All Out IV - 9/4/2022

I was gonna write this in the Dynamite thread but it's more relevant here.

What do we think the chances are that in the Casino ladder match the Joker ends up being Spears just to throw everyone off and tease like there's no big surprise this time? Then MJF shows up during the main event, either to challenge the winner after the match or to cost Moxley the belt but then be like "Now you owe me, Punk" or something.

I actually think Spears kind of sucks and would rather they just release him since they have enough scummy heels in this company as is, but it would be a good way to pay off him and MJF both having disappeared at the same time. Maybe even have him come out dressed like MJF as if he's kinda lost his mind from being MJF's stooge for so long, like when Kilmer dressed like Brando in Dr. Moreau.

I don’t know if it’s Morrissey, but I definitely think it’s someone related to Stokely’s group.

Stokely just deleted his Twitter, and Twitter is that man’s life, which suggests he’s going dark ahead of something big.

(Of course, he could have it back up in an hour. Who knows.)

I hope the show delivers like hell (and I’m sure it will) but outside of Christian/Jungle Boy I’m just not feeling it. Least buzz I’ve had for an AEW PPV to date.

I’ve also decided that I just don’t want to see Hobbs and Starks fighting. Both dudes rule the world and I want them both as mega singles stars and not a team, but man this is like watching my kids fight. Let them go their separate ways but have each other’s backs.

Nearly every AEW PPV is a home run. Their track record for PPVs is nothing short of incredible. This is maybe at the same level of Forbidden Door in terms of having a bunch of matches without a ton of build because of multiple factors. Dynamite really sold me on the main event being Punk vs Moxley. I just want that match to be brutal as fuck. I also keep thinking back to MJF's last promo where he said it wouldn't be right away, but he was going to hurt Punk where it hurts most. I'm not sure if that's going to be causing Punk to lose in Chicago or ensuring Punk wins so he can torment Punk until Full Gear and dethrone him for the title there.

CM Punk and MJF are 1 a piece this year needing the rubber match. MJF would say he's 2-1 beating Punk twice in their first match in Chicago. Gave both ***** preferring the Dynamite match to the Dog Collar match at AEW Revolution on my Birthday.

I noticed that they are calling the pre-show "Zero Hour," which is the name they use for the ROH PPV pre-shows.

Surprising that they didn't keep using "Buy-In," since "All Out" is related to the original "All In."

Not a ROH fan so I don’t know where the name was used first, but All In used Zero Hour too.

Zero Hour sounds alot better than Buy In which if you weren't aware it's a free Pre-show, you could be put off thinking there's a paywall

Fuck Big Bang Theory is always a worthy argument. I'm surprised this person didn't squeeze in The Equalizer instead.

Claudio gets to be in the ladder match because he's the best base not named Black Taurus around right now. Now since somebody brought up Ibushi, him being the surprise guy in this would be crazy.

EDIT: You know let me elaborate on this a minute. Claudio: Great base. Rush: Great base. Freakin' ANDRADE: Great base. Fenix and Martin are killer flyers and we don't know what Yuta is gonna do really; Pentagon can do his dumb thing like always. So they need another really good flyer. If it's Ibushi, can you imagine him going MDK on Penta for the taunt?

Fite.tv + VPN = $20 US. That's an easy decision for me. If I were paying $50 CDN, it would be a different story and I'd have to give it more thought. I've regretted a couple of AEW PPV purchases. Hardy concussion show fucked my stoned ass up for real and I found this year's Revolution to be deflating with the weak crowd, bad stretch in the middle, and less than stellar main event on paper though it was adequate in delivery. Despite that, they bat at a significantly higher percentage than any other company I've followed with their big shows, barring the recent golden age NJPW stretch. Then again, putting on straight forward good wrestling matches is a way easier target to hit than the crash tv/big storyline extravaganzas Khan aims for, and they were usually pretty damn top heavy with exceptions like G1 shows.

edit: to clarify, you don't need to use a vpn while watching the show, just in ordering off of Fite. Super easy.

Oh, man I'd fucking love Kota Ibushi to go all Murder Ibushi Mode on Pentagon. I want to slap that fucker like Obelix slaps the Romans.

I'm thinking Bryan Danielson vs. Chris Jericho will be the match of the night.

There's no real dream matches on this.  I think I only buy PPVs that have AEW guys taking on non-AEW guys.  If Aussie Open took on FTR or something I would get it.  Will Ospreay taking on Kenny Omega would get me to buy a PPV.  This seems like a bunch of matches that would kick off hour two of Dynamite.  Ishii vs Kingston would move the needle a little but that's on the pre-show.
