Me neither, teaming with a guy who recently threatened to break Cody's arm so he couldn't hold his kid isn't exactly going to get Kingston good boy points with god.

I agree with you both. Eddie Kingston's much better with Jon Moxley. Not fond of the Kingston/PAC/Fenix/Pentagon pairing.

Very much enjoyed this show. I can see the main event being polarizing, and while I agree with not loving the finish, I quite liked the match on the whole. Agree with the person that pointed that pointed out that this a good litmus test for MJF working the house style, as I expect Guevara and similar type workers to be at the top of the card in AEW for awhile. Even with a hiccup or two (like the missed leapfrog early and if he shoot hurt himself on the tombstone), MJF held his own wrestling a super-athletic pace and style of match.

Intrigued what the endgame will be with the Bucks-Kingston story, and starting to think there could be a Double or Nothing re-match at All Out in a big gimmick match (like NO DQ and Kingston's career on the line). Now, they would need to cool it down for a bit before All Out because of burn out of the pairing, but think there's a big PPV match left where Eddie/Mox take the titles.

Also, I love how they started the road towards Hangman and Omega at All Out. Dark Order are the supportive friends that Hangman never truly had in The Elite, and they will give him the confidence to de-throne Omega.

Finally, if JR does not get the pink slip after that horrific botch at the end of the night, there at least needs to be a come to Jesus meeting to prevent botches like that (and I think that JR is still with it enough to not accept giant mistakes like that).

Edit: Just saw JR tweet right after I finished my post. At least he is taking some blame for it, and hopefully it can be a wake-up call to get his ass in gear. While he's not my first choice as lead AEW announces (and shouts to my Mauro), I also think he can add value to the product and is not totally out of touch with today's product (though not quite as enthusiastic as Schiavone about the evolution of the product from the 80's to today).

I've never seen Ethan Page until AEW but he is rapidly growing on me. I think he's absolute quality and is far more interesting to me than Darby Allin.

Interestingly, all of them have the same motivation: the Bucks took out Moxley, Rey Fenix and Christopher Daniels. None of them have tag partners now.

Eddie and Penta are best friends.

Not The Best Friends, mind you.

yeah, but not with that voice.

especially not when we've got Pac's promo voice sounding like he swallowed a cup of gravel, doing England's rust belt proud

Pac v Omega Shipbuilder's Glove match when?

Bellator is on free TV in the UK, so I've been exposed to some more Mauro after swearing I never wanted to hear him again after his NXT run. He still does a lot of things I don't like, but he has reined in a lot of the more torturous imagery he was inflicting on us. I suppose he'd be an improvement over JR, but at this point a warm body would be an improvement over JR. The question is: would Mauro be an improvement over Tony Schiavone? I would think not.

Also, Jake Hager sucks, but goddamn if they don't do a great job of hiding how much he actually sucks.

Solid show this week.

I may be alone in this, but they are presenting Page as too beta. In an attempt to make him 'relatable' to their core fanbase (nerds) they've made him look like a massive wet fuck. They need to attach some balls to him for me to be remotely interested in the idea of him beating Omega.

They really need to give Jungle Boy some promo time, even if it's on Dark or BTE if not TV. He is improving as a wrestler and they clearly see something in him, but him being a mute feels like it's going to put a ceiling on him. I am digging Christian working with him as a veteran, but I thought the logical next step was Omega vs Christian.

Sammy vs MJF was a good TV Main event without ever becoming anything great. 2 guys with great physical skillsets but not the experience or ring-smarts to put together a coherent, long match. Crazy dive by Sammy. Wardlow was obviously meant to throw Jericho through the table and they didn't get the positioning right, but not a big deal. Was perfectly happy with the finish, hopefully we get Sammy vs Spears in some sort of gimmick match where Sammy gets his revenge.

Can't lie, JR took all of the wind out of the sails for this pretty good Dynamite and at the worst possible time. It was the last thing said after a music video highlighting the time spent at Daily's Place and you call your company WWE. Like, you have one fucking job. Come on man.

I defended JR on here more than most and think the attacks on him could get a little ghoulish, but this was really fucking bad. There's no defending this.

I probably have more thoughts about the show, but that is stupidly the thing I'm thinking about.

