RIPPA
Only a single because a) it rocketed off the wall so fast and hard back to the OF and b) Cruz thought it was a HR “It’s probably good that ball hit a wall, because it might have hurt somebody if it had been up a little higher,” Braves Manager Brian Snitker said of Cruz’s hit after the game, a 14-2 Atlanta win. Craig H
Baseball is full of wacky "injuries." I'll always remember Sammy Sosa throwing his back out by sneezing.

Dolfan in NYC
In one of those, life is too ridiculous stats. Today, August 29th, 2022: Albert Pujols hit a home run tonight and Serena Williams won her US Open match. And, August 29th, 2001: Albert Pujols hit a home run tonight and Serena Williams won her US Open match. Pujols now holds the record for HR's off the most different pitchers (450) and is 6 away from the 700 club.
RIPPA
Aaron Judge hit his 50th HR last night. His current pace is 63. He is the 10th MLB player with multiple 50 HR seasons and only the 7th to have 50 prior to September* (the last player to do it was Giancarlo Stanton in 2017). * - it has been done 10 times with Sammy Sosa doing it 3 times and Mark McGwire doing it twice

RIPPA
Tony La Russa is out indefinitely with an "unspecified medical issue" Miguel Cairo is acting as the White Sox interim manager Quote White Sox manager Tony La Russa is out indefinitely as he undergoes medical tests in Arizona, according to the team on Wednesday. La Russa, 77, missed Tuesday night's game against the Kansas City Royals after participating in regular pregame activities. Within an hour of first pitch, doctors advised him not to manage. "We were trying to figure out what was going on," outfielder Andrew Vaughn said. "They mentioned a few things, maybe his heart, or something like that." Bench coach Miguel Cairo will continue to manage until La Russa returns. He was at the helm for Tuesday's 9-7 loss to the Royals, Chicago's fifth consecutive defeat. Cairo indicated that there was no incident after pregame which prevented La Russa from managing. Instead, it was La Russa's doctors who reached out and told him to stand down. "He was fine yesterday," Cairo said before Wednesday's game against the Royals. "He was feeling fine. I talked to him today. He was fine."
