hammerva Posted July 15, 2020 Posted July 15, 2020 So all day yesterday we were hearing about this HORRIBLE NEWS for the Washington FC. They just announced that Larry Michael is gone as the lead broadcaster for their radio show. Actually he is retiring. This is definitely what I don't consider bad news. RIP Skintangibles

odessasteps Posted July 15, 2020 Posted July 15, 2020 I remember when guys on 980 called him Baghdad Bob.
Tabe Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 Rumors of major scandal and fallout coming from Washington FC tomorrow or Friday in a WaPo article.
Gonzo Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 (edited) Yeah, this sounds. . .not great, Bob. Got a feeling that whatever goodwill there might have been about the name change is about to completely disappear. Edited July 16, 2020 by Gonzo
Elsalvajeloco Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 People on Twitter are insinuating it's a sex trafficking ring involving cheerleaders and season ticket holders.

Wait, wasn't this already a thing? I could have sworn that there was already a R's cheerleading sex trafficking story.

I mean all of the rumors we are hearing about this story is stuff we kind of already knew. The stories about how some of the cheerleaders were used almost like escorts on these cruise ships came out about 3 or 4 years ago. It was hot for about a month and then died like usual.

The cheerleader story was about a specific trip were there were a lot of extra donors there who were extra creepy to the cheerleaders during the photo shoot
RIPPA Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 But yeah basically - if you thought the name change was gonna be the big story this week...
RIPPA Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 Sorry about the multiple tweets - had to weed out the idiots 2 2
dogwelder Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 I've been less critical of Snyder than most people (and it's still a bit laughable how the media will overlook or underreport some of the things the other two major sports owners in the area have done), but if he was involved or knew about what was going on and did nothing, then yeah he's gotta go. But if it somehow stopped at Bruce Allen and Snyder knew nothing, then I'm conflicted. I think everyone knows how awful Bruce Allen was, so I sort of wouldn't care...but if Snyder's become that disconnected from the team...
RIPPA Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 My favorite conspiracy theory is that Bruce Allen is the Deep Throat in all this and him being bitter about being fired is what is going to take down Snyder 1

That's because the football team means everything in this town. The Wizards, Nats, and Caps could win a championship every year and it won't bring as much joy to ther city as a regular season victory over the Cowboys.

I just see stuff like when Ted went after Bullets Forever or the Lerners vs Lord & Taylor fight and think that if Snyder was involved it would be at least a hundred times bigger.

Well again - 1) winning matters and 2) access The Caps and Nats each winning a championship will - rightly or wrongly - curry more favor. Same with the access point - Ted talks to everyone and while not as chatty, the Lerners are at least heard from time to time. So there is a lot less "axes to grind" for lack of a better word (Plus the Lerner/Lord & Taylor is so corporate and business mind numbing the average fan isn't gonna to pay attention. Dan Snyder cutting down trees is a black and white story) I think supreme is being a little hyperbolic in that a single win over Dallas now is not greater than either championship. Now a playoff berth... katie bar the door
Dolfan in NYC Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 "We don't want to speculate, but.... " This story is the real life version of that cat meme, "I'ma touch the fishy..."
RIPPA Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 It has also turned into this weird meta thing were journalists are yelling at each other over how to do their jobs 1

Hey, don't kill the messenger! Do you guys want Snyder to beat the wrap? Did you have huge money on an illegal Girl Scout cookie manufacturing ring? I'm pretty sure this is just like another situation for the team that got swept under the rug that came home to roost.
dogwelder Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 Take all this FWIW, but if any of it is true...yeah... 1
Dolfan in NYC Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 I love that everyone in the media is basically saying what the story is, but with a fraction of a hair's distance away:
hammerva Posted July 16, 2020 Author Posted July 16, 2020 Any stories involving drugs, sex, and Larry Michael has to be tremendous
RIPPA Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 It’s like how everyone bails on a college before the NCAA comes calling 1 1
