I can see Janela being released. I doubt he's happy and he offers them little.

Eh, well he's probably getting a steady paycheck and gets to be on TV every regularly at least. Why eliminate a source of income like AEW/Turner, especially during a pandemic?

He offers them much, in terms of talent scouting. There's nobody on the AEW roster who is as plugged in to who's good on the indies right now as Joey.

Re: Janela getting fed to Jericho

I feel like Sonny coming out and bumping Jericho is going to be one of those little details that pays off down the line.  I’d bet you anything he’s Jericho’s next project.

I will note they gave that spot to Sonny Kiss. I also could see that being another feud for Jericho down the line. At the same time, I still wouldn't have had Janela get demolished by Jericho tonight.

On Jericho's podcast with Sonny, he said that the Darby mini-feud he had in the early months of Dynamite, Jericho had wanted to do that angle with Sonny but they gave Darby the spot instead.

Didn't JR say "Holy pepperoni" or some such tonight? That did get a snort from me.

Right, I wasn't thinking this moment, but if things start to return to "normal" first half of next year I could see it. He's got an ego/huge belief in himself and his stock has fallen not risen. He's being used as a job guy between this and the Archer squash last month or July. The Sonny team doesn't seem to be going places at least not right now. He's a good but not a great talker and his in-ring work isn't good. The best thing he's always been able to do is promote shows and pick out talent. From the start I was hoping they'd give him a special of some sort and let him bring in indie wrestlers and some legends and mix them in with some of the AEW roster for a Spring Break-type show.

Saying Jericho weighed 335 pounds should get that little creep Justin Roberts dumped in to the Mimosa Vat(which sounds like a label on an Adam West-Batman episode)

Or as Tony called it, the "Orange Mimosa Match"

Also, something my wife pointed out - didn't one of the stipulations in the contract Moxley and MJF signed last week say that Sterling had to win his match in order for MJF to get his title match?

Which is "the little" in my comment. Like Khan doesn't have people watching the indies? I don't know. I wouldn't shit on him and send a bad message to prospective hires but I don't see a lot of value in him.

Really good go home show tonight. I legit felt uncomfortable during the FTR/Kenny/Page segment. Kenny and Page bring the drama better than anyone else.

I also thought it was funny that TNT tried to censor more profanity tonight, but missed Moxley saying to go fucking nuts.

And going back to death match wrestling to crowds of 30 to boot.

Excaliber was so welcome back tonight, really felt like he was holding things together.

Massive upgrade on the chaos of last week.

I thought everything worked tonight except the battle royal mess. The first casino battle royale was a horrid, uncoordinated sack of shit, kinda like that segment. I eventually just skipped past it. They'll have to try hard for this one to be worse than the first and there's quite a bit of good talent and some storylines going in, but I'm just not a fan of the gimmick.

This PPV is going to be bonkers. It's a shame Hangmin/Omega v FTR won't have a full house to play out in front of but I have the highest of expectations for that. The women's title will be the first great women's match since the last PPV unless their not working previously somehow leads to a lot of awkwardness, I'm guessing they've been working on it for a while. Jericho and OC are 1 for 2, so that could go either way. I'm guessing Jericho's ego won't allow him to have two stinkers in a row. Hardy/Sammy will get some actual time and they'll bust out a lot of zany shit. I look forward to it. I can see Jurassic Express upsetting the Bucks so they have time to build to FTR/Bucks at the next PPV, but serious business Bucks probably shouldn't be losing. 8 man tag should be either an opener or on the pre-show but I think the Britt/Swole match is the only thing I saw as advertised for the buy-in. They did a helluva job building up to this aside from that gong show of a match last week. Swole is a fantastic character and Britt's come into her own as a Karen. Both have a lot of room for improvement in the ring but you can see the promise. I'm excited. Maybe not quite as excited as pre-pandemic PPVs but Double or Nothing was the first time I watched AEW after their first closed doors show and I was shocked with how great it was. There's enough there that should one or two of the matches disappoint the rest of the show should pick up the slack. I agree that Mox/MJF should probably be a pretty quick and decisive win for Moxley, but I don't think they'll go that way. They can still run with a lot of the same general ideas coming out of a standard MJF loss as they would a squash.

I think that 18 months ago, when they were planning out what AEW was going to be, they really envisaged that there would be a Hardcore Division as a big part of it. But as it turns out, that hasn't really been a thing. But Janela was one of the first people they signed.

No, he had to compete, not win.

Janela should be a JTTS in AEW.  That's where his talent level is.  I'd call him the Chase Owens of AEW, except without the allegations.

My prediction; "nothing I sign matters" means Mox gets DQed and keeps the belt that way by Using the Paradigm anyways, perhaps when he has the match won anyways, leading to a rematch down the line after an injury angle for MJF.  (maybe Wardlow as an interim feud)
