There's not many people on that list who you look at the name and think "Well, he might win", is there?

Jungle Boy winning the Battle Royale and then losing the title match would be a nice next step for him though.

Obvious winner is Christian and not really much else. I'm fine with that. Just give me and extended period of Jungle Boy and Christian as the last two.

I'd list the favorites of the Battle Royal as Jungle Boy (first AEW title match, continues ascent up the card), Christian (who likely will have a title match sometime this year), and the mystery guy (due to the lack of top of the card guys in this match).

Nick Gage was supposed to be last year's surprise entrant, was he not? Now certainly seems like an opportune time to run that back. Deadlock podcast was throwing out the idea of Gage/Kingston/Moxley vs. Kenny & the Bucks.

It would never happen in a million years but how fucking wild would it be if For Whom The Bell Tolls hit for the surprise entrance? Hairs on my arms stand up just thinking about it. I fully recognize Nick Gage is not a good pro wrestler in the traditional sense of bell-to-bell quality work. But he's also Nick fucking Gage.

I would really love it if TK could speak to AEW's fascination with gambling themed shows, apps, matches, etc.

It's one thing I dislike about their presentation. I may be in the minority, but as someone who has struggled with gambling problems (1 year clean in 18 days ?) I'm a lot more perceptive of the insidious nature of gambling advertising. Soccer is incredibly bad on that front, approx. two thirds of Premier league clubs have betting companies as shirt sponsors. I know gambling is a different proposition in the states to here (my hometown of 4k people has 4 bookmakers on the main street), but for a company that has shown itself to be progressive in some ways (LGBT+ presentation, facilities for those with sensory issues etc) I find if a bit disappointing.

Joe's not free until middle of June IIRC.

But we can dream though! I mean, hearing the opening to Simon Says followed by "THE CHAMP IS HERE!" would be ridiculously fucking awesome. Just thinking about it gives me goosebumps.

The only other thing that would come close is hearing the first key from the synthesizer on the Final Countdown.

And I'm not sure the time is right for Nick fuckin' Gage to come in, but the further away they get from his episode of Dark Side of the Ring, the less recognition he'll have. So I'm somewhat torn. On the other hand, "NICK FUCKIN' GAGE" chants on TNT, soooooo.........

EDIT: Fuuuuuck, the more I think about it, the more Nick Gage gives me goosebumps too. For some reason it makes me think of this CZW video from forever ago where Gage comes out and these two little girls sitting next to the aisle are so excite for Gage. Just the hilarity of these girls marking out for Gage is pro wrestling as fuck.

Well if anybody's willing to shell out shittons of cash to license the song it's TK.  But I have a hard time seeing it be him.

I almost don't want to say it out loud... but I can't help but imagine hearing either "The champ is here!" or the opening organ chords to "The Final Countdown" and just losing my shit.

On the chance TK or somebody there reads this I just ask if this is going to happen to please do this before 10pm.  This way on the chance I lose my mind (which I will) I don't risk waking up my wife who has to work early the next day.

Double or Nothing 3 is really loaded.Thinking it'll go three and a half hours at least. I expect Stadium Stampede to headline. I'd go with Hikaru Shida vs. Dr. Britt Baker for the AEW Women's World Championship. It'll mark the first women's match to get the main event on a AEW PPV, Shida is the first wrestler to have a year long reign in AEW and you crown Baker as the new AEW Women's World Champion.

I think the announcer has a better chance than half of them at least.

What does it say about my wrestling fandom that the fact that "The Champ Is Here" also means "Cena" didn't even cross my mind until you posted that?

Nothing inconsistent with your need to be vocal about that how much you dislike that other stuff.

Man, this AEW bubble that we're in sure is nice, isn't it?  I got some popcorn over in the corner but could really go for a Zima.

And whether it was due to lack of caffeine or something it took me a bit to realize that too.  Though my WWF/WWE consumption lately has been a mix of '96 Raw and current Smackdown.

I want Powerhouse Hobbs to win and then squash that douche Omega. Team Taz vs The Elite, add Hook to attack them everytime they wanna cut a promo.

He'll get the Diesel role in it, but he's not winning it. I could definitely dig a Cage/Hobbs vs Bucks tag feud down the line

Yeah, I should follow your lead and just keep quiet about the stuff I don't like ?

Be as vocal as you'd like. I'm always appreciative of the people who advertise how much their perspective is coloured by seething comparative hatred. But you did ask. ?

Just to be the flip side of the coin, I had no idea that phrase was associated with Joe. I assumed you were making a Cena joke.

A couple questions concerning this DON Casino Battle Royale:

1. Are all participants announced or is a surprise debut expected?  EDIT: Answered, I see a TBA is listed.

2. Will this be the 'AEW Original' clunky 4 at a time in intervals or, like the Casino Royale-Tag Edition, the far superior Royal Rumble rules?  Really hoping for the latter.

I'm assuming they do the 4 at a time style since it fits with the gambling theme of the PPV. And I believe all participants are announced except for #21/Joker card, which is expected to be Paul Wight since he's commentating the match (or Nick Gage as a make-good, since he was supposed to be the wild card entrant at All Out 2020).
