Loved the Street Fight with the Gotch PileDriver getting a loud pop from me.

Also really liked Bowens Irish wiping the shit out of Darby from inside the ring whilst Darby was standing on the apron outside, I don’t remember ever seeing that before.

On the one hand, at least 3 people do the Gotch Piledriver (Tay, Danielson, and it's one of Garcia's finishers on the indies at least). On the other hand, I kind of like it as a super move that everyone in the promotion can potentially do, like how literally any match in 89 AJPW could end in a power bomb. The Tiger Driver 98 should also be in that category.

Mox does it from time to time too

The women’s street fight was crazy and should have probably closed the show. Didn’t seem like crowd ever really recovered for the main event which was a fine match.

Not sure where they’re going with Andrade, the Acclaimed and Sting and Darby. It’ll be interesting to find out though I guess.

I loved the Street FIght. A couple things that may not have been mentioned much.

A lot of "Street Fights" have obvious rest spots where two are in the ring fighting, and two are down (in or out of the ring) recovering. The wide shot that showed the ground and pound on the outside made it 100% better, like this was a real fight.

Honestly, I think they should make matches like this a stipulation. If it was Hangman Page, I'd call it the Last-Chance Saloon. Make it clear that after this match, there will be no more matches between the two/four of them for at least 60 days. Always announce it a couple weeks beforehand, so both teams/wrestlers can get over how much they hate their opponent(s) and how  important winning this LAST MATCH is. Make it clear that they're not just fighting again and again and.. well you know. This could have used a couple weeks to build (and be put in the main event)

Absolutely amazing street fight. Did not expect that level of violence at all/hadn't realized this feud had quite reached that point, but I loved it. So many excellent visuals, especially from the Bunny. Awesome spots all throughout. I loved the broken bottle blast, looked properly brutal. Best performances from all four. Great finish. Last second MOTYC.  All three  matches were good making for one of the best episodes of Rampage.

Just wait until it becomes a Canadian Gotch Destroyer.

Had no Idea Jimmy Buffett concerts where that wild.

that was one hell of a settle down street fight, appreciated all the women wearing jeans.

I want to see Bowens actually win a match on television.

What level of chess are we on with Cody with that shirt?

It’s a different guy. Jimmy Buf-Fay. He’s this dude who does shitty early 80’s Billy Joel covers at this rathole bar I go to…

It was a fun plunder match but a total spotfest moving from set piece to set piece. Well laid out and well executed but I don't think it was exceptional and there wasn't too much between the spots aside from some good Bunny mugging. Definitely the best match of all four women involved to date.

Line of the night goes to Starks. "Oh a helping hand... Who the hell is this? Don't know 'em, don't care. Keep it movin', baby!"

The Bunny is the best thing about the women’s division. She been carrying these green faces for months. Give that psycho some wins!

I really love how the mid card talent is presented in AEW. You lose nothing by going toe to toe with someone higher up the card, because there is a clear hierarchy. Bowens has looked great in his singles matches with Darby and Danielson.

They way they operate also leads to a certain tension when two wrestlers perceived to be at the same level have a match. I’m thinking MJF/Darby.

I like all the "thumbtacks can't be a finish" talk. It made me think of IWA KOTDM and how much I love the  Nakamaki vs. Ono match. That has a thumbtack finish.

I'm not sure about everyone else's pro wrestling brain, but mine sure as fuck bought a powerbomb and full-nelson facebuster into tacks as worthy of a three count.

If I saw that same sequence today for a finish, I wouldn't bat an eye.

The winner claims The Last Word in the ongoing dispute; they've "won the feud", the issue is settled in the eyes of the AEW committee (which will no longer sanction future bouts between the two), and the loser cannot challenge the winner again [for a year, etc.]

this leaves the door open for championship challenges that automatically trigger off of winning a Casino Battle Royale, etc.

and of course at some point in the future, much like a champion might be so vexed as to challenge a specific contender, the winner might want another piece of the old rival for a new reason in the future.  But the loser can't keep demanding rematches. It's over for as long as the winner wants it to be.  Kayfabe that there's a restraining order type thing in play, or whatever.  But the winner has the privilege of getting to Move On without worry that the loser is gonna keep interfering in future title bouts or continuing the feud by any such means.

I feel like the logical next step for Cody is to solemnly announce he feels he has to renege on his promise and challenge for the world title as a result of overwhelming fan demand

Agonising over the decision for a 20 minute Dynamite segment every week as he provides updates on this unprecedented groundswell of grassroots support; his voice cracking as he reads out a (very real) letter from little terminally ill Timmy in Boise begging the Codester for just one favour: to win the big one, for him, before the lights go out on his tragically short life

Not a dry eye in the house I'd bet

I just finished watching this episode, and that women's street fight was fucking incredible.  I'm pretty sure Cody vs. Ethan Page was good, but I did not give a fuck about anything they did after watching that tag match.  When I first started watching AEW, the women were the weakest part of the show, but that has changed.  The Bunny and Penelope Ford are getting to the point where I think they could anchor a women's tag division.  They have improved by leaps and bounds in the ring, but are even better working their characters.  The Bunny is just all manic, crazy, psychotic energy and almost seemed to be delighted by the blood dripping off of her face.  Tay Conti is on a completely different level than she was in NXT, and is a future champion.  Anna Jay, who I've been picking on a little bit in the other thread, has taken advantage of all of the opportunities that she's been given and is the most improved worker on the roster.  She's still a step down from everyone else in this match, but she's grown so much over the last couple months that the ceiling for what I thought she could be has been raised by a lot.  I loved everything about the match and the only complaint is that it didn't go on last.

I don't care that they're just about to crown a new title's first champion, they need women's tag belts now. They're doing a great job of having multiple concurrent feuds in the division but they could get even more women involved with tag teams. It's also a great way for women who are not quite there yet to continue to hone their craft.
