I'm stuck between "oh my god this is horrifying" and "this is the kind of legitimately great journalism and reporting we need so much more of."

In response to both... Fuck Joe Paterno

Honestly not sure what to expect out of Daniels anymore. Yeah, there were some injuries and Kirby is weird for Stetson Bennett, but it seems not very auspicious that Daniels never could definitively stake claim to QB1 over a walk-on who will be going pro in something other than sports.

Love seeing Miami complain about the NIL process when basically every 2nd tier college school has been getting smacked by it.   When the big boys are getting messed around by it then we will start looking at the problems of how it is basically the wild west

I will say this about the Addison thing: all of the focus has been on the possible NIL enticement, but if you consider the situation, Addison had plenty of reason to shop around otherwise. With a big 2022 season, he’s a potential 1st round pick…but he’ll be starting over with a new QB, new OC, and new WR coach at Pitt this year. It’s very possible he went through spring ball with the new crew and thought “This ain’t it” for his draft prospects.

If you’re gonna start over, might as well start over with a proven stud QB and offensive coaching staff. And if you can get paid well on top of it, sure.

NIL is very revealing in the sense that, like so many other situation, you see free market warriors freaking out when the free market doesn't actually work to their advantage and start screaming for regulations.

Like all the "my apes stolen" NFT chuds who cry for someone to intervene when they're duped into giving someone access to their wallet. Brother, you're the one who wanted no regulation. Blockchain is law and all that, right?

Addison is officially in the portal btw.

Also seems increasingly likely that it was the Pitt side of things that put this business in the streets, which I understand but is also not very fair to Addison and probably didn’t help their chances of keeping him.

Addison is on a surprise official visit to Texas. Reasons he's here:

1. He saw that UT got Quinn Ewers to transfer, one of the highest ranked HS QB recruits of all time.

2. He saw what Coach Sark did with the Alabama offense and receivers, including 4 first round draft picks.

3. His WR coach last year, Brennan Marion, is the UT WR coach now.

4. $$$

5. Gives cover to USC tampering.

Note: these are in reverse order ?

It is looking more and more like the ACC will eliminate divisions and switch to a 3-5-5 schedule model starting the 2023 season

Every team would have 3 schools they play every single year - the rest of the conference games would be 5 teams. Then the next year they would play the other 5 teams.

It appears - while unstated - that the top two teams would then play in the conference championship

Get ready for the next step in Tier 1 college football becoming a paid NFL minor league. NIL, followed by being able to sign/drop as many players a year as you want as long as you have your 85-man roster by the start of the season.

It's almost like they want to build a system that exploits the athletes. I really don't understand why the NCAA still exists,  who does any of this shit help? Why would the power 5 listen to anything they come up with? If they told the NCAA to fuck off,  there's nothing they could do to enforce any of these rules.

It benefits the big movers and shakers in the Power 5 so they won't say anything. NCAA is trying to keep them happy because they see the writing on the wall of their irrelevancy, and fast approaching.

There is no way that the power 5 wouldn't be better just setting themselves up as a "professional" college league. They could sell TV rights for billions and can stop acting like they aren't paying the players.

Oklahoma signed a QB named General Booty.

That's it. That's the post.

He's the nephew of both Josh and John David.
