The author of Berserk, one of the most important, and beautifully-drawn manga ever, has passed away at age 54, supposedly of an aortic dissection.

I take a "we'll see" approach to just about everything, but I think this is good news. Berserk was recommended to me by a friend a year or so before Miura passed, but I didn't have the means to collect the deluxe editions that Dark Horse has been putting out until now. From what I've gathered so far, at least in terms of art Miura's shoes are probably impossible to fill. That said, overall I'm glad that old and new fans of the story can hopefully get something close to a proper conclusion.

His assistants should be able to handle the art okay. My reservations involve the story. Mori said he's only going to include things that Miura told him about and won't add anything else to it. Berserk was notoriously slow moving. Are things going to pick up from here on out? Is it just going to be straight plot to the end? It's not a concern as such. I'm just curious.

The new Berserk chapters had pretty good art, but like I said, I'm a bit worried that it's going to be straight plot from here on out. The chapters were a bit thin on dialogue.
