I really liked this show. The only thing that bothered me, and I will concede that this is a matter of personal taste, is having to miss out on HOB's entrance just so there would be time for the Jacksons and the Alleged Elite to remind us how much more important they are than anything else happening on the show.

Whereas I was glad to miss out on that corny ass dark magick shit AND the dying Dark Order entrance. But I also could have done without the UE part, just have Bucks challenge Hardys in a 30 second segment.

Really good night. Skipping the entrances made the opening match a lot better for me. I’ve been speculating on them ending the Dark Order, and having a hoss tag team plus John Silver as their trio works. House of Black are great wrestlers when they’re not all about their gimmick.

FFWD through Spears. No idea who Big Damo is but as a giant he was shorter than Spears.

As others have said, Velvet-Stat was a surprisingly excellent match and their recent changes have improved both women. Maybe not as stiff striking as the other recent matches but Stat’s power moves make up for it. Ruby on commentary worked since they realized they just needed to cut to her over the top facial reactions, she didn’t add much verbiage-wise.

Main event started pretty one-sided but then Dante Martin showed his fighting spirit! It was smart to not have a prolonged striking segment with Dante since that’s not his forte. His no-hands over the top rope plancha was wow, as they said Jordan ‘88 hang time.

Backstage segments were mostly good, I already agreed with a just drew that we didn’t need yet another Cole-UE segment, just a short Bucks challenging Hardys would work. The training montage segment was gold, only wish that they had Danhausen hanging upside down from the pull-up bar like a bat. The AssClaimed works great and they can let Bowens heal while building to a feud over PaPa’s affection.

I can't help but think there is some real unrealistic views of Hook's place in the pecking order going on in this thread lol. There is something real and tangible with him, he is over and has a major value to the future. But he isn't even at the "pillar" level yet. Like he's clearly behind MJF, Jungleboy, Darby & Sammy in the pecking order. Being mad that he is with Danhausen and that it is ruining his aura is a bit of an overreach.

Danhausen is very over. Hook is very over. Them together squashing low card dudes is going to be over. Hook isn't doing comedy spots. He's not doing the row boat spot or biting people's asses like Dink. He's still Hook doing Hook shit. He just has Danhausen standing there in the background now. To me (on a smaller level) they have that Rock & Sock thing going on. Two over acts on their own, that just have a fun chemistry together. Maybe a better analogy is Team Hell No.

But by no means is this ruining Hook. Its giving him some meaningful stories to get his feet wet and learn and grow, without putting all of the weight on his shoulders. He just has to show up and keep wrecking dudes. Danhausen can carry the verbal stuff and Sterling / Neese are never going to be cool heels that get cheered over anyone. So this is good for his development. Outside of going full Goldberg with him, this is the best possible scenario to groom him for the future. And you can't go full Goldberg with him because of his look. You think we hear a lot of whining about Cole & The Bucks being tiny... imagine if Hook is out there no selling for Wardlow.

This is good for Hook.

If they keep him with Danhausen, the Danhausen fans will love it.

If they separate him and have him just be aloof and a machine? The Danhausen fans will still love it.

I've got no problem letting it play out.

Sadly, depending on your perspective, seems like the Dark Order as job boys is set in stone. Lost a member as Tony didn't want to pay Stu and haven't had a feud or tv win in forever. Feels like Silver still could be elevated if they wanted to, he's not a lost cause, but it's pretty sad to see how over he was last summer compared to now. They clearly are grooming 10 for a push after breaking away. Dark Order likely doesn't have a much longer shelf life.

I wonder if we’ll see more of them with Hangman after his Punk feud. They’re a heartwarming cute group and I enjoy seeing them on tv. Evil Uno getting beat up from a bully can get sympathy and the Beaver Buddies are fun. I like Anna.

I could see anything happening with them. It’s an interesting time in the company.

I’m pro Hook and think he has a great aura. I like the current direction of his character. Have him stoically protect the nerdy silly demon. If Danhausen is the clear weaker of the two, then any success they have is entirely on the badassery of the almighty Hook. Maybe this leads to a split from his dad and we get Hookhausen vs Starks and Hobbs. Work him up the card and introduce him to more back and forth matches. Hook as the offense and presence down. Get him much more experience. So when he steps to the Omega-types eventually it will feel huge and potentially lead to a great moment. Maybe he is ready now, but if he is put in a position and matches he isn’t ready for it would kill his character and momentum.

