  1. Still only enough for a studio apartment in SF.

  2. I'm black and I completely thought he was a black guy back then. Either Mero was using the same serum as C. Thomas Howell in Soul Man or he's going to die of skin cancer b/c he was really dark.

  3. Nash has always had his eye on the pay cheque and where he's positioned but to say he had no passion for the business is ludicrous otherwise he wouldn't still be making indie dates prior to his recent surgery. Hes one of the guys Austin always talks about regarding constantly talking the biz and booking the territory, so many here seem to be confusing passion with effort - He's not gonna kill himself to put on a five star match when he's getting paid the same regardless, and I respect that more than I respect a nutcase like Benoit.

  4. Now I am picturing a Rachel Dolezal-esque angle where Marvelous Marc joins the Nation of Domination.

  5. I don't know who made this call, but here's both PN News and Badd in the WCW comic.

  6. Didn’t WCW once usher out PN News on some sort of black athlete episode of some talk show? *Great, I’m glad this stupid comment is at the top on the new page.

  8. It's crazy how many of these reviews I'll read where I'll get through like five matches before I realize I've seen the show before.

  10. Wasn't Sid talking to Hall and Nash? Technically one man does have half the brain of two men.

  11. Don Callis made a shitty joke about how Goto has a "tremendous set of balls." Kevin Kelly didn't acknowledge the joke, so Callis said it again, it was like the time Bischoff repeated the "scissors" reference on that Nitro while shouting to Sid. Kevin Kelly then started mumbling something about the necklace being Buddhism ritual wear, then Don Callis started obnoxiously yelling that Kelly just looked it on Google while Kelly sounded legitimately pissed that Callis was yelling about that. I actually like Kelly/Callis as a team more than most people, but that seriously may be an all-time contender for worst 30 seconds of wrestling commentary.

  13. How's a Sid shoot interview? You know, with half a brain, and all?

  14. Slightly disappointing show but that was more down to my very high expectations. My body gave out at around 3:00 and I didn't want a repeat of the G1 final when I passed out early in the main event only to awake to the last 30 seconds. Even after sleeping for a bit EVIL/Goto still put me back to sleep, but it doesn't sound like I missed much. That was probably the best YOSHI-HASHI match I've seen. He really brought everything he had and it still wasn't enough. I enjoyed Naito going to put his hat on his fallen opponent only to pull back and spit on him. Wasn't much but as far as Naito goes, it's a sign of respect I guess. Nobody does submission close calls better than Naito. SANADA said he hadn't shown everything to Okada in their press conference and as great as the match was, I don't think he showed anything beyond what we've seen from him. I wanted an extra layer either through a new move (as Beech mentioned, he does not have a head drop type of big move) or show some real desperation and emotion. I guess that avalanche GTR thing was new, but this was more or less the typical Okada IWGP title defense formula, which admittedly is great. So as great as it was, I wanted just that little bit more from SANADA. I was in and out of the junior match but I didn't love it. Archibald did a good job of detailing what was wrong with it. They have a way better match in them. Nagata had easily the best match from Kitamura's trial series. That was so much fun.

  15. Learned from Prime Time: Rockin' Robin is too skinny for Lord Alfred. He's all about that Judy Martin action.

  16. That reminds me that they incorporated the leg injury from the Revival match that hadn't even happened yet into the CWC match and how hard that ruled.

  17. Apparenly Jimmy G's contract is massively front-loaded because of how much cap space the 49ers have right now and he's getting like $40+ million out of the first season, which even after taxes is... *checks math* a large sum of money.

  18. Hot take: 205 Live was always a pretty good show in front of a dead crowd. The change isn't as dramatic as people think.

  19. Without watching it, my most vivid memory of it is Lord Alfred Hayes trying the drink and hating it while Hogan reacts with a sarcastic/dismissing face. Edit: Screengrabs:

  24. I liked that a lot. I'd have loved it if the Skull End didn't look like it does, but if you accept it as a neck crank rather than Dragon Sleeper, it's fine. And anyway, I shouldn't be complaining, since the neck was a consistent focus for both men. I feel like that's been pretty typical of Okada defenses? Don't bother with body parts, I can kick out of your big stuff anyway, and you won't kick out of the Tombstone/Rainmaker combo--especially not after a few weaker lariats. And that... sorta worked. Only sorta, because SANADA was too quick to get hit by those initial Rainmakers--which is pretty impressive, considering Okada was able to use that strategy successfully on other athletic heavies like Naito and Omega. SANADA doesn't have the big head drop finish that so many top heavyweights do, but the Skull End does what it does, and so he went for the moonsault, his biggest weapon. And he hit it! But Okada survived, because that's what he does, and the knee SANADA hurt on his first attempt at the move bothered him again. So, SANADA didn't have the mobility he'd used to dodge the Rainmaker previously. Once he got hit, it was academic, as it's been for everyone else. Really good showing, though. Anyway, on to the next. Okada's reign has been incredible--still is!--but the crowd is gonna self-immolate when he loses it.
