The Action Cartoons Thread

Recommended Posts

Because I'm on my phone,  trailers dropped for 2 animated series from Netflix.  Sonic Prime, which looks to be another Sonic cartoon, and Castlevania Nocturne, which pretty much looks like it's going to cover ground from Rondo of Blood and Symphony on the Night much like the last Castlevania series did III.  at least that's what I'm guessing since they're showing Richter.

Finished up Young Justice S4. Dug the format giving each of the still alive original crew an arc. Was nice to see MM and Conner finally tie the knot at the end. I loved that Icicle Jr. was a guest and bawling his eyes out in happiness.

“Wacky Races”

Few details were given, but the Hanna-Barbera panel did show a brief, speeded-up making of, recording the construction of a Muttley model which at the end of the clip emits his memorable rasping snigger.

“Merry Little Batman”

Billed as “an animated family action comedy destined to join the rogue’s gallery of classic holiday movies,” a sneak peek excerpt has six-year-old Damian Wayne alone in Wayne Manor as two thieves creep in to case the joint, but gasp in horror as they see Batman at the top of the stairs. It is, in fact, Damian perched on top of a giant vase, grinning with glee.

“Harley Quinn,” Season 3

Just about to premiere on HBO Max, and received with whoops of approval at Annecy, Season 3 was unveiled via first look art by Jennifer Coyle, the show’s co-executive producer. It begins where Season 2 pretty well left off, she said, with Harley and Ivy now together and on an unofficial honeymoon. One still had them sitting together on a sunny beach. But their honeymoon does have explosions and Quinn will re-meet Batman, another image revealed. Coyle promised the series will have new characters, “twists and turns” and “take audiences to places and show things you don’t see anywhere else,” flicking up an image of what looks like an S&M bar, with a man having his bare bottom spanked. “Here Commissioner Gordon finds himself in a very weird place,” Coyle commented.

Interesting how the models is this we’re tweaked for the actual series.

and I just saw that BTAS alum Kevin Altieri and Dan RIBA worked on the series. And Duckman’s Everett Peck worked on character designs.

You know what is just as impressive as the MCU line-up announced at SDCC?   The upcoming DCEU animation slate.

Inject RWBY x Justice League directly into my soul, please.

2. The Spectacular Spider-Man (2008-2009).

1. Batman: The Animated Series.

Only one choice for top spot. Top three was easy. Some series are lower because I've seen little of it compared to other shows. Might add Wolverine and the X-Men (2009).

Batman TAS, X-Men TAS, Justice League/JL Unlimited would be my top 3. probably Avengers EMH and Spider-Man TAS round out the top 5. Batman B&B might sneak past Spider-Man, but right now it JUST misses the cut.

No Space Ghost Coast to Coast or Aqua Teen Hunger Force?
