At the people trying to get rid of the nutbar next door? Why?

The consumerist Christmas / Clark Griswold nutbar next door is probably the nicest guy in town while the Jesus Is The Reason For The Season people probably have ball gags, vore porn, and adult-sized cloth diapers secretly hidden away in their basements.

not sure if this thread is also for documentaries from a few years ago but "They Shall Not Grow Old" is a really good documentary (this might not be breaking news) and it's done in a way that's both different from how war documentaries are usually done, and also a way that totally fits with World War I and what Peter Jackson was trying to do.

As for recent stuff, I didn't watch "The Hermit of Treig", which is a BBC documentary, but I read the story on their page and "story about a guy living a solitary life for 40 years in Scotland" seems like could be an interesting watch, although I guess it's not the only documentary of that type in recent times.

Cross  posting this from the futbol thread

Wolves made an in house doc about the recovery of Raul Jiminez, who suffered a fractured skull in a collision just about a year ago.

those who who seen it say it’s great. It’s on the BBC Iplayer for uk folks. Not sure about a US release.

It was a hard watch, but it was so great.  Fuck you, HBO.

You couldn't have written a script that would convince anyone that the channel was gonna make a documentary that detailed and painful about that guy's life and then he just up and dies. They would just laugh in your face and walk away. It really is like "DMX, This Is Your Life!" only at the end of the show they just put a gun to his head and pull the trigger.

I didn't think to mention this last night, but man Earl had BIG TIME crackhead/coked-out energy. If you've been around that shit you can see it when it's there and it was all over him. I don't mean to denigrate the man's name though, he did a lot of good for a lot of people, but that's part of it. Hearing stuff, you think you understand, but when you see it live and in person you understand a lot more.

Yeah,  I haven't watched the doc yet,  but he was pretty open about his drug use. The reason he was so beloved is that he was so open about his demons and it was so clear that his art was him trying to exorcise himself.  I'll try to watch it this weekend.

That looks so bonkers I might actually subscribe to Apple long enough to watch it.

We watched this last night! It’s good and ends up being really depressing due to what this guy did to his neighbors and how he misused religious persecution claims to justify it. It’s really hard to comment more without it being a political discussion, since he was able to originally frame this issue as part of the “War on Christmas”.

For the true crime documentary folks.

And for the record, I don't think that anyone is too scared to go to Starved Rock National Park.  I've been there a few times myself over the years.

Slugfest

Aka the Marvel vs DC documentary series being done by Roku

It is being executive produced by the Russo Brothers with Kevin Smith as the narrator

The basis is the book "Slugfest" hence the name (so if read that book and had issues with it - you will probably have issues with the documentary)

FWIW, Weger is no longer in prison.  He got parole over a year ago.
