mattdangerously
Y'all acting like there isn't a 99% chance he tweets out something that gets his account deleted once he leaves office and loses his special treatment as a world leader. 3
SirSmUgly
As a side note, I think the concept of Kerwin White is actually a fascinating one for a character, but not with Chavo, and definitely not in WWE, my God. But "LOOK AT THIS MEXICAN ACT LIKE A WHITE GUY" is about as far as that character would ever be developed in WWE.
AxB
Wrestler pretending to be of a different ethnicity than he actually is (and it's obvious) gimmicks peaked with J T Smith thinking he was Italian. Wrestler pretending to have a different ethnicity and nobody acknowledges it's fake, that's too old school now. Outdated and offensive, innit? bodyslamdunk
Last one I can remember is Tanga Loa being Mexican but that was like 6 years ago now, and I don’t remember anyone caring. But I doubt Vince would even think twice about doing it again tomorrow if the opportunity presented itself.

Smith was doing it as a way to try to fit in with the FBI, but that was (surprisingly, for ECW) handled alright. A black dude acting like a paisan is funny, and I don't recall too much fuckery on commentary or in promos about it. I think there's an interesting character there if you try to do it in a less jokey way, kind of in the mold of a Muhammad Hassan-type character that challenges the audience on their notions of race or ethnicity, but WWE couldn't do it...just look at how that Hassan stuff ended.

bodyslamdunk
Yeah, the FBI started when JT Smith, after a concussion, thought he was Italian.
SirSmUgly
Oh yeah, I remember, after one of his botched dives, he got knocked loopy (IRL) and thought he was in Goodfellas (in kayfabe). Yes! Good looking out, folks. Edited November 22, 2020 by Smelly McUgly
Curt McGirt
I think it was something that looked like a serious injury, like he fell on his head or something? When you think about it ECW actually had some kinda charmingly innocent comedy gimmicks for such a vulgar promotion (and audience). The FBI, the BWO, and the early Dudleys had a goofy and fairly clean sense of humor about them. I mean we know how the Dudleys ended up and the Meanie ended up with a porn star, but still. EDIT: Also, Mikey. And when Cactus really went mental after the anti-hardcore stuff. Edited November 22, 2020 by Curt McGirt
zendragon
I honestly thought Kerwin White was supposed to be a face after the first vignette, like we where supposed to feel sympathy for him cause he felt he had to do this. Similar to the pre-terrorist Muhammed Hassan

(And of course, the as-always sympathetic mutants with "You fucked up" and "You fat fuck") I am sure there are a few good people from Philly, but most of them are like this. They boo Santa, they boo their own home team, they are blood thirsty to the core. Play online poker against people from Philly and they will trash talk and heckle you all game long. Then when you lose a hand (that they weren't in) or get eliminated (not by them) they laugh and celebrate as if they just hit the Publisher's Clearing House. Yeah I hate Philly. 1

Curt McGirt
We need more bad Philly behavior. I know many of you have been there. Just how bad are they? Has anyone witnessed a battery thrown at an athlete on a sports field in person?
thee Reverend Axl Future
I have been at wrestling cards in at least 11 states and 3 countries. In my experience, "mutant" is an apt descriptor for Philly crowds. They are vicious, ugly (inside & out) and unrelenting. That said, they are passionate, loyal and genuine. I love going to shows in thee Hostile City. - RAF p.s. - off the top of my bean, Florida crowds were quite racist, NY's are demanding (discerning and privileged), Wisconsin=drunk.
