Imagine having an undisputed champion and then not having them defend the title at your PPVs...

"the guy we've spent the last several years telling you, our fans, is the only guy that really matters will not be on the card. Buy it anyway?"

It's not like they haven't set a precedent with Brock for the last few years.

But people aren’t buying individual shows in 2022. It’s more like “please watch on peacock while the show is live.”

The Brock situation was a little different though because we always had a 'world' title on the show. This show might not have either of the undisputed titles (Men's singles or Men's Tag) being defended.

Even if it was a 'throw away' match against Orton (because Riddle is recovering from the Uso's attack) it would make some kayfabe sense and they can still run Cody v Seth in the main event.

To be honest more events could do from having the alternative titles headline. Raises the stakes when the Heavyweight title is actually defended, and build more legitimacy around the secondary-star players on the upward trajectory. Make the secondary titles more important in their own right (just as in UFC/Boxing headline shows aren't associated with the Heavyweight-title only).

Post WM 38, these smaller PLE's are basically just good matches with no commercials and not much big stakes. They may make the top title only defended on the bigger PLE's from now on.

Money in the bank has been further upgraded into being one of the bigger PLE's. Even upgraded to Stadium show this year.

The Saudi shows are now just special locations shows but with less matches than previous Saudi Shows.

Maybe.

But the titles in UFC can vary in interest/importance based on the star power in each division.

It'd be a pretty shit thing for WWE to try and say that the IC/US titles are somehow worthy of headlining a PPV after not being defended on these shows for months at a time.

The IC and US titles should be the ones defended one TV more often.

World Champ should defend at every PPV.

Spoiler

Torn a pec weight-training apparently

(Edit: all things considered, I probably wouldn't generally recommend professional wrestlers bench press much because their body gets enough wear and tear as it is. Whilst he's no doubt stronger than me, he's not using an arch and he's not controlling the eccentric - these are two things that increase the risk of tears. https://startingstrength.com/article/how-not-to-tear-a-pec-while-bench-pressing.
