DK Metcalf apparently tried to get back into the game last night after being ejected.

The league, per Rapaport, will probably fine him for that (no suspension).

in other words, no reason why he, his team, or anyone else for that matter, shouldn't try to do it again.

Maybe.  It's a "your mileage may vary" kind of thing, but unless CTE has caused Mannning to forget everything he knows about playing the position, I probably still want held-together-by-tape-and-twist-ties Peyton to qb my team over Goff and a couple others.

The year they won the Super Bowl, Manning had 9 TDs and 17 INTs and a QB rating of 67.9.  The TD/INT ratio is tied with Bart Starr for the worst of any Super Bowl-winning QB.  And he basically couldn't throw the ball more than 10 yards.

Goff has regressed quite a bit since then but there's no question - and it's not even remotely close - that Goff in 2018 was a better QB than Manning was in 2015.

The Super Bowl they lost to Seattle was pretty much the Seahawks defense looking across the line and daring Manning to try to beat them deep, and he couldn't do it. Every time he tried it was a takeaway. Peyton Manning has a legit case for best quarterback of all time and may be the worst performing quarterback in Super Bowls. He went to 4, and wasn't particularly good in any of them. He won one MVP, but it was basically a lifetime achievement award. They won that game because they played against Rex Grossman and an inept Bears offense, not that Peyton Manning was good. Both Dominic Rides and Joseph Addai played their asses off and were at least as responsible as Manning for that win.

I remember saying on here something to the effect of "if Rhodes and Addai were one RB, they'd have easily been MVP."

There really was nobody in that game that had an MVP performance except Prince.
