They had plans for Elias, too, but it appears he died on the way back to his home planet.

Sad. How do they fuck up an Elias? He must be a real weirdo backstage or something...there must be reason to this madness...

If you're to believe Meltzer, Title vs. Title at WrestleMania 38 was not the original plan. It was borne out of the apparent course correction caused by Day 1. Not sure if that's the case.

Considering the million other times they've run Reigns vs. Lesnar into the ground, the match needed something to add some actual heat and intrigue to it. I'm not saying this is ideal, but considering the main event scene is a barren wasteland, and no one is getting over other than Roman and Brock, you might as well do this. Plus having two world champions is a stupid idea in the first place.

I don't have a problem with Roman vs Brock at all because it's fresh because the reverse of the heel/face roles, I still don't see why they insist on Title for Title though. I don't think having both guys as the top men's Champ going in makes this more of a spectacle. They would have been better of keeping it on E or Lashley and allowing them to be strong as the top guy on RAW. Lashley atleast was allowed to be seen as the dominant Champ even though most of us knew he was just a transition for Brock. Big E wasn't booked at all to come across as someone important other than his actual title win which is unfortunate.

Didn't watch the show even though it was a decent time for those in the UK/Europeans for once. Just read the Elimination Chamber match times for the first time and can't believe how short those went, 15:45 for the Women and 14:55 for the Men going by cagematch. The two quickest EC matches in history. Usually EC go 30 minutes or over, some 20-25.

I wouldn't be shocked if WWE holds a premium event titled "house money"  how many times did the commentators say "he's playing with house money"  or "she's playing with house money"  Christ  even the commentary is stale.

Brock coming in and dominating every match he is in is just poor booking. If you can come in and dominate each and every member of the roster does it really make you good? Big fish in a pond full of minnows.   Did anyone in the world think Theory had a shot to win? Why not make AJ or Riddle the final guy? Give some chance that an upset could possibly happen.  At this point why would anyone want to work WWE? It's the Brock and Roman show for the men and the Charlotte-Becky show for the girls.

Don't even get me started on Bianca.  Is Liv going to be the Charley Brown of the WWE? Will she ever win the big match?  Why bring Alexa back only to job in her first match on return?  Charlotte was the one who she had storyline heat with  why not have her first match be with her?

Hulk Hogan himself wasn't even booked as dominant as Brock.  Hell with Hogan at least you thought he had a shot of losing.

I don't want to make this AEW vs WWE but AEW would never put out a shit show like this.  Lashley is legit hurt. They knew this going in. Why not bring in a replacement once he was taken out? An element of surprise for the fans.  Mansoor would have gotten a huge pop.  How about Veer? Amos  or Orton even.    This is just lazy, lazy booking.

It might have been mentioned elsewhere already but since it is directly related to this show

Apparently the reason for the angle with Lashley is that Lashley suffered a shoulder injury and is having the dreaded visit with Dr. James Andrews this week. (Reports are that he injured the shoulder at Royal Rumble)

Hogan didn't eliminate 15+ people in a rumble.  He took a few pinfalls but for the most part wasn't considered a part timer either.

You can't fault Brock. Anyone would take that deal. All that money for such little work. And he seems to be having fun now too.

Vince has his favorites and he rams them down our throats for years at a  time.  Say what you want about HBK and his attitude but he really only had 2 years at the top in the mid 90's.   Bret had about 4-5 years at the top in WWF.  Diesel/Nash  2 or so.

Roman has had roughly 7 yrs, Brock has had 6 or so recently

Hogan had the 85-88 run,  and then  the 89-92 era.   Even when Warrior was champ Hogan was getting top billing minus Summer Slam 90.  It's a pattern for the most part. But with Hogan you had other stars being elevated and made.  You had your Savages, Dibiases, Rude's, Perfect, Bossman, Jake, Model, you had a hell of a tag team division.

At some point Vince said 'fuck tag teams"  "fuck making new stars"  and that is where we are today.

Probably from the way Bobby Lashley landed on his shoulder during the tedious Suplex City shit at the Royal Rumble. Shame he's injured as he's one of the few WWE bright spots.

Roman has held the belt for close to 600 days.  All to put over.... Lesnar?   No way...   Please no lol

Roman winning and Cody get an over the top, tone-deaf, patriotic Lex Express style push towards Summerslam is what we all want right?

Very true. As much as people bitched about the Hulk-up, at least you were allowed to get heat on Hogan. He even used to lose house show matches by DQ sometimes to keep a program interesting.

Now Brock wasn't always booked like this. Even at the beginning of his comeback. It was that damn SummerSlam match that birthed "Suplex City" where he squashed Cena. The fans went crazy because it was something new at the time, and they were tired of "LOL Cena wins". And Vince basically said right then and there, "This is how we book a standard Lesnar match from now on."

Hogan was also booked that way in WWF for maybe .. 10 years tops? Brock is going on 20 years now with this presentation. Its certainly .. something.

It's really only about 6 in his current form (which is still way too long). In Brock's first run, he was presented as a monster, but still occasionally vulnerable. It's why his matches with Benoit, Rey, and Eddie all worked. His insecure heel run in 2003-04 was the best stretch of his career. Most importantly, back then he actually wrestled instead of just doing the same 3 spots every match. His second run, he was much more protected, but still worked a unique enough style and showed enough vulnerability to top guys that he was a bright spot through the first Roman match. Since the Taker program, though, yeah... Nothing inspiring or must-see about him and nobody has come out of a feud looking better, even if they got a win over him. The only interesting moment was him losing to Goldberg in under 2 minutes, and well, that only put over Goldberg in like 2017 or 18 (?) so that wasn't terribly useful.

I have to push back slightly on the Brock and Hogan comparison.

Hogan would take some Beatdowns for sure and there were a few instances of controversy surrounding his title reigns but he also gave us a ton of bullshit. Completely no selling a dude's finisher and going straight into the Hulk Up. Etc.

Brock doesn't typically no sell, he's a fantastic bumper actually.

Also, Brock has taken several clean pin falls for whoever the flavor of the month was. He took a clean pin to old ass Goldberg 5 years ago. He took a clean pin to Seth Freakin Rollins at the WM I was at WM35 in New York..

The problem is Goldberg is old, there was nowhere to go with the story.

The problem is Seth Rollins for as popular as he's become is still in many ways a cut below a true main eventer despite the constant push.

The thing about Hogan was he was smart to the business. Say what you want about the guy but he knew how to make money. If he lost a house show match by DQ or countout he knew that meant more heat for the return to that town.  He knew people would pay to see him get the pin on Dibiase, Savage, Slaughter, etc.   It worked.

Vince had the Network pre covid. He could have aired house shows on there so that everyone could watch. Build new stars/try new things.  They failed at doing the simplest of things.
