Zimmerman Not Guilty

Lawful Metal

Recommended Posts

You can post facts about the amount of times Zimmerman has called 911 or the non emergency line, you can post how many times he's called about black people white or otherwise, you can post the transcript of what was exactly said during the phone call Zimmerman made, and you can even post about facts of the case and the stand your ground law. It doesn't matter. People want to believe things for a certain reason known only to them. They'll forever remember it as Zimmerman "stalking" Martin because he's black, ignoring specific instructions from the police, and murdering him in cold blood facts be damned.

From the court documents in the Marissa Alexander case:

[Gray] moved to the living room where his children were. Subsequently, [Alexander] emerged from the master bedroom and went into the garage where her car was parked. [Alexander] testified she was trying to leave the residence but could not get the garage door to open. (The Court notes that despite [Alexander's] claim she was in fear for her life at that point and trying to get away from [Gray], she did not leave the house through the back or front doors which were unobstructed. Additionally, the garage door had worked previously and there was no evidence to support her claim.) [Alexander] then retrieved her firearm from the glove box of the vehicle. [Alexander] returned to the kitchen with the firearm in her hand and pointed it in the direction of all three victims. [Gray] put his hands in the air. [Alexander] shot at [Gray], nearly missing his head. The bullet traveled through the kitchen wall and into the ceiling in the living room. The victims fled the residence and immediately called 911. [Alexander] stayed in the marital home and at no point called 911.

Not a "Stand Your Ground" case. She left once. . .to get a weapon. . .came back, and fired in the direction of her husband and their children. And she wasn't living in the house at the time, as she and her husband had been separated. Also, "warning shot" is a funny substitute for "nearly missing his head." (Although I certainly hope the documents mean "barely" missing his head. . .unless my English is off, "nearly" missing his head would mean that she hit him.)

If people want to get angry about the Marissa Alexander thing, they should look at the 10-20-Life law in Florida. That's why she's doing 20 years. . .not because she "stood her ground."

Never have I been more ashamed of my race (a close second is Love and Hip Hop) than when the hoodie thing started last year. This goes especially for all those urban models/strippers/backpage escorts who did it while selling their ass on Twitter and Facebook. Shit, some people need to be hit in the head with a hammer. There is no Twitter avatar or hashtag you can have to affect the outcome of a case one way or another. Does decency and integrity not exist anymore?

A pink ribbon won't cure cancer either...it's called public support.

Point of order: Zimmerman may be free now, but he ain't walking anywhere for the rest of his life. He will almost certainly spend every waking hour living in fear. So it's a perverse form of justice for the pro-Trayvon crowd.

Bernard Goetz still rides public transportation every day.

Based on lawyer, Zimmerman and his brothers statements I think it's safe to say they all may be gunning for Fox anchor roles, not hiding from public eye.

SYG had no bearing in the case. Defense declined the SYG pre-trial hearing which if found that it fell under it the case wouldn't have gone to trial. They went with standard self defense. It's a nice picture with some words, the words are just incorrect.

The jurors were instructed of Stand Your Ground law.

The police were limited in not being able to gather evidence as a result of SYG.

How many people put on a pink ribbon while wearing a Fuck Bitches Get Money t-shirt? It's fucking baffling that people can be upset at Trayvon Martin case than turn around and talk about wanting to kill their baby's father because he didn't pay child support. I see this type of shit on Facebook and Twitter. You can't talk about how corrupt the justice system is and then bring someone into the courts. All I see is a bunch of people trying to fit this into their own personal narrative. It's extremely silly and contradicting. I expect people to not give up their lives over this, but AT LEAST try to act like you have some decency.

I have relatives that lived through the Emmett Till era of Mississippi. They didn't fucking wear cotton gin fans around their necks in support and then go to the juke joints afterwards. I know people want to feel important, but come on now.

I don't buy that. That's the same bullshit argument behind the stop snitching movement and behind the people who complain that someone can't protest wallstreet greed if they own consumer goods.Father-in-law started the sit-in movement in N.C. He had support that came from womans church groups as well as from bootleggers and gun runners. Racism effects everyone, not just the pure of heart.

Personally, I feel that you should have proper respect for a situation. Putting on a hoodie and taking a selfie is NOT public support because that means you're of the opinion that you have some clout in the social media universe. When it became ABOUT the hoodie and not adequately learning about the case, that's when it became an embarrassment of riches. You have Twitter, Facebook, and everything in between, but you have no idea how to use them. If you're willing to put on a hoodie, it just means you're a ginormous tool who wants to fit in and feel important. If you're prostituting in the SAME PLACE where you're advocating changes in the justice system, you're incredibly out of sync with reality.

I disagree with everything you said in this statement, except for the last sentence.

EDITED because I'm not looking to start trouble.

Wasn't an intentional botch, but the exact same botch that happened in the Casey Anthony case.

That is, the media got so into everything that it started a national shitstorm around it and the Prosicutors Office rushed taking the case to trial before they had all their ducks in a row, and the Defense Attorneys were good enough that they proved reasonable doubt.

