6/8/2022!- AEW DYNAMITE!

DEAN

Even weirder, June 8 was World Ocean's Day. Was TK up all night doing blow and watching ocean PSAs on his YouTube feed and then next thing we know he shows up to Dynamite with a new belt and a questionable working knowledge of where oceans are located?

I don’t want to see Jeff Hardy die.  But I have some airplane glue if he needs it next week.

I get the impression Jeff has plenty of model airplane glue in his trailer.  The trailer that almost blew up because of all the "spray paint" he had in it for "making art?"  Yeah, that one.

May or may not be a pic of Jeff's trailer

I'm all for willing the Rumble Rules replacing the clunky Casino, but that was fun nonetheless. Especially the latter half. TK may be a numbers guy but he's not a details guy at least not this week. An Interim Championship is already a questionable choice, but to promote a Battle Royal for your top prize minus so many top talent is ridiculous.  And why are most of the teams coming into this thing together? It also seems like an oversight to book a heel winner who then has to face a dominant and fresh top babyface later in the show. And after all that to have both Hangman and Wardlow basically bury the whole spiel and remind everyone that the winner isn't the real champion, nor the top guy, is completely mindboggling. That said, no complaints on the actual match nor the fantastic Moxley-Kyle O'Reilly main event. KOR is fucking awesome. Wheeler Yuta continues to shine. Also, fun stuff with Swerve. Was pulling for an Andrade win there. Might be time to start working that incredible performer up the card. Rosa-Shafir was fantastic - hilarious to hear Jimbo remind everybody twice how awkward the match was. Toni run in and post match was excellent as well. All that said, why is Rosa needing to have an open challenge for her title with 5 contenders in place? The details, the details! A flip from Rosa to Marina making the challenge is all that was required. Finlay-Page and Buddy-Pac were both as terrific as expected. Finlay badly needs some work on the presentation (see decent looking gear), but great showing on a national stage. Stoked for the Rampage 6 man. I hate more title belts more than anything, and especially in a company that feels required to shoehorn every title into their PPVs. On top of that the random challengers chosen for their country of birth is idiotic. All that said, no hard feelings for the stupid booking decisions this week as this company has proven ability to bounce back and recognize a lot of their mistakes. Oh, and what a wonderful Eddie Kingston promo! Stoked for Hager-Kingston and the entire Rampage.

* I'm confused, does anyone know what's going on with Mark Sterling and Jade Cargill? Are they done now that Stokely Hathaway is with her?

Sterling still rocks the TNT Title lapel pin so maybe not officially?

I didn't mind it being a casino battle royale as it ripped the bandaid off on how bare the cupboard was for credible winners. Doing Rumble style you just extend the pain of everyone expecting top level guys to be involved, and probably end up giving guys who don't deserve it a negative reaction, ala the Bryan rumble.

No idea. But if anything's going on, Mark and Stoke definitely saw one another at TV this week and could have cleared the air if they so desired.

I don't really get why they did this without proper explanation. Even when Mr. Perfect switched from Bobby to the Coach they did a segment on TV.

Since we have the All Atlantic title for men, does that mean we'll soon have an All Pacific title for the women?

This made me look it up. Somehow the last All Pacific champion was Lioness Asuka after winning it on a self produced show and then vacating it. It would be cool to bring her in, but I'm sure that even pushing 60 years old and retired she would never do the job.

I agree with his assessment. That's the way it looked to me too. But I'm also biased because I've noticed how poorly Rosa treats a lot of the enhancement talents too. It's a story of two Rosas. She treats people she sees as on her level one way, and she treats people she perceives as below her another way. At least those are the optics I've picked up on.

My feeling was that their styles didn’t mesh at all and once things got a little awkward Rosa got heated and said “fuck it, if you can’t give me anything to work with I’m just not going to try”

It's Erick Stevens, former Wrestling Observer Newsletter Rookie of the Year 2007

And former DVDVR poster, which to some means you're a wrestling genius.

Which is painting with a broad brush, because think of who else used to post here. Yeesh.

@NikoBaltimorei took the weekend off from posting. I get irritated sometimes and the best way for me to alleviate that is to spend some time away. I literally touched grass.

I don’t think you’re wrong about my disdain for KOR being at least somewhat due to his career long association with nimrods and workrate dorks. I remember several iterations of this board ago when a promo he cut with davey Richards and “wish.com Fit Finlay” Tony Kozina where they yelled the word “respect” about 40 times was in the “how not to cut a fucking promo” thread. It was cringe before cringe was a thing. I’ve also just never had much of a taste for pwg, superindy style work. My personal belief is that workrate should be about the last criteria considered when deciding what makes a great match. I will say that my problem with kor is much more along the lines of “why would they push him when there’s 20 guys on aew’s roster more charismatic, interesting, and with better promo ability” than it is “this fucking oxygen thief and his bullshit in ring style” like it is with most of his associates.

Ive liked some matches kor has been in. The first two war games, the 8 man against imperium, and that last one he had with adam Cole were all really fun. I’m just of the opinion that guys like Ricky Starks, Swerve Strickland, and Jungle Boy can all give you just as good an in ring performance while being far more engaging promos.

Didn't he also lose a match to Lance Archer?

To be clear I'm not saying Lee should do this to Swerve. I'm saying he should take out his frustrations on Cole.

Man, the first time I saw this, with Keith going all “yeetus deletus” on adam Cole, my heart grew three sizes like the grinch on Christmas morning. Thanks for that….

I'm a fan of O'Riley who hated him in ROH. He put it together in NXT and became one of my favs. The only thing I think he sucks at are strike exchanges. You know, The bullshit spots where two guys just take turns hitting each other in the ring or on the apron like a bad Popeye cartoon from the early 60's.
His forearms there look soft which just adds to how dumb and contrived the spot is.
Besides that, and the dumb rebound lariat, KOR is great AFAIK.

@just drew: Did you see Finn Balor vs. Kyle O'Reilly at NXT TakeOver 31? That was one of the best NXT matches in years and needs talking up more. I like Kyle, the only one of the Undisputed Trio I can say that about.
