Cartoons: Help Me Build the Ultimate Collection

ok, i finally pulled the trigger and bought an external hard drive specifically to house all of my cartoons, so that i can watch any of them on demand on my TV.

So. I'm looking for suggestions for great but underrated cartoon series. My personal primary years of interest are mid 80s-mid 90s, but i want to have everything that's great. I started with all the classic 80s stuff (G.I. Joe, Transformers, Thundercats, He-Man, etc.) and then focused on the 90s superhero stuff (Batman, X-Men, Spider-Man, Superman, Tick) so that's my background. But i'm extremely interested in anything you liked as a kid / still like / guilty pleasures / enjoy watching with your kid(s) / and anything else you think is worth watching. Any one-offs / made-for-tv specials / straight to vhs or dvd releases are more than welcome as well, because that's probably my biggest blind spot.

Some examples of lesser-known cartoons that i have but want to experience:

Dino-Riders (1988)

Captain N: the Game Master (1989)

Toxic Crusaders (1991)

I liked Silverhawks and COPS as a kid, but I have no idea if they hold up (I assume not, but who likes). Inhumanoids is another that was pretty sci-fi monstery.

I was going to suggest COPS but like you, I haven't seen it in years to know if it holds up or not.  Same with The Centurions.

Extreme Ghostbusters was solid. I recall Might Max being pretty good. I can't remember the actual quality of Street Sharks, but I know I enjoyed it as a kid. Same with Double Dragons. Darkwing Duck was good Gargoyles was fantastic while its original creator was working on it.

Galaxy High was a short series, less than 20 episodes. Loved it.

Gave the cartoon COPS a rewatch last year when I found the whole series online, still enjoyed it.

Dungeons and Dragons the cartoon and Legend of Zelda (same timeframes as Captain N), another pair that I rewatched and still enjoyed.

Sabre Rider and the Star Sheriffs, MASK, are two I fondly remember that I need to rewatch and see if I will like them. Heathcliff and the Catillac Cats, Shirt Tales, more from the same time frame I'd want to rewatch.

ETA- gummi bears, darkwing duck, duck tales, gargoyles I'd want to revisit also. Tail spin and rescue rangers, wasn't that fond of them but honestly I'd be working on homework while my siblings watched those and animaniacs/tiny toons.

Police Academy, Rambo and Karate Kid if memory serves had cartoons that I think I enjoyed as a kid. Could be Mandela Effect, not sure if I dreamt one or two of them as cartoons

I hope the "etc." you put when listing classic 80s stuff includes Jem and the Holograms, because if not....

Really fun and easily the most 80s of any of the shows of that time. Falls off a bit when they add the new girls to the bands (seems like they were a less inspired with the music) but season one, especially the Misfits, have some absolute bangers. Transformers and GI Joe had higher peaks, episode wise, but I feel like Jem is the most rewatchable of the bunch.

Plus, I am absolutely convinced that Techrat was based on Crispin Glover.

Inhumanoids!

And all of the MTV stuff that rules -- The Maxx, The Head, Aeon Flux, etc. That may be a little "adult" for what you're going with but still.

EDIT: Crap, @JonnyLaw beat me to Inhumanoids, I just didn't see. If there's anything else I can add it has to be Voltron.

Real Ghostbusters scared the crap out me when I was a kid. Haven't checked to see if it holds up. I've been watching Thundercats with my nephew off and on and I think its pretty good. Thought Daria was very solid, but I think it falls off after they introduce the boyfriend in later seasons.

Third for The Real Ghostbusters.  The Collect Call of Cthulu and the episodes with The Boogeyman were fucking awesome!

I will shout out Thundarr The Barbarian and Blackstar along with Batman & The Super Seven (Superstretch & Micro Woman, Web Woman, Freedom Force, etc.).

I wonder if Young Sentinels / Space Sentinels ever got a DVD release? I miss that show.

I know that the Classic Cartoons channel on YouTube has uploaded all of the episodes, but it's not the same as having the collection for your own shelf porn.

And how could I forget Star Blazers / Space Battleship Yamato?  I guess I'll also pimp Battle of the Planets.  I hated the 7 Zark 7 inserts, but the intro was epic!

Are we assuming that Super Friends / Challenge of the Super Friends and all of the Hanna Barbara superhero good shit (Space Ghost, Herculoids, etc) are academic inclusions?

Oh, and SWATKats, mother fuckers!

Visionaries was super cool and only 13 episodes, so it is not much of a time commitment. Scifi fantasy and one of the best one off toy lines of the 80s.

"By nature's hand, by craft, by art,
What once was one, now fall apart!"

One of my brain cells has decided it's their job to remember that line forever for god knows what reason.
