Brian Fowler
True. Very, very true. Mostly, I was going for the set-up for "see, shit opinions on everything."
ebbie
They hired Tamina, I don't know why they can't hire Benoit's son down the line. Nah. Tamina has her moments. Curtis Axel is a fucking mystery.
Brian Fowler
I still say they would have saved his entire run if they had just called him The Prince of Perfection. He'd probably be the face of the WWE by now.
Reed
I wasn't aware you could read the future. Who knows what kind of wrestler David Benoit will be in a few years or longer? Who are you to say they wouldn't sign him because of his last name and a man he apparently didn't have much to do with to start? This is all kind of presumptuous, that's been my point this entire time. Saying they'd be reluctant to sign him because of his last name is not some weird, far-fetched theory, that's the truth. WWE has went to huge lengths to dis-associate themselves with Benoit and act like he never existed, to the point of absurdity. So why would they then turn around and sign the one big reminder of who Benoit was? Unless, as noted, David was so astronomically talented Vince was willing to overlook it for the sake of making millions. I'm not saying he won't be. But it's a long shot. Buy Me a Burrito
I am going to WrestleCade in Winston-Salem, NC tomorrow. If any of my fellow DVDVRs are going to be there and want to say hey find me on twitter using the hashtag glassbottomboat.

Fat Spanish Waiter
Who is Dwayne Johnson? The Rock is Dwayne Johnson. Who is/was Jim Neidhart. Jim Neidhart was one half of the Hart Foundation with Bret Hart, he later teamed with Owen and Bulldog. He is also the father of WWE Diva Natalya.
ebbie
I still say they would have saved his entire run if they had just called him The Prince of Perfection. For fuck's sake, has playing up the penis a wrestler came out EVER gotten someone over? Really. There's at least a two dozen people (or at least feelsz like it) on the roster that came from "Hall of Famers" and who can honestly say they give a fuck about any of them just because Daddy was worth a shit? Goldust is legit good and should be cared about but they don't go around saying "Hey! There's Dusty Rhodes' baby boy!" This rant isn't directed at you, btw. Gawd, if this stupid idea that you NEEEEDDDD to hire someone because of Daddy, then fuck it. There has been more failures than not because of nepotism in wrestling.
Gonzalez
So why would they then turn around and sign the one big reminder of who Benoit was? A father?
GuerrillaMonsoon
Hire him, put him under a mask or stupid gimmick. Eventually have one of those Jim Ross interviews that they had with Goldust/Foley to reveal the real David Benoit when the time is right/heat dies down
JonnyLaw
Phantom Lord being pro-WWE signing Benoit's kid is less surprising than Daniel Bryan winning March Madness. I'd love to see the internal conflict in him that would arise if WEE did sign him, but it turned out he was a Khali/Nathan Jones level talent.
JonnyLaw
Also, they should go ahead and get it over with and change Davey Richards's name to Davey Benoit.
Niners Fan in CT
Curtis Axel is a fucking mystery. Full of change that no one sees.
Patrick B.
It sometimes seems like there's a lot of misplaced guilt on the part of wrestling fans who liked Chris Benoit, like it's their fault that he pushed himself to the breaking point the way he did. I'm hardly one to psychoanalyze anyone and I've got my own mental baggage like anyone else...just throwing it out there.
mattdangerously
Has David Benoit ever said he wanted to work for the WWE? Do we have any reason to believe he won't turn out to be David Flair levels of awful? Does anybody REALLY give a shit either way, or is everyone really that fucking bored because nothing else is going on right now?
Gonzalez
Has David Benoit ever said he wanted to work for the WWE? Because every wrestler who gets into the business wants to be in the WWE.
mattdangerously
So that's why they have all those Japanese wrestlers on the roster! I was wondering.
Gonzalez
If you ask your typical Japanese wrestler they'll admit that they would love if they were signed by the WWE. Kenta Kobashi has admitted that he wish he had a Mr. Fuji gimmick, and worked for Vince.
RandomAct
I think most of them look at a WWE run as a nice "cap" to their career. Kinda like "hey, I've done all I can do here, it'd be nice to work for Vince just to say I did it". I mean, that's what Ultimo's run amounted to. He wanted to work at MSG and at Wrestlemania, and that was it.
mattdangerously
Serious question: Why hasn't the WWE tried harder to incorporate more Japanese wrestlers into the company?

ebbie
I would like to think it is because Americans wouldn't buy some tiny lil guy doing a bunch of karate shit on a much bigger guy. With all due respect to DB's fans.
RandomAct
They don't know how to push someone who can't cut a promo, either. I'm sure Muta would have been over with them, since he had an existing fanbase. Bring over a Tanahashi, Okada or even a Kojima, and don't fucking change how they work, and they would get over. No, they won't be main event guys, but present them as legit threats, and leave the tired racist shit they always do out of it, and they will get over as legit threats.
