Also that pop for New Jack. I forgot how over he was in ECW What makes it even funnier is that Gertner runs through the same entrance way that New Jack came out to for the match. Pete
For all of Jack's demons, he really loved kids and tried to be on his very best behavior around them. One of the funniest things I ever saw was at the JAPW anniversary show in Atlantic City where he brought a bunch of them into the ring to dance around after he beat Sandman and Danny Demanto in a three-way dance. "Will you look at that! I adopted me another little white kid!" I was literally ROTFL. (It was a casino show so the floor was very nice.) 3
Curt McGirt
Looks like WWE called up the funeral home for the service and asked what the nice picture they're putting up next to the coffin is. Ugh... fuck them.

Curt McGirt
I was referring to the photo that WWE posted in their Tweet. Looks like the nice, respectable photo that you might put up at a funeral service. It's nice that they said something I guess, but they also fired the guy the day he was supposed to start, according to him. And the picture looks like they photoshopped the scars out of his head. It doesn't reflect the person. I'm not saying he should be covered in blood but post something that looks like New Jack. Yeah, I'm being hard on them for doing something polite, but I'd rather they didn't say anything at all.

DreamBroken
RIP New Jack. always one of my favorites. Was holding out hope that he'd pop up for a one-off in AEW after he got name dropped on TV during the Moxley/MJF feud and Tony Khan had tweeted about New Jack being nice to him when he was a young fan. Absolute legend.

Legit one of the wildest promos of all time. I still don't know how they made it out of the parking lot after that OJ line. Jesus. New Jack was legit crazy, just crazy enough to be a great wrestler on the mic and in a brawl, but way too crazy for 2021. I guess his passing also represents yet another way that the sense that maybe anything could happen in a wrestling match is sort of gone from the modern product. Damn. hammerva
Kernodle's legacy in the business really depends on how much you view Mid Atlantic before Dusty comes in. In 1983 and most of 1984 he was the guy in tag team wrestling. Slaughter & Kernodle is one of the best teams in the 80s. Then Dusty comes in and he unfortunately turns into Sam Houston or Denny Brown level on the cards. Not sure what else he did outside Carolinas. He went to WWF but probably too late

BloodyChamp
I just heard about both. I don’t know much about Don Kernodle but I think I read more than once that the Final Conflict main event was a dark horse pick for literal best match ever to many people? My favorite thing about New Jack was something that many people didn’t realize but totally got when you mentioned it - he made garbage wrestling an art form. Peck
Tony Marino passed away a few days ago at the age of 90. Long career from the 50s through the 80s and was a close friend of Bruno Sammartino. Marino was also the grandfather of current Indy rising star and Pittsburgh-native Lady Frost. https://slamwrestling.net/index.php/2021/05/28/tony-marino-dies/
