The big reason is we don't someone to start some shit and they not face the consequences of their actions by deleting. Especially we needing a record of members posting history as we are deciding when/if punishment is warranted (since they are multiple admins we need the data to compare to). 

It is a similar reason why banned members aren't deleting - we need to compare against potential socko accounts.

Multi-posting happens and its easy enough to delete the content out of one of the posts and an admin can delete it when cleaning up

And lastly - my personal preference is someone thinks BEFORE they post rather than AFTER. (IE: am I really contributing to this discussion? do I really need the last word, does this thread really need 5 more images, etc...).

I guess the other forum that I post on that has that feature never has a problem with someone stirring up shit.
