  1. Bring the streak of "can't miss" people that they missed on to about 80.

  2. My dad came home from the hospital today. They think he had a brain aneurysm though it seems to have healed on its own before they could find out for sure. He is back to himself and only seems to be walking a little slow right now due to being in a bed for nearly a week. I'm just happy to see him in the state he is now. I'm always a little fearful just for the various things that can happen at his age with some of his health issues, but last weekend was just so damn scary. I'm just thankful that the worst has seemingly passed though my older brother and myself will probably be watching him like hawks for at least a few weeks.

  8. Man, it's not that this PPV was bad. I thought most of the in-ring work was solid, hokey zombie shit notwithstanding. It's how stale and just.... same that product feels. This programming is just screaming for a bevy of fresh faces and instead we get yet another configuration of the same people. I appreciate everything Drew McIntyre did during the pandemic to keep the Raw show watchable, but it's gotten old. Strowman just doesn't do it for me. Lashley is awesome, but how many times can he be expected to have watchable, fresh matches with the same handful of guys? It just feels very.... bleh. Solid ring work from bell to bell, just nothing worth getting the least bit excited over.

  9. I'm not saying you are saying this but I'm using your comment to jump out on. Releasing your lower card talent to make room for more upper card talent is a mistake. It ignores the ideas of roles in the promotion. Remember you not only need roster room but you need someone to lose to that talent. Otherwise you have systemic win trading which puts everyone on the same narrative plain and has historically been a storytelling failure.

  12. Given that AEW is spending good money to bring people like Christian Cage and Paul Wight, along with licensing deals for the real music for Jungle Boy, Orange Cassisy, and now Moxley, I somehow don't think that Peter Avalaon's contract (likely among the smallest of the regular roster) or place on the roster is stopping AEW from signing Andrade.

  13. Semi-nonsense. Miro is the best guy in the game when it comes to making his midcard holding patterns entertaining and keeping his credibility. Not saying that the gamer gimmick + Kip were necessarily good calls, but few active wrestlers, if any, were going to whip up such nice Chicken Salad (tm). Dude adds curry, walnuts, celery, maybe apples. Uses the good mayo. He was always going to emerge as a main player.

  14. Skimming through some Raw results, it looks like he was on a decent little push before he vanished. A couple wins against Sheamus, a win against Riddle, a competitive title match against McIntyre. Him disappearing completely after getting hurt or sick and people reflexively chalking that up to "Vince bad" as a default position is certainly in keeping with the thought virus that makes him the cause of all wrong in the universe. Not even saying anyone's wrong, but it's interesting what sort of things people do and don't find it acceptable to go off on without evidence. Hope Lee is healthy and back in the mix soon.

  15. Also, let's look at how, yet again, another can't miss person was fucking ruined coming up to the main roster. Keith Lee is immediately over on the main roster after his Royal Rumble and Survivor Series appearances. The Survivor Series appearance is more notable since they actually pushed the guy and made him seem like a big deal. Then he just fucking disappears off the main roster. He comes back and doesn't really get a chance to talk, but gets some cool moments with Braun and shit like that. And then they change his entrance music to some fucking garbage. And then they change his ring gear because to Vince or Kevin Dunn or someone, he's fat. He proceeds to do nothing except winning by DQ or fuck finishes because WWE can't be bothered to heavily push more than 2 guys at one time. By this point, it's hard to believe they'll do anything with Keith Lee. He gets hurt or sick and is just gone from TV. You could build a whole other promotion out of the amount of can't miss guys WWE has fucked around and done nothing with.

  20. As of right now - it was approved on a one year deal. The NBA really really wants it to become permanent. I think the fly in the ointment is going to be that I don't think you are going to easily get the players to approve it this time.

  21. I totally get that he's not very self aware. But long term, I think it has the potential to go somewhere if done right. Especially if they start touring internationally. Kind of like an anti-1997 Bret Hart? Maybe I'm just viewing this through rose coloured glasses lol.

  24. We made chicken salad out of that lumberjack match. My nephew and his pals sat and made fun of it with us. I had hyped them up about what a lumberjack match is and then that happened. The boys laughed and MST3K'd it with me and my pal Chris.

  27. YouTube recommended a channel that includes, among other things, a treasure trove of commercials about wrestling or featuring wrestlers over the years. So apparently Jesse Ventura and Nathan Lane starred in a Miller Lite commercial. Wonder if Warrior ever got that Yugo? The last commercial in the 1988 video -- who is the guy with the earrings? The Giant Baba ads are gold. There are more commercials to be found on that channel -- good way to waste an hour or two.

  28. Unless he is filming all four of them at the same time, I really don't see Avatar 2 doing the type of blockbuster business that would justify continuing on for another three movies after that. Is there any other movie made since 2000 that made such a ridiculous amount of money during its initial run while leaving little long-term pop-culture impact at all? Its not a movie that is referenced or meme'd much at all in recent years, and the excitement for Avatar 2 appears to be on par for when Dumb & Dumber 2 came out, which is little-to-none.

  33. 1/8/90: Tenryu/Kawada/Fuyuki vs Jumbo/Tiger Mask/TAKAGI: Doing a scan of the house show which wasn't available to the community until a year or two ago. It's cool to see this stuff which I know @jdwor @ditchor any of the other guys who got there first years before me haven't been able to see. We'll do this one on Segunda Caida as a New Footage Friday at some point and I'll be more meticulous there, but here's the short thoughts: Whenever Takagi is in, it's really good. Whenever Tenryu's in, it's amazing. I think this is the absolute meanest I've seen him chronologically so far; it makes sense for two reasons. First and foremost, yeah, Takagi ambushed him before the Koloff match a few days earlier. This isn't the first match after that but it's the first one we have footage of. But second, in 89, most of the times we saw Tenryu, he was up against Jumbo, yes, but the other guys paired with Jumbo were usually Yatsu or Kabuki. Sometimes Takano. Rarely was it Takagi or Kobashi or Taue and Tiger Mask was most of the year. So this mini-feud is a real chance to see him in there against a younger upstart, let alone directly paired with the guy stepping to him. There was a bit of clunky stuff with Tiger Mask vs Footloose in here (botched run-up something in the corner) and some really good stuff too (his flip off the top rope especially) and I thought he actually matched up really well against Tenryu. Jumbo was fierce as a papa bear type coach, clapping on the apron and rushing in when his guys were getting maligned. But the best stuff was after Takagi knocked Tenryu off the apron. Oh man, was that a mistake.

  35. The 2021 HoF class is Paul Pierce, Chris Bosh, Ben Wallace, Chris Webber for men's players, Rick Adelman, Jay Wright, and Bill Russel for coaches, Yolanda Griffith and Lauren Jackson for women's players, and Toni Kukoc from the international committee. I'd say all the players are pretty borderline HoFers but I have no real beef with any of them getting in.
