I made the most of my snow half-day. Swung by GameStop on the way home from work and finally picked up a PS4. Assassin's Creed 4 should keep me busy until the big next-gen titles start dropping in March.

So Microsoft just announced a new XBone without Kinnect that will sell for $399.

Everybody point and laugh.

Which is funny because a little over a month ago you could have bought the Titanfall bundle with the Kinect for $450, and it would have been a better deal.

Are they getting destroyed in the console sales market?

I want to say I live in a more than normal gamer heavy market, and I can occasionally walk in a store and find an Xbox One for sale. Not so much with a PS4.

They've fallen behind quite a bit in console sales for sure.

Also I thought the titanfall bundle was the same price as the normal ($499)

When Titanfall released or shortly thereafter, they ran a sale for a couple of weeks at $450.

Let's put it this way: you know the Wii U, that's totally flopped and be a massive disaster, or so we've been told?

The Xbox One has sold 25% fewer consoles than THAT.

PS4: 7.5 million

Wii U: 6.1 million

Xbone: 4.5 million

Yeah, that's a ridiculous statement to make. X-Box One is clearly behind PS4, but it's certainly no flop.

5 Million in less than a year is pretty great. Especially at $500 a pop.

I'm not sure how reliable VGCHARTZ is. I know everyone uses that site but where are they getting their information? The site doesn't scream "professional" to me.

For the record, I don't doubt PS4 is crushing it... that's obvious.

I'm looking for numbers on how PS3 and 360 sold in the first year, but it's surprisingly tough to find. The best numbers I can see so far are here: www.xbitlabs.com/news/multimedia/display/20071123192932_Sony_Celebrates_One_Year_PlayStation_3_Birthday_Claims_U_S_Sales_Skyrocket.html

"Despite of Jack Tretton’s optimism, actual statistics is hardly positive for Sony, which still loses money on each PlayStation 3 game machine sold. According to figures by market tracker NPD Group, Microsoft sold through more than two times more Xbox 360 game machines compared to Sony PlayStation 3 in the last twelve months: 4.232 million Vs. 1.978 million, whereas Nintendo Wii was acquired by 5.038 million gamers."

I have not looked at the numbers but from articles and interviews I've read it seems like both systems are doing well.  Obviously PS4 is in a pretty big lead but that doesn't really mean a whole lot this early into it.  What does mean a lot to me is my opinion that playstation plus has surpassed xbox live.  Since Sony has included things that should have been no brainers last gen like cross-game chat, and the quality and quantity of free games with the service it's tough to beat.  But whenever a system is selling well it's typically a forecast of the future in terms of developers and game quality(with the Wii as the exception).  So I think regardless of which system you're speaking of there's going to be a lot to look forward to.  I personally prefer the Sony exclusives from last gen and was not a fan of the tactics used by the xbox team leading up to launch so PS4 was an easy choice for me.

For me, I'm not a big time gamer anymore. I still have a 360 and a PSTriple but rarely play either of them. The games I do play are usually sports/wrestling games, stuff I can pickup and play for a half hour or an hour and I'm done. I really don't have the time or energy to play for 3+ hours of really engrossing games everyday. What's important to me is stuff like community creations for WWE games and the overall better online experience with sports games. For the previous generation, the consensus was to pickup the multiplatform game on the 360 because Xbox Live was better than PSN and had far better community creation stuff for the WWE games. With the PS4 outselling the 360, I wonder if the consensus will change for WWE 2K15 and beyond.

Wouldn't a sign of how things are going be that the sequale to one of Xbox Ones exclusive titles (Titainfall)has already been announced as being cross plateform?

It hasn't.

Considering EA is publishing the next Titanfall you can probably take it to the bank that it won't be Xbox exclusive.  Not to mention that numerous insiders have already leaked the info out although EA wouldn't officially say it yet.

It's also not as big of a deal as it was before it launched anyway as most reviews of the game say it didn't quite live up to the hype.

Wait what? Which reviews were these? Certainly not any I read.

And Bioshock

I had forgotten that Bioshock had a delayed release on PS3.

I agree that Titanfall probably will be on Playstation for the sequel. That is what EA does, afterall. But my point was muhammed said it was already announced and that wasn't true.

The Reviews for the game were top notch, but I would say the excitement/hype for the game quickly fizzled more quickly for a well-reviewed Blockbuster game normally does.

It sounds like after a couple of weeks that people felt the game was insanely limited due to lack of maps/options.

I read a handful of articles/reviews on the game after it was out for a little while because I was looking at getting for PC.  All of the ones I read talked about how it was a good concept and initially a lot of fun but that after a short while they got bored of the game.
