I applaud Ole for trying something different today.

Sadly that something different was running that lineup as a 3-5-2.  Ole's regressed to playing a live action FM save.

The scoreline would've been 8-0 if De Gea wasn't playing out of his mind.

The grim statistics are piling up like rubble around the feet of Solskjaer, adding to the pressure he is now under.

United are now without a clean sheet in their past 14 home games in all competitions. The only longer run in their history came in a 21-game run between April 1958 and March 1959. They have lost eight home games in all competitions in 2021, their most in a calendar year since losing eight in 1989.

It was also the first time United have lost consecutive home league games without scoring since March 2014. The opponents? Liverpool and Manchester City. The manager? David Moyes. We know how that ended.

Manchester United had just four touches in the opposition box in this match, their fewest in a Premier League match since 2008-09 - when Opta began recording data - and the fewest by a home team since Fulham's three against Arsenal in September 2020.

Damning stuff but evidence that this Manchester United team is currently going nowhere under Solskjaer, although some very experienced players are doing their manager no favours whatsoever when he needs them most.

Those of us who have witnessed United's defeats at Leicester City and at home to Liverpool and Manchester City in recent weeks have been subjected to a style and results that are quite simply unsustainable for a club of this stature.

Something simply has to change. The biggest question is whether Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be the manager given the chance to do it?

Looking forward to Chris Wilder's first act as Middlesbrough boss - convincing their chairman to spend eleventy jillion pounds on some kid with arthritic knees who scored four goals in the Bosnian third division last season.

Oh and Rhian Brewster finally scored his first league goal since the Bronze Age.

What a job David Moyes is doing with the Hammers.

3-2 FT. 25 game unbeaten run stretching back to April is over.

Germany put nine past Liechtenstein. I wonder if UEFA will go for something like a pre-qualifying tournament with the eight lowest ranked countries.

On the one hand minnows can improve or have golden periods (plus a giant killing can always happen), but going off current form the likes of San Marino, Liechtenstein, Andorra, Gibraltar, Malta, Faroe Islands, Kosovo should be battling it out to get to the main qualifying rounds.

Luxembourg belong on that list historically but seem to be having a decent campaign otherwise I would have lumped them in too.

Next week, we should learn the fate of the EPL TV rights from 23-28, as a second round of bids has been requested. Apparently the main bidding sets are NBC, Fox, (Joint CBS-ESPN) and AMazon(

I'm betting on a split package between Disney and Comcast.

I don't think they will want to lose Concast, since they own Sky Sports now.

Probably not, from a story today

Some changes for the second round of bidding.

6 or 9 year deals
No half option. All or nothing.
No new partnerships.

"The first change to the bidding process starts with the length of the deal. The Premier League is telling U.S. media companies to bid on a six-year deal. During the first round of bids submitted earlier this week, the Premier League asked for bids on both six- and nine-year deals (though the league has always expected its new deal to be six years). The second change shortened the types of deals that the league will accept. Now, companies must either bid for all league rights exclusively by themselves or as part of a partnership that already has been approved by the league. Back in October, the Premier League told CBS and ESPN that they could bid together."

Derby docked another 9 points.

The EFL has today confirmed that Derby County Football Club has received a nine-point sporting sanction with a further three points suspended after admitting to breaches of the League’s Profitability and Sustainability (P&S) rules.

This matter has been determined under the terms of an ‘Agreed Decision’ reached between the League and the Club and was formally ratified by an Independent Disciplinary Commission Chair as per the requirements of EFL Regulations.

The ‘Agreed Decision’ is available here [https://www.efl.com/-more/governance/judgments-and-decisions/]

The Club, via its Administrators, has also agreed, following last week’s adjournment, to the dismissal of its appeal against the 12-point deduction imposed as a consequence of the Club entering Administration in September 2021, meaning that the sanction continues to apply.

The new nine-point penalty has been applied immediately, resulting in the Club having been deducted a total of 21 points from this season’s 2021/22 Championship table.

The suspended three-point deduction will take effect if the Club does not comply with the terms of the budget as set out in the ‘Agreed Decision’ for the remainder of season 2021/22.

Both decisions are now final and are not subject to any further rights of appeal under EFL Regulations.