I'm curious as to how we came to the opinion that AEW purposefully gave Hangman Page his current character arc in an effort for him to be more relatable to fans. So does him being one of the most over guys on the roster pre-COVID mean nobody related to him/liked him? Because he wasn't a "massive wet fuck" in the backhalf of 2019/early 2020 when he was doing Cowboy Shit, drinking beer with fans, and giving people Buckshot Lariats and walking backstage. If anything, they made him a "massive wet fuck" because fans weren't around for, like, a year, and - regardless of what anyone wants to think - this is THE storyline, and the payoff absolutely cannot come when there's nobody in attendance (or >200, 500, whatever).

Also you and I both have Japanese wrestlers for avatars that the "average" wrestling fan wouldn't even know, so I think we're nerds. I hate to say it, but that's where we're at.

(And All Out isn't until September, so there's plenty of time for Christian vs Omega)

Oh, I'm not dissing nerds. I'm 100% one. And I'm not saying this wasn't the planned story-line all along, I think it is clear it is. I'm not a big Page fan, but Cowboy Shit Page I can get behind. A top babyface who's afraid of stepping up and cries when his friends issue the challenge he should be making does not vibe with me personally, though. I get it, it's just not for me.

I wasn't even sure that AEW purposely gave any wrestler any character arc, and that this Dark Order stuff was all just something they got into on the back of some BTE stuff, and they were just rolling with it because those involved like it.

I guess the Elite has decided that in order to be more hated they have to go through every facial trope in wrestling between the earrings,  beards, mutton chops, and beards.   And nose ring for the Bucks.    If it wasn't for the hairline I wouldn't be surprised if the Bucks start wearing mullets to the ring.

Rebel suffered a dislocated kneecap on tonight’s AEW Dynamite.

Bryan Alvarez reported that Rebel is back on her feet after dislocating her kneecap during a match where she teamed up with Britt Baker to defeat Nyla Rose and Vickie Guerrero. Towards the end of the match, Rebel went to break up a pin, but was unable to move after the spot. Baker picked up the pin after submitting Guerrerro with the lockjaw.

AEW officials tended to Rebel and helped her to the back. The post-match segment saw Rose attack Baker, powerbombing her through a table.

Rebel has only wrestled sporadically since becoming associated with Britt Baker, last losing to Hikaru Shida in a AEW Women’s World title eliminator match back on May 13th. The two were challenged to a tag team match two weeks ago on Dynamite by Guerrero. Nyla Rose has been feuding with Baker since the Dynamite following Double or Nothing, where Rose interrupted Baker’s championship celebration by ruining her hamburger display.

Jungle Boy got a match and win noteworthy win.  Nice!  I wrote just a few days ago that they need to capitalize on him and it'll be a missed opportunity if he gets a backstage segment here or there and we don't see him in-ring until a tag match with Luchasarus a month from now.  And they didn't do that!  He got a backstage segment talking up his performance vs. Omega and his important match last night, then he got an actual match and won.  Excellent.

Oh hey let's have another Jericho/MJF promo segment and dress it up as something special again.  Noooooo

That opener was great.  I don't like non-title matches for title shots.  If you can beat the champion, you should be the champion.  That being said, if you insist on booking that, at least make it a great match.

Now I can't watch a Bucks match without @just drewin my head as I look at their physiques and wonder if they're as bad as he says 😄

THEY LOOK LIKE PORN STARS!  And then Kenny completes the sight gag by coming out later with his own ridiculous facial hair.

I believe Omega as Modern Flair much more than I believe MJF as Modern Flair.  I wrote that before I read @Craig H's post on the matter.  Also, MJF's neckbeard is a real WTF deal for me.  Also, he says "BUD" to punctuate sentences a lot and I hate that.  I went to catholic school with actual nuns for kindergarten through 8th grade and we had one awful old lady nun who'd call us BUD when she got mad, so it strikes a nerve, I guess.

FRIENDSHIP all over the show.  Christian is Jungle Boy's friend!  The Dark Order is Hangman's friend and they believe in him even if he doesn't.  More wholesome than a truckload of Wonder Bread.

I love Darby's Hot Topic Lee Press-On Nails

Ethan Page does nothing for me.  What's his deal?  Who is his character?  He's more generic than Player 1 on Mat Mania.  His goal is to destroy Darby's confidence?  Maybe just tell Darby nobody believes he'd win in a real fight or something.