Long story short, Flordia needs some competent DA's.

I look forward to Rob Lowe's next Lifetime movie as the ZImmerman prosecutor.

I think you've taken the worst possible outlook to the situation.

I agree with you--to a point.  There are those who are well-intended, but perhaps misguided with not a full understanding of the situation.  There are always bandwagoners in every case, no matter what.  But not everyone is a ginormous tool because of that.

As far as social media being an agent for good--yes, definitely.  But every medium--radio, TV, internet, Morse code--can and will be manipulated for ill gains and means.  It's Pandora's Box being played in front of us every day.

What I wish is that everyone would have respect for how much violence is taking place in our society beyond Trayvon.  Chicago is a war zone.  Pedos snatch kids out of their front yards every day.

Maybe instead of crying about how dumb everyone else, we should work on enlightening ourselves and doing what we can to share that information.  I bet someone out there would be willing to listen.  But not if you label them a fool from jump.

Honest question: If the cops showed up that night to find Zimmerman dead and Martin standing over him, and if Martin had told them that he got into a confrontation with a creepy dude who'd been following him around the neighborhood, that the guy pulled a gun on him after a brief fight, and that he'd managed to get it away from him and shot him out of fear for his own life, do any of you think the cops would have sent Martin home without a drug test or further questioning and shoved Zimmerman's body into the cooler as a John Doe?

I don't buy the claim that Trayvon saw the gun and reached for it... Given what we know, it would have been nearly impossible.. However, lets say Trayvon did get ahold of the gun and shoot Zimmerman. His story goes like this: "A creepy guy was following me.. he brandished his firearm, we struggled for it and I got ahold of it and shot him"

Is that not self-defense? Police check out the firearm. They learn it belonged to Zimmerman. They learn that he called dispatch on Trayvon, ignored them, continued the chase..confronted him, etc.

I don't like this idea that we are meant to take the lone survivor's word as gospel. That is what the jurors did. Or at least B-37.

I think there is truth in both videos, but both guys go just overboard to the point of being a little foolish. Pastor Manning has some perspectives on blackness that I think are valid, but he goes too far by making it a sin and that you need to repent to absolve it. The munchies bit is pure showmanship and foolish, and it takes away from anything valuable he has to say.

The other fellow, who I hadn't heard of before, is actually saying ideas I've said probably in this thread. But mine is more targeted at the general population and isn't nearly as racially charged. Honestly, I'm not sure I could properly use half the words he said, because I don't have that perspective to properly identify a "buck dancer". And really I think those kind of words, and the race baiting in general, mask the larger issue. To me, he's got the right idea but is ruining his point with the slurs.

I'd actually like to hear more from Charles Barkley, who seems to get the big picture, and has a more balanced perspective.

I notice some confusion about events and aspects of the story, dispatchers have no legal authority and are told to say "wait for the police" Zimmerman was walking to the cut through to read the street sign (as the dispatcher wanted so Zimmerman could tell the police which street to go to) because they were changed often and the people robbing the houses previously had swapped them for that reason, so Zimmerman was not stalking or pursuing Trayvon (let alone in a illegal manner, ill touch on this later)

Up until Trayvon punched Zimmerman (supported by all the physical evidence) there was no crime and Trayvon had no way of knowing the gun was out, firstly Florida does not allow open carry so when Zimmerman was told it was on camera he was relieved so no open carry there. Second Zimmerman in his previous calls to the police had shown he really did not want to follow or watch any of these burglars and he had the gun those times so it is not gun courage.

So up until Trayvon touched Zimmerman he had no idea if Zimmerman wanted to do him harm, that is self defense out the window for Trayvon (guy is bringing your wallet back to you in a shady hood and you punch him? Yes very reasonable   )

There is also Trayvons missing 4 minutes he had to run home, since he could not make it 75 yards in that long after he had started running he must have pulled up to hide or walk around.

As for the actual assault,  okay so Trayvon is slamming Zimmerman's head into the concrete (supported by evidence) so unless Benoit taught us nothing about brain injuries, he was fearing for his life, since an actual physical fight was happening where Trayvon was on top and Zimmerman could not retreat Zimmerman had no choice but to shoot him.

So the only people turning this into a race thing are the NAACP and people ignoring Trayvon initiating the fight to claim its open season on people of colour.

So can someone explain to me how "following" (or walking in the same direction in a public place) is creating a confrontation? No one can honestly believe being in the same proximity is cause for assault and then trying to brain a guy? That opens the door for attempted murder for someone "following you" which is far worse than getting your head smacked off concrete just to kill a guy.

Oh maybe someone can point out why Trayvon did not keep running or stand up and run after attacking Zimmerman?

So yeah he had no intention of killing the kid (or even attacking him) until he was pinned down being beaten. If not then why not approach with the gun out and tell him to get down then give him a kicking? Oh he was smart to ring the cops then go kill a guy, master plan.

Btw Trayvon had the height and weight advantage at the time.

Sorry for sounding abrasive but this shits been going on on every forum and it is too goddamn hot here.
