Kang
WWE has closed their office in Mexico City, not needed anymore since they want one central office and less worldwide offices. They will still do events in Mexico.

Cobra Commander
Card subject to change alert but here are the two matches mentioned on a radio commercial for the 1/28/22 Smackdown in Kansas City: Drew McIntyre and The New Day vs Roman Reigns and The Usos Charlotte Flair vs Sasha Banks Keeping in mind that the radio ad for the last KC show initially mentioned Braun Strowman after Braun was released (and cut him out of the ad a few weeks later)
Cobra Commander
One extra radio ad note: AEW didn’t run radio ads for their Dynamite shows in the KC area but the WWE consistently airs ads on the alternative station I listen to. You can decide on if radio/TV ads really move too many tickets (not sure how many people are actually listening to radio stations that average a 3 rating) WWE in the Sprint (T-Mobile) Center is also having to fill however much of a 17-19k seat arena that they can. AEW at the Independence Events Center (Cable Dahmer Arena) is having to fill a 5800-7000 seat arena.

I don't know if it's pride, or the dumb size of the dumb stage, but WWE would probably do well to run smaller buildings at least in certain markets. TV-wise I'd rather have a loud sellout of 7000 than the same 7000 people with 10-12,000 empty seats behind the hard cam.

AEW's arena is in a KC suburb that has a minor league hockey team and an indoor soccer team. The same arena that hosted AEW twice also hosted NXT on the night of the 2017 NFL Draft. Not sure if the amount of money lost by the WWE on regular house shows is too much to be made up by running smaller markets/arenas for house shows.

Looking into it last night, the city of Memphis has the 19,000 seat FedExForum and that's literally it. The Mid-South Coliseum is still around surprisingly with no plans of it being torn down IIRC but it doesn't really host events anymore. The Pyramid has been repurposed as a giant store. If you want to run an event in that area and not have a bunch of empty seats, you would need to run the Landers Center in Southaven, MS like AEW did. And as someone from the Delta area that encompasses Memphis, I can tell you the area of Mississippi before you get to Memphis is basically little ass ghost towns, rest stops, and places with casinos you won't like unless you're 60+ years old and/or having a crippling gambling addiction. Memphis isn't a big enough city like a Chicago or Miami like myself and @cwoy2j were discussing some weeks back where the surrounding areas probably can be considered part of the city. You need to be in Memphis to be in Memphis.

Cobra Commander
There was a Cornette rant/monologue from a week or two ago where he was lamenting the decline in smaller buildings and he lives in a market where Bellarmine's college basketball team is playing in Freedom Hall. Bellarmine is a Catholic school newish to D1 with 4000 students playing in an 18,252 seat Freedom Hall. For anybody curious, Bellarmine plays in a larger building than Duke, Kansas, and Memphis. Before Bellarmine, I suspect UNC Greensboro playing at the Greensboro Coliseum was the top example of a lesser known school playing off-campus at a well-known arena. Although UNC Greensboro doesn't try selling all 23,000 seats at the Coliseum for obvious reasons.
odessasteps
Even back in the 80s, I was surprised how big/nice some of the Indiana high school gyms were, compared to what I had grown up with in rural MD.

Although UNC Greensboro doesn't try selling all 23,000 seats at the Coliseum for obvious reasons. Well shit, the actual cities don't want to chip in even for major arenas and stadiums. It's extremely tough to sell the idea of building a realistic and reasonable 4,000-8,500 seat arena when a lot of these cities have theatres and convention centers that have been around that can double as multiple purpose venues. WWF was extremely lucky in that once business went south and their syndication deals started to crumble in 93/94/95, they had basically a network of smaller venues in the Northeast that didn't look all that terrible on TV if you put a decent amount of people in them. You had the Mid-Hudson Civic Center, the Glen Falls Civic Center, Utica Memorial Auditorium, Hersheypark Arena, New Haven Coliseum, Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena, the Cumberland County Civic Center, etc. Now of course, they ran some questionable, ghetto looking places as well (especially during the Action Zone/WWF Mania era) and some high school gyms for TV. However, it still masked how terrible business was going at the time to some degree. Once you've built your reputation around "we run these nearly 20,000 seat arenas and bring our massive sets with us", it's hard to admit that's what you need to go back to. I remember during the STW episode for IYH Beware of Dog (parts 1 & 2), Prichard talking about how the look for the IYH sets was largely based on how they could configure one of those mid sized arenas and actually be able to fit the set in there in the first place (which does explain why some of the sets looked crammed in there or weirdly off center). That's not even something WWE even has to think about anymore.
