As a Frankie Edgar fan, sucks to see him out cold for the first time. Ortega and Korean Zombie stopped him with strikes but he wasn't KTFO like he was by Sandhagen. That could be already KO of the Year for the strike used and how durable Edgar is.

Looks like Volkov managed to open Overeem's third eye. That cut was vicious!

Yeah, Overeem's had bad ones. The split lip (try saying that fast thrice) still makes me wince. Speaking of bad ones, some of the worst KTFO as well from Shogun, Big Foot and especially Francis Ngannou's uppercut from the depths of hell.

It is quite simple, if you have two guys fighting and one eats horsemeat and the other doesn't, bet on the guy that doesn't eat horsemeat. Yes, that means that most of the time you will be betting against Overeem, which is perfectly fine when you stop to think about it.

You can also have some fun by going to Jonathan Snowden's website and posting that the reason he lost his last match was due to eating horsemeat. He will go off like a rocket and demand that you send him your address so that he can come and "sort you out". Yes, a man in his mid-forties will spend a goodly amount of time challenging people to fights on the Internet. He's remarkably easy to provoke and you can have hours of fun tearing apart his ridiculous opinions on MMA in that instant-remainder book he put out a few years ago. Little-known fact, for non-fiction (read: "sports books") for anything that isn't a biography the most expensive part of the book is the cover. Publishers will often print "four up" that is to say that they will print four covers off the same plates because it is far cheaper to do it this way regardless of whether or not you actually have four books or not. As a publisher, you can always find some buffoon to fill 200 pages of drivel and pay them next to nothing because all you're really trying to do is break even on the cover cost. Since you really aren't putting any money into this (maybe giving your "author" $1000 as an "advance") and you likely have $5000 tied up in the cover photography, piggy-backing the printing of the cover with three other "real books" you can actually re-allocate most of that $5000 against the three "real books" which leaves you with having to earn back the $1000 advance you had to give your "author". That's not going to be a problem as your "author" will get himself on every MMA podcast you can think of to push the book. No worries about the fact that it was an "instant remainder", your "author" will spin that as a "special publisher's discount" for all their friends in the MMA community.

Man that flying knee KO on Frankie was brutal. Not saying it's time for him to retire, but he is 39 now, and Frankie's thing was that you could never put him away and never finish him. Now he's been finished three times in the first round. So maybe he either needs to move back up in weight or he's going to be stuck fighting lower level opponents. And the competition doesn't get easier from here.

I was thinking about this before the show about how Edgar and Guida are still around. In hindsight, I think Edgar is a victim of expectations. Guida has had some ugly losses, but there has never been much clamor for him to hang it up. He was never considered to be a top guy or a real contender for any long stretch. The UFC also isn't going to match him with a murderer's row to opponents. Part of that stems from Guida never going on a win streak long enough to warrant a big name opponent.

Edgar is one of these plug-and-play fighters if you need a short notice main event or you need a fight to beef up a rather lackluster card on paper. You would have to match him against someone noteworthy whose going to put at least a decent fight. You just can't match him up against an outright jobber or like what Guida got last Saturday, someone who is a loss away from being out of the UFC. Therefore, you get a Cory Sandhagen who is a low reward and extremely high risk. He can move weight classes, but that's not really going to solve that issue as long he is facing legitimate opposition. He's always been susceptible to getting hit with high powered offense. Now it's doing absolutely fight ending damage instead of beat up face, sub concussive damage.
