This got over how relentless the heel onslaught was, while still getting Bayle over as competent, an escape attempt but not quite a hope spot. It's not a spot at all, actually, which is, I think, something missing from modern wrestling. Not everything has to be a spot. Sometimes you can just have a moment or a trend, a continuation. If something like this would happen today it wouldn't feel so much a part of a wave but instead something with a distinct beginning, middle, and end.
