head as soon as Abadon gets Second Introduction.)

I actually watched most of this show. Tapped out with half an hour left because the only match they were hyping was obviously not having a clean finish. Whole lot of talking. Talking, talking talking. And almost all of it was Roman and the Usos. The announcers were marking out for the Guitar playing, but the dude wasn't exactly Maxx Payne out there. He was off key as often as he was on it. And then some throwaway line about the Brand Exchange Agreement where you can wrestle for the other brand once every quarter, which you'd think would be a pretty big deal with an official announcement or something.

It's rainy season here where I live so the humidity is high now and will remain high until mid-October, most likely. It gets hot here in the summer, too. Not just "hot for a Canadian" but 35°C+ (about 95°F+) every day for weeks on end, with high humidity every day as well. Muggy. One of the best pieces of advice I received on moving here was "Summers are not too bad if you can get used to being sweaty." I own lots of quick-dry fibre type shirts now. I have strategies for coping. I got my first real sweat out of the way last night. Hit the gym after work. Kettlebell pullover goblet squats, hand-to-hand kettlebell swigs, running the rack on dumbbell clean and presses. When I took off my quick dry shirt and stood in front of the fan, the sweat just started pouring out of me. It literally got to the point where my towel could not absorb any more. I changed into a cotton shirt for the 10-minute walk home and it was soaked through by the time I arrived back here. It's still kinda damp now. Sweat kept cascading out of my pores for almost an hour. Mixed up a shake in my biggest shaker bottle, downed it, then filled it up with water and drank the dregs. After much though, deliberation, and research (and mainly due to this article from the often-excellent T-Nation site) I have decided to add collagen to my supplement regimen. I'll try it for a couple of months and see if my joints feel any less creaky.