Honestly you could replace Ross with a soundboard at this rate.  (YOUNG MINORITY RASSLER) reminds me so much of (OLD RASSLER OF SAME MINORITY)!   I can't wait until he fucks up and says a really tan white dude reminds him of Porkchop Cash.  What I'm saying is his comparisons of wrestlers based solely on race is really gross and racist.  Anyway, a soundboard would work fine and you wouldn't get slipups like saying the wrong company's name after a great video package.  We're going to look back on AEW in five years and be like, "remember when Jim Ross did commentary for them?  What was that about?"

I can't say enough about how awesome Miro has become.  Good for him.  And he got some great new music and shed the "Best Man" nickname.  The 'tron said "THE REDEEMER."

I don't understand people not getting Hangman's arc.  He was the friendly, drunk cowboy out to do cowboy shit and win title matches.  Then all his friends left him, so he's not that anymore.  He's still great in the ring but he's not sure about anything else and probably isn't too keen on wrestling his former friend for the belt.

ANDRADE EL IDOLO vs matt something.  LOOOOL

I ffwd'd the main because I was tired and didn't care too much about it, which is wild because they've built both guys up well.  But when I looked at the clock and saw we had 30 mintues still left when the main was starting?  Nah, I'm good.  What I saw was okay -- I'm still not sold on MJF as being anything special but he's fooled people into thinking he's the modern Piper, so what do I know -- but just too much.

I couldn't tell how Reba hurt herself but the aftermath was rough to watch.  Kudos to Nyla for the heads-up move of getting her to the ropes.

Did Britt shoot kick Vickie for no-selling the finish?

Anyway, another great show overall and now they're back on the road.  Hopefully this Delta Variant shit isn't bad and we're getting past COVID.  Fingers crossed for everybody.

@Technico Support Reba's leg looked it bent the completely wrong way when she went to break up the pin after Nyla did the top rope kneedrop to Britt Baker.

Also the CDC said yesterday that vaccinated people are "safe" from the Delta variant and don't need to wear masks. So here's hoping the audiences aren't completely dumb, but they're in Florida and Texas coming up, so I'm not too thrilled with the prospects.

Thanks!  I figured it came from a misstep on the pin breakup but there was nothing obvious after the 4th rewind  😄  Ask Nash and HHH...it's always the mundane shit that gets you.

Cool about the CDC and the variant.  I heard conflicting things and I'm hoping the CDC's guidance doesn't change.

Was MJF just selling leg the after the 2nd-rope tombstone piledriver?  I wasn’t sure if it was just a convincing sell job or MJF accidentally did a tribute to Sid Vicious.

That's how MJF sells the leg. He's done it a few times in the past... And it's odd because compared to every other wrestler in existence you'd think he oversells leg injuries.

I kept thinking that MJF would fake the leg sell to get a heel advantage and when he kept hobbling I was under the impression he hurt it for real.  It also didn't help that after the tombstone there was this awkward moment where everybody's talking trying to figure out the next part of the match.  It went off the rails there for a bit but they got it back on track before the ending.  I think it's a setup for a bigger match on PPV much later on which I'm quite okay with.  Hopefully when that comes they'll drop the bullshit and it'll be worlds better than what we got last night.

And to be blunt fuck Jim Ross.  I know he's gone through a lot but that can only explain so much.  This by rights should be the last straw and the sooner he gets off commentary the better.

@Technico Support, so, I was gonna take this week off. One of the symptoms of my mental illness is what my therapist would call a tendency to "ruminate and fixate." I see or experience something I don't like and I can't let it go. I'm having trouble figuring out if I actually think the Young Bucks are as awful as I've said the last couple weeks or if I just can't reset mentally and let it lie. Even on medication, there are times when I can't control it. I did watch the show last night, and I was grateful that they sent the Bucks out first, to get it over with.  I did have a revelation during the Bucks match last night; the Bucks don't refuse to sell because they're bad at it. They ARE bad at it, but that's not why they don't do it. They don't sell because they have to hurry up and get in place for their next spot. If they aren't in place in time, they can't get enough flips in before their triple piledriver or whatever. I like what Kaz is doing, mostly because seeing Elite guys getting punched in the face is always fun.

Pretty good show otherwise. Miro is the best thing in pro wrestling right now, including Roman Reigns. Just so, so fun and cool.

Jungle Boy is gonna get massive reactions in front of crowds. Hangman Page, too.

Excited for Ricky Starks to be back.

Kinda ready for this Pinnacle/Inner Circle thing to be over with. Guevara is very, very good. Really gotten good in-ring.

Sounds like Rebel got legit injured. HOpe she's ok, as she's become a massively underrated part of Britt's act.