I didn't say anything about him in relation to anybody like that. That's a strawman if you're arguing my point. Why is the Coldhearted Handsome Devil© working out with some nerd in face paint and a cape? He gave him chips? ? Why can't he just be cool and break people's necks instead of protecting the shittiest character in the company? I don't care that Danhausen is over (and how long with that last?). What happened with HOOK and Team Taz? He doesn't have to be Goldberg nor does he need to be a pillar. He's HOOK. They've gone too quickly into the babyface stuff with him. It took Austin and Rock years to soften their characters to even tolerate Mankind, and Danhausen is no Mankind. This just feels cheap to me and I love HOOK and deplore Danhausen. HOOK should be a good two years away from doing anything with anybody like Wardlow or any other main event calibre wrestler. I've argued against people talking up the TNT title for HOOK and that it was ridiculous to expect a guy with a handful of matches to fill that role so early. He needs to be handled with care and caution but this isn't what I had in mind and really hope it's short-term.

What happened with Hook and Team Taz is that Team Taz are heels and NO ONE wants to boo Hook.

Hook gets to still be Hook. He also gets to stick up for someone who's getting pushed around by a dude who names one side of his abs Paul Roma and the other Tom Zenk. The fans are also getting what they want. It's a program that is proving to be pretty entertaining while giving Hook an opportunity to learn without thrusting him into a position he's not ready for.

And it isn't like Hook isn't still Team Taz, he's Mr Maniac's Baby Boy

I'll never get tired of Jade berating Tony backstage. Good job on not having Tony get berated backstage twice with the Britt/Toni segment.

Hook doing goofy shit with Danhausen is fine IMO lots of time to figure out stuff with him and add some depth to his character.

Did they drop the Statlander is an alien stuff? She was announced from Long Island on the show.

Main event was dope. Martin flies around so smoothly.

Yeah they did a soft reboot of her character without explanation around the time of the Leyla feud.

They did a video package with her talking about how Leyla turning on her had made her get darker on Dynamite during the feud, so there was some explanation.

Maybe if Mankind gave Rock and Austin chips sooner they’d be friends earlier.

Honestly I can't argue much of what you wrote here. I don't dislike Danhausen as much as you do tho. I like him a lot actually. I get what you're saying about why is he working out with Danhausen. But I just interpret that differently. In that vignette Hook is working out. He's going workout regardless because that's what Hook does. Danhausen admires him and tagged along and couldn't keep up. It's not like Hook was helping him Hogan & Mean Gene style in tiny shorts lol.

I guess I just interpret it that he's not Danhausen's friend so much as he's just doing his thing and Danhausen is following him around and idolizing him because the curse didn't work on him. To me Hook isn't a babyface. He's just Hook. And he happens to be teaming with a face and fighting heels. But he still comes out of the heel tunnel. He hasn't changed any of his behavior. He didn't accept the gift of chips. He walked out on that. He's just a tweener doing his thing with a tag along.

Jade Cargill is a fucking STAR. I'd love to see an extended program between her and Statlander. #ladyhosswar

Max Caster being Billy's favorite son is gonna be such a great little layer to that stable.

BCC are #1 & the best. Please give them Serena Deeb so that Regal can speak for her and also comment on women's matches in general. It'd go a long way to helping the division.

I didn't even think of that layer of Deeb joining, that Regal would commentate during those matches as well. That would be a real nice fringe benefit of the pairing.

I'm surprised we haven't gotten more Mark Sterling on commentary during Jade/Nese matches with that being pointed out.

Maybe it sucks that somebody's favorite isn't being booked right, but the general audience seems stoked so maybe folks should just appreciate that? They're popping crowds, selling merch, thriving - enjoy that for your favorites ?

I liked going to Ask Jeeves because it made me feel sophisticated in Middle School.

Anybody else write shortform prose @ Jeeves back in the day?

My Most Cherished Jeeves,

How does the London fog find you on this dingy morn? Although I would dare not avow it to her, my missus did bring me a box of the same candy-lacquered hazelnuts you and I so often shared during those restless nights between holidays at the Queenswoode School. She was not the least bit mindful of the memories that their sweet scent stirred in me; memories that colored the edges of this otherwise drab day. But I digress as I so famously do - I write to you with an inquiry most serious. For you see, my meddlesome older brother is proving to be a rather insurmountable foe when we participate in our nightly contest of Street Fighter Alpha 2 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. If only I could decipher the combination of button-presses needed to utilize Chun-Li's fantastic Blue Fire-Ball! You have always been a wellspring of such knowledge, dearest Jeeves, and I pray that you might parch this particular thirst as you have so many of my others. And if you perchance know of any drawings of fair Chun-Li with nary a stocking upon her, I earnestly inquire for the prints you may own to be enclosed with your reply.
