I ain't even finished and everything about this show felt off from the get go. Matt Hardy bump was the worst. I thought he was paralyzed or something. Why am I watching this shit? Lost a lot of good will on this one. This is how you go from self aggrandizing as the cool, moral alternative to worse than the machine you're trying to outdo.

Correct. But I think to the Kairi thing and that was bad, this was significantly worse what with the doctor and ref stopping it. Feels like a lack of control from Khan to just cut it and get security out there.

And my God the tension on commentary. JR was so cranky, ex stumbled all over the place, and Tony was just saying random shit. They clearly had enough of each other by the second or third match in.

Well, I guess AEW had to deliver a dud PPV at some point.  Leaving aside the Matt Hardy fiasco...

Mox/MJF was well worked, but it was kinda like a WWE PPV main event, in that even if it’s well worked, the show has been entirely too long and you’re just ready for it to be over, regardless.  MJF got good color in what I imagine was his first time.

Speaking of too long, the Tag Title match was fine but 10 minutes longer than it needed to be.

Jericho/OC was also very fine-ish, but it definitley came across like Jericho finding a way to lose the feud without doing another clean job for OC.  And the actual dunking didn’t look humiliating enough to offset that.

Shida/Rosa was MOTN and even THAT felt too long, at times.  I hope they’re able to use Rosa some more (and definitley sign her when the NWA finally goes kaput).

I liked the 8-man tag quite a bit, and Dustin’s promo afterwards was easily the best thing on the show and I am HYPED for Brodie/Dustin on Wednesday.

Very disappointed with Tony Khan's defense of that match and saying Matt Hardy passed concussion protocol. I wonder what protocol that is.

Real bad job on his part. He should've admitted they made a huge mistake and owned it because that would've been a million times more effective from a PR standpoint. That's one lesson he should've learned from Paul E, who when ECW fucked up (like the fire incident) admitted it to the fans (Remember the great Dreamer line: "Paul would lie to the boys but never the fans").

I can't help but wonder what people would have thought of the show if not for the Hardy situation. Because take that out and while not their strongest show it still had some pretty good stuff going on.

But unfortunately that happened and knowing he was concussed for that finish pisses me off. They should have known better.

I thought it was a really good but not excellent show, but this is gonna be the worst pr move in their history so far. That’s what people will remember. And I get it, that was clearly super ugly when it happened. And dangerous with no precautions even though they clearly set up the lift with two tables. Concrete??

They need to pay nwa whatever it takes to continue with Rosa.

Maybe Billy Kidman, but even then we're talking about a guy who seriously rang Chavo Guerrero's bell. So point taken.

Billy Kidman has the most famous shooting star botch of anyone not named Brock Lesnar

I guess I don’t get the passion around disproving @Flair’s Shadow. He’s doing a bit for what he wants to see that’s pretty self contained to specific threads. Pretty easy to block or roll past. If he (or anyone’s gimmick) derail a conversation enough, the admins here are pretty good at warning them.

Unless if the bit is to rag on the bit. Then this is some 3D-bit chess that I’m too big of a mark to follow.

Dark Order/Private Party on the preshow was good but Dark Order's last 2 really cool sequences towards the finish both felt like that should've been it so the eventual actual finish looked pretty weak in comparison. Bucks/Jurassic was solid. Really liked the casino battle royal, easily better than the original disaster with a good group of guys and some drama around the finish. Sydal was a cool surprise, good to see him again. Loved his Impact run. Botch was scary, I'd never seen him mess up the SSP before as his almost always looked pretty perfect. Hope he's gonna be a regular going forward, could have some great matchups for sure. I thought going in that Kingston would win but I'm thrilled to see Archer get the big win.

the Matt/Sammy stuff was insane and the obvious low point of the show. Rosa/Shida was really great as expected, loved it. 8 man was pretty good. Tag title match was really long and I'm sad to see the end of Hangman/Omega, loved them as a team. Finish fell kinda flat, like why kick out of the Mindbreaker just to get up and do it again exactly the same as the finish... plus Kenny being unable to make the save didn't come off well either. Didn't really get why Kenny left Hangman laying like that either. Dug the main event, didn't love the finish there either but good bloody brawl. Definitely far from the best PPV but enough good stuff in there to enjoy.

