Houston is absolutely cursed

Game vs North Texas postponed. UNT has 4 positive tests and contact testing left them unable to field a team.

So that is now FOUR times that Houston has been unable to play its opening game.

Earlier today it was announced USF was pausing all football activities to allow for more COVID testing since they played Notre Dame last weekend.

Well now their game with Florida Atlantic has been postponed.

It should be noted the state of Indiana today announced they are moving to Phase 5 reopening.

No restrictions on indoor & outdoor gatherings.  Only masks are required (lol).

So, expect 77,000 for the next ND home game on 10/10.

I'd say God help us, but he's too busy fixing games for Notre Dame.

I can’t wait to see all the records at the end of the season.  And then I want to see the playoff committee try to parse them out in a way that makes any kind of sense.

What’s really going to suck for some of these kids is we’re going to see teams who do everything right but miss out on the playoffs and/or conference title games because they didn’t play enough games because their OPPONENTS weren’t able to stay clean and play.

And apparently the Mountain West is going 8 games.

Unless they know something about the bowl games specifically the BCS games that we don't this is desperation at its worst.  A PAC 12 team will be lucky to finish in the top 10 much less have a playoff shot at 7 games.   Boise State would have to be dominate to be considered the winner of the "Group of 5" or whatever it is called.  Hell I don't even know if that is happening this year

At this point, it’s just about optics.  Nobody wants to be seen as “weak” or “not taking football seriously,” because they fear it will be used against them in the future.  That’s the only reason why the MAC, a conference whose membership loses their ass financially every year, is coming back to take an even worse financial drubbing now that none of them are going to get those paycheck games against P5 opponents, they’re going to have to pay out their ass for COVID testing/precautions, draw even fewer fans than before, likely not have any bowls to play in, etc.

There’s no value to most of these schools/conferences playing, besides perception.

Every Pac-12 team will play the five opponents in its division, plus a divisional crossover game, prior to the Dec. 18 conference championship game. The teams that do not qualify for the title game will play an additional conference game against a squad from the opposite division the same weekend. The Pac-12 will release its full schedule of games in the next few days, the conference said.

And in the same story it states "The Pac-12 has not received an indication it would be ineligible for the College Football Playoff"

Oh the California schools and Colorado still have to get clearance due to several governmental restrictions

Well besides the fact that they are in the Pac-12 to begin with ?

Has anyone actually heard of the plans of college bowls?  Have they mostly been cancelled.  Clearly we aren't going to get the 80 bowls currently but wondering how much of a drop it is

Yeah, funny how that works.

Also, UGA is struggling mightily against Arkansas without either of their transfer QBs.  I suspected they might have trouble with that in the early part of the season but not “score 5 points in the 1st half against Arkansas” kind of trouble.
