NOV 2020 WRESTLING DISCUSSION

Recommended Posts

I’m guessing Vince is going to have something to say about talent not taking a vaccine.  Can you let employees who work in live events, service industries, retail, etc. work around the public without being vaccinated?  Besides the health implications, what’s your legal exposure?

My firm’s already talking about how to handle this.  We work in a building with hundreds of other people and a lot of us typically work on-site at client’s offices.  I know of other employers discussing this.  It seems almost impossible to let people return to offices and in-person classes without requiring vaccinations.

Now is that a bag made of asses or a bag full of asses? The people need to know!

They are custom, so whichever you like, you can get. I don't have the direct link here, but either way they've got your ass covered! Don't worry !

Speaking of Dave, I started following him again on Twitter last Friday and already regret it.  I have no idea how he gets his work done.  He responds to most everyone who trolls him and usually out-trolls his trolls (which of course provokes more troll responses).

This is at least the fourth or fifth time I've followed him on Twitter and I never last long.  I really hope he's doing a character on social media because he comes off as a condescending ass.  I'm guessing he is doing a wacky character because he seems far less noxious in the Observer, podcasts, etc.

He has said before that he's basically doing a bit on Twitter.

Although given that it's Meltzer and he's as socially inept as Mark Zuckerberg, the dude doesn't know when to quit.

In Australia, childcare providers will not admit your child into daycare unless you provide their medical history to show proof of vaccination. If you want the service, you have to play by the rules to keep everyone’s kids safe. I expect our workplaces will follow similar protocols once the vaccine comes along.
My cynical side feels like a black market will mushroom for falsified vaccination documents and these people are gullible enough to fork out for it. Maybe Vince should do it like the piss test, in order to be sure: everyone in the room, pants down, bend over, and the needle in the buttocks, just like the Ambrose skit.

How we do know Vince is pro-vaccinations anyway? Not wanting to get sued?

Yeah, and too much money to be lost if there's a bigger outbreak or if they get shut back down. He's evil, not stupid. He's the guy at the top who makes big bucks peddling slop to the rubes, not a True Believer. Though it would be funny to hear him give a David Icke style rant about lizard people.

I have hardly ever listened to podcasts but I am all a-fluster on the idea of Mr. McMahon running a lizardfolk-Bohemian Grove-Mothman-Vril-ancient astronauts-morphogenic fields type call-in show, whether it be sincere or in gimmick. I would buy whatever energy drink/male potency supplement sponsored him. One Man Gang could be his co-host.

I come off as a condescending ass?

We all do, from time to time. I was thinking specifically about the post earlier in this thread about Zelina Vega and contract law that started out like this:

That's a self-serving argument.  "Your honor, I wouldn't have robbed that man in the first place if the police had let me make a living robbing other people."  Onlyfans has a reputation as a softcore porn site.  Not a lot of employers are going to let themselves be associated with that.

and ended like this:

They work in a profession where they get dropped on their heads.  Maybe diminished capacity is the best argument to make in court?

which struck me as perhaps more condescending than amusing.

Speaking of, I also came off as condescending without meaning to when I asked @Eoae about whether or not he was playing a contract lawyer on the internet or if he had expertise. One of those, "I didn't mean it as an insult, but looking at it again, uh, my bad, that was rude" things. So I apologize.

Fair enough.  Fwiw, the last line was just a joke that failed to land.

For my part, I am - and likely always will be - overly sensitive about "pro wrestlers are big dummies/brain damaged" type of comments, and I am very much against McMahon taking money out of the pockets of his "independent contractors," plus I came into this thread feeling salty due to some unpleasant discussion going on in the hated wrestler thread.

I wonder if this is gonna be that second show on TNT as opposed to a show with matches

I think that the collaboration with X are personality pieces to flesh out the stars of AEW and introduce them to a wider audience, which will be one of the steps as they launch the new show on TNT.

Honestly, I think we're all feeling salty these days.  I mostly feel like I haven't been able to relax and take a breath since.... February?  January?  Pandemic fear is eating me alive most days.  I don't sleep much and wake up most mornings wondering if I can get through the day and holding my breath for whatever bad news the day brings.  I'm definitely feeling a lot edgier than I used to.

Spike Lee is supposedly directing a musical about Viagra.

2020 has a long way to go, yet.
