2021 NBA - 1st Half

Feels like the Rockets are in the position the Suns were in a little over a decade ago: a perennial contender that got bought by a cheapskate owner and suffered a slow decline.

The big difference is the Suns didn't really get anything for their stars leaving while the Rockets at least got a bunch of picks.

One of us, one of us!

This is insane but the good kind. Nets gave up everything for this and I don't think it'll work but it'll be fascinating to watch. I like LeVert with the Pacers. He'll got a lot of the ball and he complements Brogdon and Sabonis well. Wall, Oladipo, Cousins, and Wood with all the picks is a fine foundation. Think the Pacers are better than the Rockets right now though. Their defense is amazing though swapping LeVert in for Oladipo hurts that a bit. Victor has looked back at his best from the pacers games I've seen so far this season.

Cleveland improves immediately too. Allen is criminally underrated and Prince has been playing well too.

BTW - all the picks Houston got are unprotected

Can't imagine they will be that good, at least for a couple of years, unless they all get hurt, which if it happened would be worth its weight in LOL's. Speaking of which, gotta love the logic of "hey these guys didn't win shit together ten(?) years ago when they were young and healthy, so lets replace the headcase guards and try it again anyway." ?

In retrospect, Scott Brooks deserves to go into the Hall of Fame for somehow getting Durant, Westbrook, and Harden all into the Finals at the same time.  Any random two of those now I'm like "no chance."  He somehow got three of the biggest pains-in-the-ass on the same page.

Then they decline the option and depending on the agreement, they push it forward into the future.

In this case since they're up to the limit of how far they can trade picks none of the swaps will carry into the future.

Kyrie Irving will lose nearly $900,000 as the result of a violation of the NBA's health and safety protocols, the league announced Friday morning.

The NBA has fined Irving $50,000 for violating the coronavirus safety protocols, following an investigation into videos of the Brooklyn Nets guard at a family birthday party that began circulating on social media earlier this week.

The All-Star will also forfeit his salary for the two games he missed during his five-day quarantine, which ends Saturday. According to ESPN's Bobby Marks, Irving will lose $816,898.

If he continues to test negative for COVID-19, Irving is expected to play Saturday against the Orlando Magic, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. On Thursday, Nets general manager Sean Marks said Irving had been tested daily for COVID-19 while he was away from the team.

Irving has missed five games for personal reasons. The NBA's investigation is secondary to Irving's extended personal absence.

The videos showed a smiling Irving, maskless, dancing and standing next to his sister, Asia, while she blew out candles. The NBA's health and safety protocols prohibit players from going to bars, clubs, lounges and gatherings of 15 or more people.

According to the league protocols, players who fail to comply with these rules are subject to warnings, fines or suspensions. Players who repeatedly break the rules could be subject to more severe discipline.