So according to the post show media scrum Tony said even at the hospital Matt came out fine.  And it seems like there was genuine concern from Tony which was addressed a few times during the scrum. The optimist in me wants to believe despite that so I may see how things are tomorrow. For those like @Jijiit might be worth trying the show again another day and just skip through the Hardy match.

I enjoyed the PPV just fine. Not as good as Revolution or Double or Nothing 2, but still a decent show. Enjoyed all of the title matches and the Mimosa Mayhem match. Also, Bucks-Jurassic Express was pretty good, and think the Bucks work better as heels or heelish. Disagreed with the tag title match thoughts here, but also strongly disagreed with the consensus here about Young Bucks-Rhodes Brothers from Fight for the Fallen last year (thought that was a really good match). I'll agree that you could have edited a few minutes off it. However, it told a very good story about the history between Kenny and Hangman and that Hangman was very hard to beat (liked it taking two spike piledrivers to beat him). Also, always thought that Hangman was the good guy in the team (and hell The Elite) all along, and glad that they are going with Kenny as the heel (think that Kenny also turns on Bucks though).

Well that was a bit of a downer. For as much good stuff as there was (Bucks/Jurassic Express and the 8-man tag exceeded expectations, title matches were all good or better) the bad deflated it. I don't mind a bit of sports entertainment but that Tooth and Nail match was not, poor Shockmaster Sydal at least didn't hurt himself, and the whole Hardy debacle leaves an off taste. Tony Khan said on the pre-show he became acquainted with Billy Corgan through his friendship with Chris Nowinski, some sadly comic irony. That'll be an awkward conversation when they next hook up to say the least.

Two favourite moments were seeing Archer rip it up as hoped and MJF hanging with Moxley wrestling-wise showing that he does have a long bright future. Oh and all the creative peril spots in the Mimosa match.

I honestly couldn't care less if the Hardy/Sammy match continued. Yeah, that bump was really bad, but I'm not all up in arms that it continued. I think most of you are being a tad overly sensitive, especially considering NJPW still does shoot headbutts without much of a peep.

Thought the rest of the show was good, but too long. I'm not going to call this one a dud or anything, but it's probably the least good PPV they've had, which is still better than most other shit that passes as a PPV.

I also saw Tenet tonight and came away really disappointed and confused from that so this just wound up being the better thing I paid to watch tonight.

I don't think it's fair to call this a dud, despite it being ruined by the inexcusable Matt Hardy decision.  That said, I wasn't going to let it ruin the rest of the show- the horrible decision happened, and I'll complain about it once it's over hard and I never want them to do it again- I suspect the backlash will lead to changes, AEW has shown enough willingness to change that I'm willing to forgive them for this if it doesn't happen again.  What happened happened, you can't undo it.

It was an hour too long, but Shida/Rosa and MJF/Mox saved it.  Both of those were legit matches worthy of an Dominion level title match.   It made me think MJF might already be the best guy AEW has- what he did tonight was as good as anything Jay White has ever done.

The thing is, when AEW wants to have epic performances in an epic match, they do that by having one or more people in a match take an ungodly amount of punishment. And usually it works. It gets the person over as a tough guy who can take the beating, and it gets their opponents over as merciless killers. It worked with Jungle Boy in the JE vs YBs match.

But then Hardy happened. And after that, it's hard to get behind a match based around someone taking a major beating and keeping going, when we've just seen someone get legit fucked up bad, and then keep going when they shouldn't have. It seemed to really quiet the crowd for the rest of the night, and so things that should have felt epic and intense instead had a quietness and remoteness to them. It's one of the hardest things in entertainment, trying to get an audience back into a performance after you've lost them. There aren't many wrestlers who can do it, and most of the ones who can, it's basically having one super-over move that always gets a pop (like how if a crowd died in an Austin match, all he had to do was tease the Stunner and they'd wake up for it). And there aren't many moves in AEW that have that kind of over-ness. The One Winged Angel should, but it doesn't.

According to Sean Ross Sapp, he had multiple fans in attendance tell him that it was because of the humidity (around 80%) that their energy levels were decreasing.
