Fixing the entire NFL, or even just the primetime games, would be functionally impossible, and keeping it a secret would be literally impossible. There's too many players, coaches, etc. Throwing passes on the money is too difficult to only do when you're "supposed to." Field goal kicking is an absurdly difficult thing to do. Etc etc etc

Games, prime time or not, come down to the wire more because of the way the game has changed stylistic to favor passing offenses over all else. You can score while eating up way less time, but that also means you can leave the door open for comebacks by scoring too quickly. We are just starting to see coaches adjusting to the new reality that having the ball last is the most important thing in modern football (see Gurley, Todd)

Teams don't get a 12 point lead and then turn it over to their workhorse running back to kill the clock and slowly chew up yards anymore because the modern rules have made scoring quickly so much easier.

I see a lot of truth in this and agree with the majority. Lots of wonky officiating too though.  Nowhere near as bad as last year but still some questionable calls to be sure.

The sports books don't always get it right and they got killed on Sunday.

The Pittsburgh Steelers (+ 1) beating the Tennessee Titans 27-24 also was a big loss for multiple books in the early window. Over 70% of the bets at BetRivers and SugarHouse sportsbooks were on the Steelers.

Yep, this is what they need to be judged upon.  Whether or not they are close on the score means absolutely nothing.  Sure, they may guess right, but it doesn't matter at all if they lose money.
