Curt McGirt Posted October 11, 2020 Posted October 11, 2020 I think I can switch my top 100 vote of Enter the 36 Chambers for Liquid Swords, easily. It's just the best. I think the top five Wu records would go like this: 1. Liquid Swords 2. Enter the 36 Chambers 3. Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 4. Ni**a Please 5. Supreme Clientele and then after that Return to the 36, Wu Tang Forever, Ironman, Tical, maybe Bobby Digital, and if it counts definitely Blackout. Put an asterisk next to that one. I really should listen to Uncontrolled Substance again. 1
Curt McGirt Posted October 11, 2020 Posted October 11, 2020 Also, my Public Enemy pick is actually Apocalypse '91. I know most everyone else picks either A Nation of Millions or Fear of a Black Planet but they flat-out killed it on '91. 1
Casey Posted October 11, 2020 Posted October 11, 2020 Sour Soul is a really good album that I think a lot of people slept on when it was released. Maybe that's just me, though. 1
Curt McGirt Posted October 11, 2020 Posted October 11, 2020 I'll check that out. I recall liking 12 Reasons To Die a fair bit too.
Casey Posted October 11, 2020 Posted October 11, 2020 I'm still upset we never got the MF DOOM and Ghostface collab album. 1
Curt McGirt Posted October 12, 2020 Posted October 12, 2020 There's still time. There IS the Czarface vs. Metalface record at least. 1
John E. Dynamite Posted October 13, 2020 Posted October 13, 2020 I actually did this of my own volition a few months ago, I have what would be considered a full ballot just chilling in a Google doc. The process was brutal, some of the cuts I made hurt me to my soul. Supreme Clientele, Post, Pastel Blues, Exile On Main Street, Thriller, Elvis' Sun Sessions, Pod, Lady Soul, Rum, Sodomy & The Lash all finished between 125-101. If you undergo this process, you might have look at myself in the mirror and ask, "Am I really a person who likes 100 albums more than anything Isaac Hayes put out?" It's rough. Something that made it easier was making little rules for myself. I didn't include anything five years old or less, I didn't include more than three records per artist and I was very stingy with compilation and live albums. Cut a few really good EPs, too. I found it a lot easier to make personally, subjective choices when deciding what to keep on. This is the big list, in order from 100 to 1, that I'll be mulling over and tweaking until January. Curt McGirt Posted October 14, 2020 Posted October 14, 2020 I didn't put (GI) on my list. That is a problem.

The Wolf mostly, but need to explore more of it. The list looks very promising, albeit has PLENTY of material I'm not at all familiar with, but that's obviously the whole point of this endevour.
