Another good show. Excalibur switched up the intro from the usual "you know what that means".

not sure how i feel about Excalibur kicking off the show without Brodie Lee's "it's Wednesday, you know what that means". had to happen sooner or later, i suppose.

I may be alone, but I find it refreshing not to hear that phrase.

Vin Scully opened every Dodgers broadcast with “Hi everybody and a very pleasant good evening to you wherever you may be.” Vin died Tuesday, and Excalibur is an LA guy, so he opened the show with those words to pay homage to Vin. It was a one-off tribute, I'm sure. I would imagine the Brodie phrasing will be back on Rampage.

I’d also suggest, tho I undeniably enjoy her current ring gear, I wonder if something slightly more respectable might be a better idea for her and the company overall. Perhaps I’m wrong here.

Yeah. Wrong and kinda gross.

They should pull the trigger on her. For one thing, you need an actual title change on one of these Battle of the Belts. Run it for a couple of months where Baker gets more and more jealous of her being champ. You can use ThunderStorm as an attraction and feud them with TayJay or something. Rosa doesn't need the belt right now.

I was thinking having her upset Rosa at BotB3 would be a slightly shocking but very smart move. Lead to some tension with Britt, still have Storm and Rosa chasing the belt.

One of the first movies I ever saw in a theater. I'M NOT OLD @DEAN, YOU'RE OLD! Head for Denny's, I think the Early Bird ends at 4!

I had the youth novel adaptation of that movie that I got from Scholastic book fair.

Wrong, okay. Go on. Guh'wha? What's that about? Is it the inability to not enjoy said ring gear that you find offensive'? Or the suggestion that maybe she'd be better off with a presentation that doesn't elicit shock from first time or mulitple time viewers? Especially a consideration when the shows are bumped to early afternoon on the west coast feed. Anyway, I'll try to keep it to hairstyles. Looks like that's okay in your playbook.

Neat. Had no idea. Oh well, I'm okay with them keeping on keeping on. More interested in the dissolution of the stale Dark Order.

RIP truly legendary Vin Scully.

Guest Stefanie Without Stefanie

Personally I could do without the in-depth analysis of a woman's attire or appearance, because it's almost always out of balance with how people discuss the presentation of men, but y'all do you.

I have some thoughts on Dragon Lee's attire, but not looking to offend any further.

Asking Dean to not have a wall of text is like asking Picasso to paint people "normal looking".

A distressing percentage of AEW discussion (here and elsewhere, now and earlier) overall is and always has been people asking Picasso to paint people "normal looking."

Like, say, wanting Hobbs to have a stereotypical big man finisher. Or complaining about the guy wearing sunglasses and wrestling with his hands in his pockets. Or more or less demanding that Cole and the Bucks get on the gas. Or Mad King go on a diet. Or that Hangman stomp mudholes in people and drink beer instead of sipping whiskey, hanging out with nerds, and doubting himself. Or that Hook needs to talk, Keith Lee should wear a singlet, Japanese wrestlers should get video introductions explaining who they are, and Kenny needs to stop making weird gestures.

It's not even necessarily that all of those ideas are wrong. It's that... Can't we please just let the creative people be creative instead of trying to cram them all into pre-existing moulds. Some of the "weird" ideas have ended up working out really well. I am glad we have slightly tweaked OC, Anxious Millennial ex-champ, and short-shorts-wearing Keith Lee to enjoy, week in and week out.

I used to say that, "If you want to watch a wrestling program where everything is micro-managed to fit existing cliches that any pro wrestling grandpa would be comfortable with, it already exists and is not difficult to find." Possibly that is no longer the case! Hooray! Free the creative spirit! Let your freak flag fly!

And, yeah, if reading a "wall of text" is too much work for you, maybe you don't deserve to enjoy DEAN's pearls of insight and comparison. ?

Not to be a hypocrite, but... ‘gross and wrong.’ I do think you’ve helped towards striking the balance discussed as being out of whack.

It's the word "respectable." As in the idea of her gear, or any woman's clothes, for that matter, denotes a level of respect with which she should be treated.

Fuck a time zone or a time slot. It's entirely a you issue.

Now that makes perfect sense! And Vin Scully was a national treasure; one of the voices of my sports life.  Scully is part of the soundtrack of Southern California

Easy tiger! A bit of a ridiculous jump there suggesting a degree of respect/treatment was in question, but you're entitled to whatever conclusion you choose to believe. I see how you've calculated this, and sorry to have misled you. Thanks for sharing. I also appreciate your clear Jamie Hayter fandom. She's one my favorites in the company as well. And numero uno of the Women's Division. Peace?

He's not the super worker the other three are but he is DESTINED to be champion.

How have I calculated this?

You said it: "I’d also suggest, tho I undeniably enjoy her current ring gear, I wonder if something slightly more respectable might be a better idea for her and the company overall. Perhaps I’m wrong here."

She isn't wearing anything more revealing than Mandy Rose or even Toni Storm most nights, for that matter. Both of whom are pushed at the top or very near the top of their divisions. Jamie's gear isn't going to make a damn bit of difference whether or not she gets a push. Over the last six or so months, she's knocked it out of the park in every match and segment that she's in. That it hasn't translated into a push is thoroughly on Tony's insistence on keeping with his plan. The idea that Jamie wearing different gear being better for the company is laughable, especially when they just put on a barbed wire match on national cable TV and Mox is landing somewhere on the Muta Scale every week.

Really, I'm just trying to get you to think about what you said.

In the interest of staying on topic.

I’m fairly certain Hayter had new gear with a color scheme that matched closer to Bakers.  Perhaps a subtle nod to the teams development getting them a win.

You’re right. They mentioned that on commentary.

Their new gear was in Cody's red/gold/blue Homelander colour scheme too. The same night that Hobbs took the centre ring entrance, which we will now be referring to as the Power Lift.

As much money as there is in a Hayter split, I see big things for their team which hasn't stopped getting better

Indeed.  It’s a great pairing with Britt.

I just love how physical she is in ring.  She seemingly has no fear of the mat.  She always bumps hard attacking each slam etc with enthusiasm.  There is just something in the way she moves that reminds me of Kawada.  I kinda want her main offensive move to be nothing but Yakuza kicks.

I’m not certain Hayter is ready to be champion just yet.  But if she has another banger at BOTB with Thunder Rosa like she did late last year?  That should springboard her right into the path that’ll get her there.
