All Out II - 9/5/2020

As much as I would love to see Wardlow smash MJF and win the title, that means that MJF would have to beat Moxley tomorrow and I don't want to see that happening just yet. Tomorrow needs to be the humbling. Then MJF puts a bounty out on Moxley's head to break him down, like everything Bane put Batman through before he broke him, and then MJF wins the title.

They should book MJF and Wardlow just like Shawn and Diesel. The heater eventually wins a singles title before the "star", who gets jealous and turns against him. They will have to keep them together for awhile, so when the breakup happens Wardlow is seasoned enough to be a real player long term.

MJF & FTR are turning on Wardlow after MJF wins his AEW World Championship right there in the middle of the ring before PPV turns to black.

Remember Moxley saying in a promo 2 weeks ago MJF was hiding something?

Remember MJF stating the name Tully Blanchard in the contract signing with Moxley?

FTR & MJF both speak of old school wresting...this is the Apocalypse forming.

Wardlow gets smashed at All Out and his bloodied body will laying on the mat alongside Moxley and Hangman Page who attempt to save Moxley from the ultimate beat down at the end of the World Championship match.

Wardlow is going to be laying in a pool of blood...his own.

Just like the supposed pool of blood we were going to see at the contract signing that never happened?

I’m pumped for All Out anyhow, but I’m even more pumped to come into this thread, and see how hard you backtrack when your fictional little Apocalypse doesn’t happen, and Mox retains the title.

Then it will be proven once again that The Shadow knows even less than he thinks.

The "let's just make All Out the best ppv" part kind of sounds like "please shut the fuck up now" but it's absolutely the right move and I'm so happy that they are flexible and listen to their audience. One of the more promising aspects of AEW tbh.

So with Dr. Britt being moved to the PPV (and rightfully so) what match do you guys think gets bumped to the Buy In?

Based on Tony’s previous comments about wanting to have a match on there to hype people for the PPV I’d say the Casino Battle Royal would be the ideal choice. I don’t see any way the 8 man tag would work in that spot, and The Young Bucks shouldn’t be bumped to the Buy In either even if their match would probably be the ideal choice.

It's a fun idea but they're already done the "surprise entrant wins a multiman match and gets a shot" thing with Cage, so I'm not so sure they should go back to that so quickly.

Gotta agree. It would be an awesome surprise if he is in it, but having him win it all would be just a liiiiiiittle too TNA for my tastes.

Also, it kind of shits on your regular roster if an outsider keeps winning things like this.

Exactly. As much as I think Miro would be a boon for AEW, running the same old thing where the surprise former WWE entrant wins a title shot would be lame. Also, it sucks to say it, but there's no room for Miro. We JUST got Archer back on Dynamite after what felt like months of him being on Dark or not being used at all. I know TK's philosophy is basically absence makes the heart grow fonder, but there's some guys I just want to see all the time, like Archer, Cage, Starks, Lucha Bros, Darby, Kingston, TH2, Colt, and Scorp. Some of those guys just popped back up on Dynamite recently, but when I think of how large the roster is and how many don't make it to Dynamite every week, it sucks to also think, "where does Miro fit in, who does Miro bump back to Dark, and should Miro get pushed over someone like Starks?"

Plus, I think for TK, it just fucks up his roadmap and it forces him to reconfigure everything. In addition to his shelving of wrestlers to give them a break and make people miss them, he also seems to have a comic book storyline style to his storylines where things play as they should, the big event comes to a head, and then we're onto the next big story arc. Unless he can plan for it in advance, I just don't see Tony hiring Miro.

And honestly, where I most want to see Miro is in NJPW, but that's fucking impossible at this point. I want him vs Ishii, MiSu, Ibushi, and others.

You dudes are not wrong, but one thing occur to me: Won't All Out 2020 be taking place...

... on Russev Day?

Also: Hell yeah I wanna see Miro vs Ishii, too.

So glad Britt/Swole is on the main card. Fuck yeah.

And one of my friends offered to make mimosas during the mimosa match tomorrow. She's a top quality friend in my book and I appreciate the dorkiness of it all. And tomorrow's gonna be super fun and I can't wait for it to happen.

With the bragging about calling things early, I did make a comment weeks back about an OC Jericho feud turning into a mimosa marketing plan, but that was more the entrepreneurial stuff than within the feud itself.
Getting more excited for the show and so glad they’re keeping with the Saturday PPV, watching on Fite on a leisurely Sunday brunch time here in Oz is great.

On the one hand I get the criticism of the gimmick heaviness, on the other hand none of it feels too much like a crutch to make up for lack of talent or hook. Seeing (presumably) the visual of Jericho showing arse as only he can, flailing about and hamming it up in the mimosa is an example. It’s a great payoff without Jericho having to lose twice in a row in a standard match.

Edit to add: Penta is my pick for the battle royal to break away from the Friends of Kingston and kickstart his singles push through the inter-PPV Dynamites over the next few weeks

If only the COVID situation wasn’t such a clusterfuck that may have been a possibility, I feel it’s pretty unlikely now but who knows.

As for the match itself, I wouldn’t be averse to seeing Lance Archer go on a Cesaro-esque perpetual motion Murderhawk murder spree tossing guys across the ring, into each other, out of the ring, moonsaulting into a pile of humanity, the total showcase. Show us what made everyone sit up and take notice last G1.

I would think that somehow even if he doesn't do anything MJF will blame Wardlow upon losing and they feud that way.

I like the Shawn-Diesel scenario mentioned above.  I also wouldn't mind the result of this match being Moxley breaking one of MJef's limbs and putting him out of action.  Leading to him managing Wardlow on a run at the strap.  That said, I would prefer seeing Wardlow slowly build from the lower ranks into the megastar he's destined to be.

I don't agree on the previous poster claiming no room for Miro, but it does seem like they're lost with all these big guys whom they want to portray as monsters and keep protected.  Cage and Archer have been kinda lost in the shuffle.  Tho, these past few weeks are hinting at an inevitable clash which I'm game for.  Just not in a blah'ttle royal.

I'd also like to see the tag division get a Skyscrapers-esque unit.

I completely agree on AEW being flexible with the audience, but I really don't get why Baker/Swole on the pre show makes any difference?  I'd also be curious to hear Khan address the rampant JR criticisms, tho I expect that'd be met with a dodging political bullshit answer as he is prone to.  I like Khan, and I like his positivity and enthusiasm, but he's shown next to no ability or interest in engaging an objective conversation concerning creative or in ring shortcumings.

Yes this is a parody twitter account but I mean it isn't that wrong

I think the difference is that the gimmick matches aren't shoehorned into feuds like in WWE. Jericho/Cassidy and Matt/Sammy escalated to their gimmick matches, the gimmick matches didn't happen because the PPV is called "Mimosa Mayhem" or "Broken Rules".

Edit: I think Swole/Britt was made a gimmick match out of necessity, to work around Britt's injury. And the Casino Battle Royale is a yearly featured match. All the booked gimmick matches make sense.

@AxB, what time do AEW PPVs show our time? Guessing it's midnight or 1am like WWE. Thanks.

Yup. 1AM on the Fye Dap*.

* One of JR's 'in the break' commentary highlights (in addition to saying Joey Janela should be a heel), was he kept saying All Out will be on the Fite App. Fite App. It's on the Fite App. But with his accent, it sounded like he was saying Fye Dap, so that's how I'm spelling it now.
