That's what you remember from that interview? I remember him saying his first sexual experience involved putting leaves and dirt up a girl's vagina way, way clearer.

And, if i remember correctly, the same girl married Vince's abusive stepfather.  Earlier in the interview, Vince expresses some regret that that same stepfather died before Vince could kill him (he abused both Vince and his mother).

That whole interview is surreal.  Vince brags about cheating on Linda, wishes he could have killed a guy, confirms without actually saying the words that his mother (sexually) abused him, admits he doesn't remember when he lost his virginity or to who (that's kinda telling coming from a guy with very outdated views on women), the leaf thing, etc. etc.

Actually, what I remember most about the interview is Vince going out of his way to defend his early life as kinda normal and not that bad, then proceeding to make the whole thing sound like some sort of twisted Southern Gothic,

The plot thickens.

The heavy trading on the day the news broke doesn't surprise me at all. It also doesn't mean anything. It's a lot of people either thinking it's time to dump the stock because it's a horrible look or it's a lot of people thinking it's time to buy the stock because it's now on the cheap and/or it might pressure an acquisition for the company, which would mean whoever is going to make the purchase is going to pay a premium on the outstanding shares to make that happen.

An example of this is Elon Musk buying Twitter. He had to pay more for the shares to make the deal happen then what Twitter's share price was selling for on a stock exchange. If NBC or whoever is going to buy the WWE, to make it happen they'll have to may more for the shares then they trade for. So if you buy a share at $60, to make the deal happen NBC might have to buy the shares for $67. And, BTW, Vince with all of the voting power will singlehandedly make that decision since that's a shareholder's vote.

If you're an insider and you want to buy or sell shares, you have to disclose that to the SEC, along with getting approval from the board of directors to do so. That takes a lot of time. There's no point if you're an insider of making a transaction the day the news breaks. First, it's an awful look. And, second, the news event triggers the activity.

You'll want to make your insider deal ahead of the news breaking and the general public finding out.

Like Kevin Dunn, who sold off $1 million of his shares at the end of May.

Read my story again. On a typical day, 600,000 WWE shares change hands. Yesterday, 2.1 million WWE shares changed hands - well over triple the usual activity - BEFORE the story broke.

And that doesn't mean insider trading from people on the board of directors within the WWE. That likely means a big investor or two caught wind of the WSJ article coming out before it got published. That happens.

If it comes out that a bunch of the WWE Board of Directors sold off their shares three hours before the WSJ published this article, then there would be an insane SEC investigation. That's not how this works.

The only really surprising part, to me, is how many people are surprised by this.

The real surprises so far are probably more about Vince not being directly accused of rape again and Vince doubling the salary of the woman he was fucking on the side.

Aren't the two classes of shares set up in such a way that although its publicly traded, the McMahons hold the balance of power in such a scenario anyway?

I mean given everything that's gone on this year, Steph/Hunter voting him out isn't that big a stretch, but it would be a huge kick in the share price for them to make such a concession, no?

Vince has 80% of the voting power.

Stephanie has 5% of the voting power.

Linda has 1% of the voting power.

Shane & Triple H both have 0% of the voting power.

Ain't nobody voting Vince out of anywhere. He has 80% of the votes. He will never be ousted without a long and dirty fight.

What really stimies me here is to go to all this trouble to get rid of Vince after all this time. You could give have given him something to create a heart attack any time in the last 30 years and not one single person would have batted an eye that Vince McMahon suddenly had a heart attack. We would all be like “of course he did.it’s miraculous it didn’t happen 20 years ago.”

even Columbo would be like “you know there was something bothering me about this…but then I saw the toxicology report and I was like oh…shit this guy had a heart attack.”

how bad are they all at business?

Maybe having a 70+ year old man loaded up on Viagra and banging a paralegal WAS their heart attack plan.

From a more simplistic point of view in regards to the stock, the timing of this story coming out was probably ideal from a stock price perspective because the market at large is in a total free fall.

I forget what day it was this week, but I think I read it was the first time since 1990 that every stock in the S&P had closed in the red on a given day.

Stock is going to fall on a story like this, but when it can be masked with a market free fall, that probably softens the blow.

Also, if there is any serious chances of WWE being sold which is a theory that many (myself included) believe, this is probably the thing that expedites that process. It's a big part of the reason that the ActivisionBlizzard thing came around so quickly.

The stock has barely moved on the news. It's actually up a little bit for the week. It's down 2.5% today, but that's not a big deal at all. It'd be major news if it was down something like 10% but a 2.5% drop in a stock price is just a blip on the radar. Every stock has a drop like that pretty regularly.

This says to me that big investors are saying:

1) The "Vince McMahon is the most important person to the success of the company" thing is no longer true.

2) The WWE already locked up its revenue and Peacock/Fox/etc. aren't going to try to get out of anything now.

3) They think the company's sale is inevitable.

You all thought Cody's endgame was being AEW or RoH booker? Well have I got news for you.

Two things:

1) OF COURSE Cody is a big enough goober that he has this in his home.

2) Cody as WWE booker?  Get ready for a 500% increase in angles based on DC comics storylines, which go over like a fart in church and then Cody gets pretty mad about the marks not getting it.

lol Vince gon make Steph, Shane, HHH, Johnny Ace, Bruce, and Kevin Dunn all wear them Twilight Zone masks overnight and the next morning everyone's face will be hideously transformed except Dunn will look exactly the same, then Vince will pop out and go, "I guess the mask tapped out on you, pal! Hahaha!"

What wrestling move rhymes with wiener?

Vince is out of control, he’s being led by his wiener,

he loves NDA’s like ODB loved Cody Deaner.

He thought he was clear, that they would just let it go,

Someone should have told him “Settle down Hollywood Vince-etico”

I sent that image of Nick on the MK ladder to my to one of my friends and here is what we got. Nick Khan picks off the McMahon's one by one. Nick Khan somehow gains control of WWE. Then Tony Khan shows up on WWE tv a few weeks later. A couple years later we get the documentary "The Fall of WWE" a.k.a. "The Long Khan".

This is a strawman, I don't think anyone is actually surprised by this.  I've read the entire thread, and I don't think anyone said anything that even seemed like they were surprised by this.  We aren't the people being interviewed outside of the serial killers house talking about how they never knew.  Honestly, I'd be that there is a consensus on this board that Vince knowingly covered up a murder, none of us are surprised by this.  We kind of all know who Vince McMahon is, and we're just discussing the latest example of Vince being Vince.

In the interest of clarity, I didn't mean people here. I meant in general. I guess it shows how far in the bubble I am that I didn't realize the general outside world would be shocked.

For all of the intrigue of the late 90's/early 2000's that pro wrestling brought, these last couple of years have been so much weirder.

*me, wishing on a monkey's paw*: "I wish for professional wrestling over the next decade to have awesome storylines with twists and turns that I don't see coming at all."

*the paw's index finger curls inward as, emanating somewhere in the ether, the sounds of haunting, evil, mocking laughter reverberate around the room*

Not a fucking clue how reliable these folks are, but that sell off by Dunn isn't going to just slip thru the cracks, I don't think ?

Then I guess this is a nothing-burger?
