Craig H
Holy shit. So earlier today Rizzo and his agent broke off extension talks with the Cubs. And then later on it got leaked that the Cubs offer was 5 years/$70 million. I assume Rizzo's agent leaked it to show what kind of shit show the Cubs are right now and the insulting low ball offer the Cubs gave Rizzo. Which one of you tortured souls wants a really good 1B to captain your team?

Which one of you tortured souls wants a really good 1B to captain your team? To be fair, he's almost 32 and he's coming off a year where he hit .222 with a 107 OPS+. RIPPA
On 3/20/2021 at 5:22 PM, RIPPA said: Mark Shapiro said that unless "something dramatically changes", he doesn't see the Blue Jays returning to Toronto before July 1 The primary reason for this is that at the moment Toronto has barred all public events until July 1 and since the Jays are able to play in front of fans in the US, Shapiro doesn't see the team going back to Canada until they are allowed to have fans. The reason I said "US" is because Shapiro also confirmed that playing in Dunedin beyond June is a challenge due to the weather and that the team will consider then moving to Buffalo. (Apparently Toronto is already working with Buffalo to continue stadium renovations in anticipation of playing games there this year) To follow up on this - the Jays have officially announced that their 3rd home stand will be in Dunedin. (10 games stretching from May 14 - 24) Due to playing in Dunedin - the Jays will be adjusting the start time for games Quote Toronto said weeknight games in Dunedin will start at 7:07 p.m. instead of 6:37 p.m., Saturday games at 7:07 p.m. instead of 3:07 p.m., and getaway-day games at 1:07 p.m.
RIPPA
And for the 2nd straight year - the Nats have a COVID positive test on the even of Opening Day Per Mike Rizzo - 1 player is positive, 4 players and 1 staff member where deemed close contacts and have to quarantine. Rizzo said the Nats are still planning on playing tomorrow As a reminder - this year's protocols are that Positive test equals Quote will be required to isolate for a minimum of 10 days, receive appropriate care and monitoring from the Club medical staff, and be cleared by the Joint Committee and the individual’s team physician, following a mandatory cardiac evaluation and a determination that the individual no longer presents a risk of infection to others.” Close contact with a positive Quote “will be subject to a mandatory quarantine of seven days and must test negative on day 5 or later among other requirements to rejoin Club facilities.”
