Rotunda was never good. I watched that Varsity Club stuff a few years ago for the first time since childhood, and he wasn't any good then either. He was the far-lesser tag partner of both Barry Windham (which, okay, Windham is pretty great) and Ted DiBiase (not so okay since DiBiase is another guy who I think sort of isn't that good, which probably is controversial).

My issue with Rotunda isn't even that he's bad,  it's that pretty much everything about him is actively uninteresting. He doesn't do anything in any match that feels like he is trying to entertain the crowd. He's basically a walking rest hold. The most interesting thing he did is an abdominal stretch while having the ropes. He's not the worst wrestler I've ever seen,  but he's quite possibly the one I want to watch the least. At least being bad can be funny or cringey, Rotunda is just dull.

Since you brought up Wallstreet,  I have a question for the board.  Who is the wrestler you've watched the most, but enjoyed the least?

Bully Ray Dudley, and Ken 'Kennedy' Anderson. Both of them spent the majority of their careers in the "Greatest Hits" mode, where they have the same match every night. And in both cases, the one match they had every time, it wasn't actually a good match. Also Bubba is a specialist in having terrible Wrestling opinions, and is headlining a Feinstein show soon. So, all around rubbish.

Ted DiBiase was maybe the best wrestler in the world in 1985.

He just did nothing for me in the mid-80s, including the stuff I saw from him in 1985. Different tastes and all that.

@HarryArchieGusI mean, I love the Varsity Club, too, but that's largely because of Rick Steiner and then somewhat because of Kevin Sullivan. Rotundo has zero bearing on my enjoyment there. And of course, I allowed for Windham being awesome.

Though my other hot take re: Windham is that he was awesomest after turning heel on Luger and walking around wearing a black glove and putting the claw on people. Maybe it's a hot take? Most people prefer the face Windham run right before then, correct?

C'mon, who wouldn't be the lesser in a team with Barry Windham?

Rethorical, I know, but Dustin in '92 had to be roughly an equal at the time, since Barry was a year or so past his sharpest peak, right?

I love the Varsity Club.  I was even ready for one last run when Russo brought them back in 99.  I was also very fond of the Windham-Rotunda team.  C'mon, who wouldn't be the lesser in a team with Barry Windham?

I still think the 99 Varsity Club return could have been kinda awesome if they came in as past-their-prime jocks still trying to relive their glory days.

DiBiase would be on my list if he wasn't such a fun character. I never saw his Mid-South run,  but he's pretty uninteresting in the ring during his WWF run.

I have never understood how Ken Anderson ever got on television. I couldn't point at a single thing he's good at.

He had ruined his back by the time he got to the WWF.

The best thing about Ted DiBiase in the WWF was using him and Mr. Perfect as a team in WWF WrestleFest. Aside from that, you've got his theme song, the 1988 run, some okay midcard feuds, and the parade of walkout countout losses from the Money Inc. days.

That early nWo run is really great though. Dude was super motivated before the freak injury.

I'm not sure he was ever all that good in the ring, the Blockbuster requires more cooperation and set-up than many of today's most convoluted finishers. But yeah, he was a superb prick in that tag team with Norton in those early NWO days.

It should have been convoluted, but I don't remember it not looking impressive.  Tho, there's maybe a gif or a clip to prove me wrong.

It can’t be good when you see Dave is trending on Twitter.

seems to be related to the Regal story.

I posted on the last page a tweet from Regal debunking the health issues talk.

Wait, the best thing?  It might be worth checking out that early promo reel to be sure on that.  I can't get down with all this anti-Million Dollar Man talk.  Tho, I can agree with all the anti-Money Inc talk.

I said what I said.

(I guess you can include the early promos in with the 1988 run, but I didn't enjoy them, personally.)

ThHart/Dibiase MSG match was fantastic. Ted was also  great in the Savage feud. His babyface run in Mid-South/UWF was stellar and he got great stuff from Duggan and JYD as a heel.

The mini Hart/Dibiase match at the end of the Survivor Series match where Taker debuted is also pretty awesome.

HHH was legitimately great at and before WM30 IMO. He had the world convinced he was going to cost Bryan the title in the main event, and that’s after having that banger of an opener.

‘That said there is no forgiveness for 2001-2012 or whatever

Im surprised no one has said Jeff Jarrett. A cliche pick, but aside from the MMA bits and that bad ass TV defense against Lethal I got nothin

I have never enjoyed anything the man has ever done save the MMA Kids Trainer clip and the handful of Memphis brawls (the one with the Moondogs might be better than the Concession Stand).

Oh wow, I guess Pete Dunne is in for a big push. They just gave him Paul Newman's old gimmick.

Well given what his partner just did on the same show, let's wait on that.  Reckless green fuck
