SirFozzie
News flash: Scotland are very, VERY good. edit: This was posted at halftime on the BBC text feed: Martin Johnson Former England captain and coach on BBC One Wales should probably be leading. They'll be sat in the changing rooms thinking, "we're in this". As it turned out, they weren't actually "in this" Edited February 11 by SirFozzie

SirFozzie
Honorable defeats for Italy and Wales.. tommorrow's game should be interesting edit: Well, whether it would be a game was answered in the first ten minutes or so as Scotland have a player sent off (haven't seen it yet, so can't opine on it, but oof. Makes me wish that the 20 minute rules was in effect) Edited February 26 by SirFozzie
The Natural
Half-time: England 3-27 France. Most points England have conceded in a first half of a Six Nations match at Twickenham. Fuck.
SirFozzie
yeah, I can't even come up with something witty/funny to say. LOL england rugby.

SirFozzie
Well, I celebrated earning my "Degenerate Gambler: Online Sports" badge (I already had the poker version) with online sportsbooks legal in MA, by making my first rugby bet. They made me sweat (I had Ireland -8.5), and I have to admit, having a tenner on the result made me pay attention to the last couple minutes when it would have faded to background noise as the result was decided. SirFozzie
Damn. That was a good first half until the last couple minutes where England have a man sent off in.. somewhat controversial circumstances. Ireland odds on for the Slam.
The Natural
Just now, SirFozzie said: Damn. I'm leaning towards no.
SirFozzie
Under the rules, contact to the head. I definitely could see yellow with no complaints, but by the rules, he's gotta go.
DangerMark
Earlier on in the tournament, Liam Williams got a yellow card because Johnny Sexton ran face first into his shoulder. By that standard, it was absolutely a red. The rules are pretty clear these days, if someone gets a pointy bit to the head, the person whose pointy bit it is will be sitting down, and he'll only be coming back on if they look like they tried to avoid hitting the target in the head. As a Wise Man said: "it's very simple: you can't hit him on the melon."
SirFozzie
I do think that they need to look into a 20-30 minute replacement red card rule, if only because a red card is such a game decider.
DangerMark
Perhaps, but the counter argument is that such outlandish punishments do change behaviour. No-one leads with their shoulders into people's heads in the ruck after two separate incidents won Wales a title a dew years back. Now, what behaviour Freddie Steward could have changed (other than wearing white,) I'm less sure.
SirFozzie
The board agreed with you, and rescinded the red card: https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2023/mar/22/freddie-steward-cleared-after-red-card-for-england-in-ireland-overturned-rugby-union

SirFozzie
One of the reasons why Rugby is a helluva sport. You won't see the winning team after Euro 2024 go on a four day bender. https://www.reddit.com/r/rugbyunion/comments/11yyjhd/gary_ringrose_wouldnt_come_out_drinking_with_the/
SirFozzie
Crazy finish to the Women's Six Nations. Grand Slam decider between England and France. England led 33-0 at half, and held on 38-33. https://www.bbc.com/sport/rugby-union/65434340
SirFozzie
In the lowest scoring game in MLR history, the New England Freejacks shut out Rugby New York 8-0. Gotta suck when you hold the other team to 8 points and don't even get a losing bonus point.
SirFozzie
Pre-match Rugby League warmups are no joke, and that's no bull. Actually, wait, that IS a Bull. https://twitter.com/SkySportsRL/status/1654557386621812737
