He is in Pittsburgh at the David L Lawrence for the World of Wheels Convention.  I expected to pay $50 like when Sting was here last year but it was all free and he couldn't have been nicer. He spent time talking with everyone for as long as they wanted.  Not a huge line to meet him either. Only thing was they asked not to bring personal items as they gave out free 8x10's and took 2 pics with your camera phone.

Vince: That biker Cher had chemistry with... he's got some real presence. Think we can get him in the ring?
Some Yes Man: Do...do you mean... Sam Elliot?
Vince: Christ what terrible name. Get him i nthe system and we'll call him Brick Porterhouse!

Elliott Samson was right there!

He'd have Peter Falk narrate old episodes of RAW to a bedridden Dominik.

Grandpa: It was ten days to the wedding. Vince still lived, but Stephanie's nightmares were growing steadily worse.

Dominik: See, didn't I tell you she'd never marry that rotten The Undertaker?

Grandpa: Yes, you're very smart. Shut up.

Seeing these pics of presumably atrocious WWE skits made the Riddle "baby Broda" abomination pop into my head and now I hate you all.

Since we don't have a "old school questions" thread anymore...

This sounds like an intriguing idea. Thoughts?

Just had the absolute pleasure of meeting Bryan Danielson.  I asked him about NJPW and he told me he was supposed to already be there but due to Covid and a 2 week quarantine he just can't do it right now.  Hoping things are better by the G1 as he really wants to be in this year.  Couldn't have been a nicer guy.  One of the rare ones who didn't charge for autographs or pics.

Nice one. LOVE, LOVE Bryan Danielson. Great to hear Bryan's as likeable as he comes across. It's impressive he plays such a great heel. Dickhead Danielson is my favourite incarnation.

He took time to talk with everyone for as long as they wanted. He has some sort of injury right now keeping him from wrestling. He told the guy ahead of me something along the lines of "and if it gets in my blood well..."  He also mentioned he would be looking to get cleared to have a match either for Dynamite or Rampage but they can't announce anything in case he doesn't get the green light.  He did say obiviously he will be in Cleveland this week even if it's just for a promo.

Super, Super, nice guy and I look forward to seeing what he does this week.

Following on from Barry Von Erich, it feels like there’s not enough “fake” wrestling siblings these days.

Come on modern day wrestlers/promoters, gimme a Canadian Dragon Steve Danielson, Drey Wyatt or a Jimmy “freakin’” Rollins.  It felt like every indy had at least one back in the day.

Have you not heard of Donnie Janela?

(GCW ran a show in Tullahoma TN, booked a bunch of local Tennessee wrestlers to fill out the card, and they noticed that one of them looked just like Joey Janela. So Joey "researched his family tree" and found out they were actually cousins! So Donnie took the Janela name because of course he did. He also goes by Kung Fu Janela, or Donnie Primetime in his AEW Dark bookings)

If there was one thing I'd dial back for the Royal Rumble (and maybe for other PPVs/PLEs), the announcers don't need to 'know' everything in such an unnatural way

I know some of the people putting together WWE TV don't watch live sports, but there are ways to balance sharing information without making your announcers seem like they know way more than they should.

The last few years before I stopped watching, Michael Cole's shitty "OH MY GOD, ITS _____" ruined the Rumble for me, which sucks because it's always been my favorite PPV since I was a kid.

You know, he's lost his hearing, maybe he's lost his mind too and he's legit in shock.
